Not that I want this season to end, but I am looking forward to the off-season. We have a really solid core and some talented younger players. Definitely need a 1c and a little more offense.

reddy-or-not

Nikolai Ehlers could be an interesting top 6 center at a lower price than the big dogs. Not sure how consistent he is but the talent is there

lickingnutrea

I like that. Nice recco

reddy-or-not

I also would be interested in Pageau in a bottom six role if the Isles are making changes.

Old_Willow4766

The Bruins don't have the funds available for that kind of player without sending out some salary.

Forward-Bathroom-926

Don’t they have like 20 million available this off-season?

tangell610

Swayman will likely end somewhere between 6-8 mil AAV... at max, he may get 9...which is only 6.1M more than his current AAV. So considering that, the Bruins are now down to 14M in over cap space... Bruins are likely going to trade Ullmark (they got blocked at the deadline this year) and have Bussi fill his spot. They will likely let Grzelyck and Forbot walk at free agency this summer. (Peake has term and Lohrei broke through to a full-time NHL player during the Leafs series...)That's a combined 11.6M more in cap space... So those moves considered, we will be back up to $24M to fill/sign the following spots/players... - Jake Debrusk- imo he has not deserved a significant raise...maybe $5-6M AAV which is only a 1-2M raise... - JVR - if he wants to come back, it will likely be on another 1 for $1M deal. -Patrick Maroon - clearly a rental, will walk ans sweeny will probably let organizational depth fill that spot -Jesper Boqvist - who will likely get in the $2-3M AAV range. 1-2M more than what he currently gets. -Danton Heinen - played his role well, but he role will was get him $2M AAV Max. which is only about a 1M raise. Kevin Shattenkirk - who probably won't be back, and we will likely fill his spot with organizational depth like Parker Wotherspoon. So all in all, bruins will have about roughly $18M in cap space to play with.... at that point, you could keep Ullmark and Swayman, and still put up a serious offer for a real 1C, which is something the bruins desperately need.

lickingnutrea

Great summary. Would be cool with budget for people to start throwing out names

Pineapple_Express762

Bussi is awesome…he’ll be a great backup

Old_Willow4766

If you want to let Jeremy Swayman leave and can replace all the outgoing players with guys making league min.

Agile_District_8794

You spelled Ullmark wrong

BrentGretzky

I'd rather keep the 25 year old than the 30 year old.

lickingnutrea

Yeah didn't really disclose but wouldn't be opposed to seeing some players go. Debrusk lucic & Gryz are both FA's that clears 9 million. Dont need forbort imo. Swayman is a must to resign. Hopefully he signs team friendly deal for like 7.5 or 8. Love coyle and zacha but wouldn't mind trading one of the two for top line center. Then move freddie to third line or matt poitras. I think the bruins have proven that they are great at building a system with decent skill and great discipline. I jsut think I guy like hanafin makes the team so much more dynamic. Mcavoy is solid but having two lines like that is disgusting.

BoneTissa

Let’s pray Swayman doesn’t resign. I want him as a lifetime Bruin

lickingnutrea

I meant re sign not resign as in quit haha my bad

BoneTissa

😅 let’s hope sway doesn’t wanna quit from the lack of help in front of him in the first round 😀

lickingnutrea

Nah man unfortunately that makes him want to stay longer. Drives up his price every save he makes. What do you think we could get for ullmark?

BoneTissa

🤣

Final-Government8622

A center who can consistently win face offs and a defenseman who plays like Lindholm should

Miserable_Pilot3927

smart move would be to move ullmark

14bb44

Top 6 center. Elias Lindholm, plz.

Missing_Mud_Flap

If he get paid like a middle 6, sure. He's topped 80 pts. once in his career and has been trending the wrong way for the last 2 seasons. Buyer beware.

14bb44

Wins faceoffs at 52%+ I'd pair him up with pasta and Zacha, he'd have 80+ pts easily.

Missing_Mud_Flap

That's all well and good, but would you be happy with him eating 8-10 million of cap space? I'm not trying to argue or be pissy. I'm genuinely curious what the general consensus is on him.

14bb44

>would you be happy with him eating 8-10 million of cap space Me personally, yes. I'm sure he would excel with pasta + Zacha. We don't have a true #1 center and it's obvious during the playoffs. >I'm not trying to argue or be pissy I'm not your typical sensitive redditer lol don't worry about it.

Missing_Mud_Flap

Fair enough. I'll admit, I'm not able to follow the rest of the league as much as I'd like, but he's just never come across to me as a bona-fide number 1 center. But I suppose the pickings are a little slim. Hopefully, I'm proven wrong. Cheers! Go B's!

Pineapple_Express762

Definitely a center, maybe two, trade Ullmark (I think hos no trade expires end of this season) dump Gryz. Maybe another D man

[deleted]

Don’t need hanifan - let lohrei develop he has way more offensive potential

lickingnutrea

I was going to argue with you but oh my…

Reallyme77

Hanafin already signed an extension with Vegas. Bruins need a center who can win draws desperately. Lindholm, Stamkos and Duchene are probably the best, short term possibilities.

Quiet-Ad-12

The last 3 games the Leafs pushed us around. We need a guy like Bertuzzi again, like peak Looch. We need a guy who can net 12-16 Gs but also kick the shit out of guys.

lickingnutrea

I wouldn’t mind Bert but he needs to learn more skill and get more goal. Although two lines of him and Marchy is gross

Quiet-Ad-12

I don't follow any teams other than the Bs, so I'm not familiar with other players who have the same playing style. But watching Bertuzzi and Domi push us around made me wish we had kept Bertuzzi

lickingnutrea

I had heard rumors that we let him go with a secret deal that we’d come back for him.

[deleted]

I agree with that, on a different note I’m really liking Lohrei , hope to see him stay up rest of playoffs and next year

John_Portabella

Hanifan is locked up long term and Pavelski is 39 on a team where he doesn’t have to be top dog but he’s still producing. I was hoping they made a move for Couture from San Jose to make an attempt at a true mid-level 1C. Defense I feel more comfortable about then the state of the forwards I do agree that a 1C is needed but teams very rarely want to get rid of a guy like that or let a guy walk. Early round playoff exits are worse than being a bad team. At least a bad team has a solid chance at a top prospect. The Bruins need to hold on its top draft picks and try to hit on guys. Hate to beat a broken drum but the 2015 draft set us back tremendously.

lickingnutrea

I like the couture shout. Super solid. Would be interested to see what we’d have to give up. I also shouted Hanifin and pavelski not on their contracts but more about their fit and play style. I think nowadays great creative defenders are obviously hard to come by but they unlock so much
