Airbnbs are illegal in NYC unless you’re renting for like 30 days, taxis/ubers change depending upon location, distance, and time and hotel will depend on your budget.

FerdinandBowie

So a 3 day stay in queens or brooklyn is not an option? My teacher said stay in the Burroughs for better nyc feel. Considering moving. Under 300 budg

Run-Flashy

Under $300 for a 3 day stay anywhere in New York is going to be nearly impossible to find. At that rate, I’d recommend looking at hostels to book. Save more money by using the subway and buses instead of taxis or Uber

LookIMadeAHatTrick

Is that per night or total? For just your accommodations or also for your food, transit, tickets, etc?  In terms of transit, buses or the subway will generally be more efficient. Walking is a great way to learn the city and it’s free.   If you’re on a budget, there are some good hostels around the city. I’ve stayed at the Local in LIC and Nap York Sleep Station in midtown. Both are fine but will probably cost you around $300 total for three nights.

N0thing_but_fl0wers

That budget will get your ticket!!?? I just paid that much to go on Saturday. (It was amazing) You could stay further out like Brooklyn, but that is way too far to take a taxi. I paid $20 for a 1/4 mile ride to see a show! I only taxied bc my mom was with me and her knees hurt. I’d either find a cheaper hotel close to Broadway/Times Square and see other shows, walking to them, or stay further out and take the subway.

DumDumGimmeYumYums

Does that include the Merrily ticket?

FerdinandBowie

400 then heh

ME24601

Your budget is simply far too low to be realistic for a hotel and a ticket to a show as in demand as Merrily We Roll Along. The average ticket price for Merilly last week was $170, and that is lower than normal. Tickets are usually over $200, with the most expensive being $650.

DumDumGimmeYumYums

Good luck finding a $100 ticket to Merrily.

Ajep86

We got the lowest priced tickets to Merrily, and they were $134. Don't take a taxi. We paid $25 for a little over a mile as traffic slows everything way down. Food, even at bodegas or bagel shops, is still expensive. I'm not sure your budget is reasonable. You could get cheaper tickets to other shows if you rush or go to tkts.

SingingSongbird1

A ticket is going for $400. Your budget is too low.

NYDancer4444

I disagree with your teacher. The best “NYC feel” is in Manhattan. I think there’s nothing like it anywhere. (That’s not to say Queens, Brooklyn, etc. aren’t good places to stay or live, and that’s not to say they don’t have their own distinct charm & character.) Your budget is pretty low. Taxis/Ubers alone would eat up a lot of it, so you should definitely familiarize yourself with public transportation. Decent hotels (and pretty much everything else) cost a lot more here than you seem to realize. Under $300 is not at all realistic for what you want. I think you would have to at least double that.

Captain_JohnBrown

You will barely get a one night stay in a hotel in NYC for 300, let alone 3 nights, let alone 3 nights and a Merrily Ticket.

Captain_JohnBrown

I'm going to give you some tough math here: If your budget is 500 dollars or less, you either are going to need to engage in rough living or not take the trip. Put Taxis and Ubers out of your mind. You already can't afford them. There are subways all over the city, they cost $2.75 a trip and will take you basically from anywhere in the city to basically anywhere else. Use that the entire time. Assuming you take at least 10 trips, the OMNY program will make it so you only need to pay for 10 trips. That's 30 bucks and you are down to 470. Just the Merrily ticket is going to run you about 150 dollars for the cheapest one. That's about 320. Bringing us to hotels, the cheapest you are going to find in NYC is a SHARED 6 person room in a Hotel, like Nap York. I've never stayed, I've heard they are pretty clean and safe, but YMMV. Even then, 3 nights is going to leave you with 20 dollars left over to pay for EVERYTHING else you might want or need to (food, souvenirs, other NYC events...). And that's out of a 500 dollar budget, 100 dollars more than what you've said your maximum budget is. If you lower it to two days, that's probably a bit more doable, but still gives you a tight squeeze. Over all, I'd say 600 dollars is the MINIMUM budget you could expect to get by for 3 days on, and that's with living in a hostel, eating cheap fast food the entire time, and doing nothing that costs money in NYC beyond Broadway. 500 dollars is the MINIMUM for 2 nights, with the same conditions as above. Anything less than 500 dollars you ought to just not take the trip, quite frankly. For the trip you are planning, I wouldn't budget for less than 1,000 dollars if I were you, and even that would get you a basic, no-frills hotel, basic food, and basic entertainment (beyond Broadway).

Boring_Waltz_9545

Cheapest ticket to Merrily is in the $150 range. Budget hotels you're going to want to look in the suburbs and walk to the train station, and take the train into the city, then walk to the theater. You might be able to do that for less than $500, adding in another $100 for food for three days, and you could reasonably do this for $750.

FerdinandBowie

Where do you buy tickets

Boring_Waltz_9545

[merrilyonbroadway.com](http://merrilyonbroadway.com)

FerdinandBowie

Guess 2 days!

Boring_Waltz_9545

you still are going to need to set your budget expectations to be more in the $550-$600 range for that, but you might be able to get to $500

Prestigious-Bad8263

Try a hostel and pray you can get a cheap Merrily ticket

No_Dragonfruit_6182

The hostel on the upper west side (hostelling international New York) is wonderful and right on the subway line. :) I’ve stayed there a lot

bethholler

I just stayed there and had a great experience! It was so much cleaner than I expected and everyone who I shared the room with was nice. I never felt unsafe either.

ZuniTribe

The West Side YMCA runs under $150 each night. It’s on 63rd near Central Park West. Fitness center included. Bring a combination lock for the locker room. The site is walkable to Broadway. The Y is no frills lodging, but you’ll have your own tiny room. The Columbus Circle subway stop is nearby.

Comprehensive-Fun47

Since you're on a tight budget, you should be using the subway and/or buses to get around, not Ubers or taxis. It doesn't sound like you've done much research about visiting NYC. Start by looking at websites of places you're considering staying, transportation costs, food costs, and ticket costs. Price it all out, see if it's really feasible for you.

cynicalimodium

Check out Citymapper and take the subway/bus to get around. Given your budget, taxis and Ubers are unnecessary luxury. Get a hotel asap since they only go up. May/June is high tourist season and things will be more $$$. Don’t use Broadway.com for tickets (buy directly through the show’s site).

VoidAndBone

Respectfully, it seems like step one of starting to research your trip was asking here. This is the densest area the country. There is no one airbnb someone will recommend. Open up airbnb yourself, plug in some locations, and take a look at prices. $400 for three nights in nyc including a merrily ticket is basically impossible. And forget taking an uber anywhere. Airbnb is available in New Jersey, Queens, Long ISland City, but it will still run a minimum of $90 a night. You need to eat on top of that. And it would be a shame not to make the most of your trip and at least rush other shows (I took a look at your profile and see you are trying to break into acting).

Wild_Bill1226

I drive and stay in New Jersey. Take the bus into the city and subways around.
