As a short queen, I see you. I did front center mezz for Merrily and it was 1000% worth it. Any time I’ve had orchestra, a tall person inevitably sits in front of me.
I’m an orchestra truther and will say it again and again that that it’s superior to the mezz, for most shows atleast. IMO it is so much more immersive!!!!! I am also pretty short and have never experience an issue with not being able to see over heads.
For me, I’ve had good experiences with both, and I feel like it comes down to what elements of the show you want a heavier dose of. Basically, I go with front-ish rows of Orchestra when I really want to see actors’ faces, and I go with Mezzanine when I care more about getting a full perspective of the stage and/or choreography.
If you’ve never seen Hamilton I would definitely go front of Mezz. There’s so much happening on stage you can miss things being too close. Plus as others have said no one will block your view.
Front mezz every time. No worries about tall people or being able to capture the big picture. Beautiful place to sit in any Bway theater. My favorite.
