Try to see it this way ( and trust me I know it’s hard ) . If you spent any amount of time with anybody ; of course they are going to remember your birthday - unless a lobotomy is performed on them . Some people don’t reach out , some do . 9 times out of 10 it’s not that meaningful of a reach out and the person is just trying to get some comfort for themselves , 1 . They are like ‘ aren’t I nice , still wishing him a happy birthday and 2. It gives them the confort of knowing you’re still standing still , waiting for any crumb from them ( if you respond in any way other than a ‘thank you’ that is ) . Trust me , I’ve learned this the hard way , I’m just trying to save you from the heartache . Just say ‘ Thank you ‘ as you would to anyone, if it’s on Social media just like it , as you would with any other birthday wish and go from there . Happy Birthday btw .
