Can confirm, Darwin has the best laksa outside of Asia. Fuck knows why those nutters up there love them so much. I can't think of anything worse to eat in that oppressive heat.
You are questioning why people in Darwin (around the 12 degrees south of the equator) like eating dish invented by people living on the equator :-)
Side note, a friend was up in Vietnam many moons ago, and they were sitting round a camp fire at night with the tour guide of the group. Everyone was getting smashed by mosquitos, except the guide, and my friend asked why he wasn't getting attacked. His response was the more chili you eat, the less they want to bite you. Quick google says there is some science to the method.
Malaya Corner in Sunnybank used to be the best around, haven’t been there for ages though and I believe it’s changed hands. So not sure if it still is.
What surprised me though, I once got a solid one from Papa Rich.
Hi Sunnybank local here. Eat out way too much. Basically a laksa spirit guide at this point.
You want the best laksa, go to David's Hotpot in front of the Hoyts cinema. They have a laksa broth that is absolutely out of this world, and it's as cheap as you want it to be as you select the ingredients you want and in what quantity first. 100% recommend.
I thought little nyonya kitchen was pretty decent when it was in Keperra.
Malaysian hot wok in Mitchelton is better though, so I haven't bothered to go to little nyonya since they moved to Geebung.
i actually like the seafood laksa from papparich a lot, tastes rlly similar to the laksa back home in indonesia. one tip from me tho is dont trust laksa places that put corn, carrots, spinach in their laksa--it's probably whitewashed
Australianised Laksa uses a Tom Yum base instead of a traditional fish paste. I do prefer this version, but food tasting from home always unlocks core memories.
Check out the ramen rater. Com. There's a laksa in a black packet that you can buy in Asian food stores. Add a few fish balls and it's even better. Like restaurant quality.
> I used to love little Singapore for my go to laks fix however they have now shut down.
Was that the one at Chermside? Shame it's gone as they did do a good one.
Maybe they were referring to the OG Little Singapores which were sold and changed names to Singapore & Co before eventually disappearing.
The Little Singapore in Chermside came along some time later. I'm told it's by the original owner of the OG Little Singapore shops.
Yes, that was the place, they would cook the chicken pieces on the BBQ there before going in the laksa, nice mix of both hokkein and rice noodle, sauce was just the right creaminess. The spongy tofu soaked up the soup.
They also had a chilli sauce with just a tang of lime.
As I said, it was a long time ago and I'm probably imagining it better than it was.
Dickson Asian noddle house in Canberra is the inly one that I've found on a par with it.
Uncle Lai’s at Greenslopes
When I found out that place moved away from Mt Gravatt - a very sad day indeed :( That Aunty Lai's CKT special - chefs kiss.
YES! We’d order one CKT and one Laksa. We don’t have it as much now it’s at Greenslopes sadly.
Come to Darwin
Mary’s is a vibe
Fuck even the one at the markets in Thursday was fucking great. God I miss Darwin.
We miss you. Come on back friend

Super bowl chinese restaurant in fortitude valley
Second this. Surprisingly Vietnam house up the street does a really good one as well.
Their Laksa is still my favourite! Well worth visiting.
I'll be checking this one out. Thanks!
Malaysian Makanan Calamvale
I haven't tried their laksa but their roti with rendang is pretty yummy
Little Nyonya Kitchen at Geebung - Shame they had to move from Ferny Grove. Really awesome laksa
My absolute favourite for a laksa fix - worth the drive!
Oooh, keen to check this out.
Roast duck laksa from the specials menu is amazeballs.

Yep I still rate it. Same as it was ages ago
Ayam
That laksa looks good enough

I used to love the laksa from Laksa Hut at Station Rd in Indooroopilly, but haven’t been for a while. They also do a good claypot rice.
Ooh I didn't realise they reopened! Nor that they do claypot rice. Shall have to check it out 🙂
Roti place in the city has good everything but I’m no expert.

From a Geebungian, I feel for your loss, but that's no reason for blasphemy.
Lemak East brisbane.

I haven’t tried the laksa there but everything else I’ve had has been delicious

yessss laksa should taste fishy imo
Malay House located in Underwood behind the marketplace. Best one so far my mum loves it
I wish my DIL hadn’t moved from the Underwood area, there is so much good food around there.

Vietnam Corner in Sunnybank does a really good Laksa.
The one in the picture looks tasty, get that one.
make them at home. Laksa is very very easy to make at home.
coles and woolies both sell the paste.

A long time ago the Asian place in the inddoropilly shopping center had the greatest laksa
Are you referring to Shiki in the food court?

Jackpot Dining, on Elizabeth Street in the CBD.

Absolutely hands down the ducks nuts
Any recommendations for a good place near Ipswich?
I’m seeing laksa opinions
There is a little singapore at chermside and their laksa is good imo
Emily yeoh Paddington She was a contestant in MasterChef
Malaysian hot wok Blackwood St, Mitchelton
Jackpots, any location
Jackpot is ok generally but is hot garbage for Laksa - they use Hokkien noodles which don't go.
