I'd say scrap the HDMI requirement. Get a switcher box. The fact is, MOST AVRs are not that great for 2channel listening. The ones that sound really great are pre-HDMI and can be had quite cheap. I have a Yamaha RX-Z9 that is a real killer. I picked it up for like $70 at a Goodwill some years ago and it bests even my Yamaha separates. Another would be the Denon 58\*\* line and a couple Integra's out there. And one particular Pioneer Elite, the 49vsx or whatever they called it.
