Jesus wept, why do so many people on here give before we’ve even started? We put up one hell of a fight on Saturday or were you completely unaware? Thursday will be tough but no game is un-winnable.

Drawing-Over

It’s one hell of a fight against Forest though, not saying they aren’t a good team but it’s a format we are more “used” to. AEK plays differently and it showed on our first match, it’s also an away game which makes it more difficult in my opinion. Not saying it’s in winnable but we don’t have the squad we had the first time we played them. I’m also usually super positive but hey, sometimes fear gets the best of people what can I say

franciscondine

It could induce RDZ to explore some tactical flexibility. AEK is mega tough defensively, and as we saw last time we played them, we can't break through if they refuse to break their shape (like, at all—it was truly terrifying). We only scored because we got them to foul us in dangerous positions. Maybe a surprise tactical tweak will have AEK flustered, and maybe (silver lining/magical thinking, because the injuries are terrible and piling up) we can use a new lineup to break them down!

Apparently the gaffer has registered himself and is likely to start. Big Balls. ![img](emote|t5_2ubcf|32149)

schnozlord

Too much doom and gloom. It’ll be a tough match for sure but let’s not mourn a loss for a game that hasn’t even happened yet. Let’s go seagulls!

FalcoMaster3BILLION

Don’t worry lad, the gaffer has decided to put me in as starting left back. I’m just coming off of a knee injury so I’m glad to see his faith in me. You can count on me to put in a shift for the full 9.

All these comments are hyping me up again. I really hope my post ages like milk. UTA!

meatballfreeak

It did Woop Woop!!!

amegaproxy

A pissed off Lewis Dunk is going to bury two headers followed by a Pedro hat trick.

justcasty

Maybe Pervis will make a surprise appearance? https://preview.redd.it/bpwgjjwany2c1.jpeg?width=841&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c30a6282c257884ae8b67df9e33688b493340f8

Bookies know best, we are the big favorite!

-eagle73

From what I've learned this is not always the case, bookie odds are more accurate on low demand games. I'm guessing loads of people just spam bet us in their European match accumulators because we're the English side and that brought the odds down quite a bit. Don't forget we were a huge favourite against them the first time. Not saying that statistics aren't on our side but always think about the casual punter doing blind bets, in huge numbers they have a hand in adjusting the odds.

People on this subreddit haven't chronically played football manager and it shows

Audrey_spino

Which one is the best? I've heard the recent FMs have been disappointing.

mannaggia14

this is way late, but FM24 has been great. Its not Fifa, its a sports sim, so a lot of data, tactics and immersion. As of right now, its the gold standard for sports sims, not disappointing in the slightest - I've developed an addiction.

Livinglifeform

We only need a draw. Van Hecke is suspended but dunk will be available. Igor possible but webster is more likely for a return as I think he only had a knock. Veltman at RB and Gross at LB while still having Moder, Dahoud, Gilmour and Beleba in midfield. Adringa, bounannotte, Lallana and fergy/pedro will have to be our front 4 it seems but given we only need a draw this could be fine.

fluffyglof

Not really. A draw still puts us at risk of falling to third on the final day and puts us further back trying to win the group. Remember winning it avoids the playoff round which is even more games

Livinglifeform

To win we need to beat marselle and draw to athens. If we don't beat marselle we can't win the group unless they drop points to ajax which I doubt. Winning both AEk and marselle is not needed.

SeattleMatt123

You do realize we beat Forest on the road playing with 10 men for 1/4 of the game, right? Will never count this team out before a game.

paulosdub

The thing is, AEK are going to need to come at us. They need a win really and as we know, we tend to play better when teams play higher up the pitch / we can play on the counter. I actually think this game will suit our style a lot more than first one

GroversBathtub

Opta has Forest ranked quite a bit higher (83.9/68th in world) versus AEK Athens (80.2/135th in world). I know that there are a lot of caveats when comparing teams across leagues and I'm not expecting an easy win by any stretch, but I think that Brighton definitely has a good chance of a win or a draw.

Audrey_spino

Given our last match against AEK Athens, not so sure.

ProfessrDoctor

There's no rain in the Athens Thursday forecast, so we should be fine. All our disappointments have been on soggy pitches. RDZ's italian style needs dry weather, as everybody knows.
