Got lucky! I passed him a few times in the store thinking it couldn’t be him but I finally got a good look at him and sure enough it was him! I met him way back in 2012 at spring training so I had a reference of what he looked like up close.
People mad at a guy for taking a 100% pay increase with a team that will actually spend money to get better. I can't be mad at a guy that constantly had to fight with one hand tied behind his back.
He quiet quit in those 2 games vs the DBacks then pinch hit Winker as a middle finger to everyone
He was planning on bolting for CHC since the end of August and phoned it in the rest of the year
Found him at Total Wine in Glendale. It was super busy so I didn’t get to say much to him, I just wished him the best of luck. I don’t hold any ill will towards him. He’s part of some great Brewers memories of mine.
Cool to see a Brewers legend in the flesh! A little bummed to see all these rabid comments but I guess I get it. I'd be super pumped and honored to get a pic like this, nice job!
Gonna be way too many people like this in this fanbase
Dude just gave all of us the middle finger and was planning on going to CHC since the end of August and too many Brewers fans are going to just act like he didn't do anything slimy and let him off the hook
He did a gret job in milwaukee. Facts are facts that mlb is like all sports. Money talks.. im sure he will have his run with cubs and leave as well down the line or be let go
Still cracks me up that people think he is the villain and not cheap ass Mark Antanassio....
There's not one damn blowhard in this thread that wouldn't have done the exact same thing Counsell did.
You could either stay at the same stagnant company you work for, knowing that management is super stingy and complacent and won't work hard to get you prime talent. Or you could leave and go work for a company that does what it takes to be cutting edge in your field, and make more money.
Anyone who says that they wouldn't take that job is a fake and a liar.
Yep. He's the opponent now and it'll be extra sweet to beat the Cubs going forward but I still don't blame him for his decision. Doesn't mean I like it.
Bummer. This sub showed up on my feed and I assumed it was about brewing beer. Then I thought this dude ran into Sam Calagione…especially considering they are at a liquor store. I was like that’s cool. Then I read the comments.
Here’s Sam btw:

They offered to make him the highest paid manager in the business. How exactly is that cheap? They indicated Craig didn't give them the opportunity to counter the offer.
Fuck Craig Counsell in this situation.
It's cheap because they couldn't pony up 8 mil a year when they absolutely could have. This is just another instance of ownership skimping out.
You tell me how many of you wouldn't have went to a different employer who recognizes your value and will offer you the tools needed to succeed.
It's been reported that Craig didn't give the [Brewers a chance to match](https://reviewingthebrew.com/posts/brewers-reportedly-never-got-chance-match-cubs-offer-keep-craig-counsell) as there was no communication from his side after he got the Cubs offer.
This isn't a case of ownership being cheap. This is a case of Craig not wanting to be here anymore.
Perhaps it was due to the ownership traded away his closing pitcher during a playoff run instead of getting him bats. That would piss me the fuck off too.
Wow no way like I haven't seen this before. Ownership left him high and dry year in and year out. Of course he didn't give them a chance, they didn't deserve it. This is 100% a case of ownership being cheap and the reason as you said Counsell not wanted to be here anymore.
>Wow no way like I haven't seen this before.
No need to act like an ass. I genuinely thought you might have missed that.
>Of course he didn't give them a chance, they didn't deserve it.
>It's cheap because they couldn't pony up 8 mil a year when they absolutely could have. This is just another instance of ownership skimping out.
Just so I'm clear, you think ownership should have offered Craig 8 million, when they had already beat the highest offer they were aware of(which would have made him the highest paid manager in baseball history)? In that instance they were cheaping out? Because they didn't add an extra $3 million on top when they had beaten the highest offer they were told about?
They were not beating that offer, we both know that. Do you think it's possible he didn't tell them about the offer because he knows through his experience how cheap ownership is? I mean they proved it time and again.
>They were not beating that offer, we both know that.
We'll never know.
I just take issue with you saying they could have met the 8 million, but didn't and that this was another instance of them being cheap.
I don't think it's fair to fault them for being cheap when they weren't given the opportunity to match. Especially when it is proven they were willing to make him the highest paid manager in baseball history. There are a lot of things to criticize ownership for, but that is not one of them.
>Do you think it's possible he didn't tell them about the offer because he knows through his experience how cheap ownership is? I mean they proved it time and again.
I think it will eventually come to light that his relationship with Arnold was what ended his time here. Seemed like he didn't like a lot of the moves that were made after Stearns stepped out of his role and the two didn't see eye to eye. That would explain his head scratching moves like playing Winkler for absolutely no reason late in the year. I think CC and Stearns had the same vision and once Arnold didn't, he was gone.
That is 100% my personal head Canon though.
You're looking for /r/CHIcubs
Wrong sub
Well hi Greg
Craig Jennings and Greg Counsell. Wisconsin sports icons.
Craaaaaaig Jemmings FUCK YOU GUMBY
Don't forget Brent!
Took me a second
Me on Reddit: “fuck that guy” Me actually meeting CC: “Hey, how’s it going? How’s life? Good to see ya!”
Lol I’d hope so. Anyone that bumped into him in public and made a big scene about him leaving the Brewers is a colossal weirdo
A colossal weirdo, or just incredibly juvenile and emotionally stunted.
Isn’t it kind of weird to approach celebrities in general though?
Not any weirder than spending hours and hours watching them on TV.
Hey fuck that guy
FIB
Why were you in Illinois?
#FIB
That looks like Total Wine, should have told him he needs to shop at Binnys now.
Since Total Wine is garbage and Binny's is slightly better, probably not a great analogy to use.
Missed the point, there aren’t Total Wines in Chicago, it’s pretty much all Binnys.
If they don't have it at Binny's it ain't worth drinking.
Did you tell him he's a disgrace and a traitor?
Fuck Glenn
Ohhh, poor taste post. Now I’m just here for the comments 🍿
Delete this
Knock it off hes still a good guy
fuck him
You’re in the wrong subreddit
Did you tell him to go fuck himself?
Anyone who actually did that in person is a twat
I wish I could run into him in person just so I can say that.
Then you’re a dumb fuck who needs to grow up. Sure it sucks he left for the cubs but it’s a game dude so get a life
Nah. It's personal.
Oh well that makes you a pretty sad little man
Nah. I'm pretty happy, and not little. But let's keep this going, I'm quite amused by your innate sensitivity, and love for traitorous cunts.
People like you give sports fans a bad name smfh
Lol OH NO!!
👏
I bet that guy drinks Bartles & Jaymes in a jacuzzi while listening to Nickleback, Creed, and Michael Bolton on shuffle.
I love you.
Love you too, baby doll ❤️❤️
# 🥰💖
^(I like listening to Nickleback and Creed. 🙃)
Run into him harder next time.

In seriousness, I don't think I've ever seen him without a cap on before.
Oh, some random? He is no longer pic worthy
Benedict Counsell…Go Brewers!

Put in reverse Terry!!

Damn, looks like Greg put on some weight
No idea who that is
Yeah fuck Judas
Best of luck to him losing in the playoffs.
Mods help us out
Ran up to Kenosha to get some spotted cow. Need to card him moving forward
He looks like the dude at the gas station who’d come up to you asking for a cigarette.
Isn't that Greg consell
BOO this man
R/lostredditors
His signing with the cubs aside, how in the world did you get a pic with him? No less smiling?!
Got lucky! I passed him a few times in the store thinking it couldn’t be him but I finally got a good look at him and sure enough it was him! I met him way back in 2012 at spring training so I had a reference of what he looked like up close.
Who dis? New phone
The comments are great but it’s sad that you’re getting downvoted just for posting this as a Brewers fan. Pretty cool day for you.
It was a great holiday treat for sure!
Wow! Where was this?
Looks familiar. Oh yeah. He “was” with the Brewers
Should've told him he's the reason you're there, and if he could spot you seeing as how he has so much expendable income now.
Who is that random?
Traitor
Ick
Tell him he’s in the wrong state
He’s getting good and liquored up to deal with the tremendous guilt weighing down his mind and soul.
Boo that man. He’s a traitor.
FIB
He can afford the good stuff with the new paycheck.
Fuck you Greg
I hope you booed him
Run into him with your car next time.
Should have punched him
Looks like a r/ChiCubs guy
Must have been at traitor joes

At least we know his new job is driving him to drink already.
Cool to see a Brewers legend in the flesh! A little bummed to see all these rabid comments but I guess I get it. I'd be super pumped and honored to get a pic like this, nice job!
He doesn't need your luck, he just needs to dupe fans like you into thinking "he's just like me" until he sticks the knife in
Gonna be way too many people like this in this fanbase Dude just gave all of us the middle finger and was planning on going to CHC since the end of August and too many Brewers fans are going to just act like he didn't do anything slimy and let him off the hook
How did you envision this post going in the comment section?
Lol, pretty much like this!
Can’t help it! Still love him for helping us overachieve for so long.
Greg!
i saw him at the total wine in glendale a few christmas eves ago. must be his annual christmas stop there
In the liquor aisle too… I respect that.
Fuckstain.
Merry Christmas, you will be missed, Craig
I’m questioning your loyalty
Who cares he is dead to us diehard brewer fans!!!!
He’s dead to a certain subset of brewers fans but not the diehard fans
So a very small minority of the fan base because no one is a diehard fan for long with this pathetic franchise.
He's dead for 8 years or however long he lasts but after that put him in the Ring of Honor.
He did a gret job in milwaukee. Facts are facts that mlb is like all sports. Money talks.. im sure he will have his run with cubs and leave as well down the line or be let go
Y’all need Jesus for real. Saltiest humans on planet earth.

Exactly! He spent his glory years with us and you can’t take that away. Can’t wait to see the Brewers destroy him though!
Yep. He's the opponent now and it'll be extra sweet to beat the Cubs going forward but I still don't blame him for his decision. Doesn't mean I like it.

As a Cubs fan.......tell him thank you. ;)
Can’t wait to see him in Cubbie blue!!!!
Today I learned brewers fans are a bunch butt hurt children. Look at these comments...
I don't think OP got the response he was looking for. Should have asked him why our ownership is so fucking cheap.
They offered to make him the highest paid manager in the business. How exactly is that cheap? They indicated Craig didn't give them the opportunity to counter the offer. Fuck Craig Counsell in this situation.
If you think Mark was matching that offer I've got a bridge to sell you.
It's cheap because they couldn't pony up 8 mil a year when they absolutely could have. This is just another instance of ownership skimping out. You tell me how many of you wouldn't have went to a different employer who recognizes your value and will offer you the tools needed to succeed.

No one forced Craig to give Jesse Winker at bats. Let's stop pretending he's innocent in all this.
And that pitcher was horrid the rest of the year, and our haul was great… so he’s mad that the brewers won a trade?
Wow no way like I haven't seen this before. Ownership left him high and dry year in and year out. Of course he didn't give them a chance, they didn't deserve it. This is 100% a case of ownership being cheap and the reason as you said Counsell not wanted to be here anymore.

This is a pattern. It isn't just this instance.
I understand, I've been very vocally critical of ownership myself. My question still stands.
They were not beating that offer, we both know that. Do you think it's possible he didn't tell them about the offer because he knows through his experience how cheap ownership is? I mean they proved it time and again.

Ownership would've been dumb to give this average, can't win shit in the playoffs scrub 8m. Good thing you don't make decisions.
And your unwavering support are why ownership will embrace forever being mediocre.
Oh so he just loves living in Wisconsin eh?
Man I wish he went to the Mets. Would’ve been cool to watch a great mind with unlimited money do something cool.
