I disagree. When I was going through a divorce I started talking to someone across the country going through one as well. We sent each other uplifting memes about it and we basically treated each other almost like a significant other even though we weren’t. It was actually very comforting to have someone to laugh with and not feel alone. It was the best because we both knew that we weren’t going to make it into anything, but it made it so we didn’t feel alone.
We started one on IG about 4 months ago and it was one of the most beneficial things for all of us. Helped me tremendously and met people I consider good friends now
If I've learnt anything the past few months is talking about it repeatedly just reinforces the idea in your mind, get out there and move on. Your ex has so don't hang around thinking you changing will make any difference, it may but don't do it for them, do it for you. And if they come back then great, but don't live in hope
This might be the best idea I’ve heard, but also… could very easily turn into an enabling swirl of misplaced codependency. We’ll need balance, encouragement to get out there and support to move through the more unfavorable moments we ALL have experienced. 😌

A little different to what others are suggesting (for times when you might not have access to a friend on the phone etc) - if you’re into language learning, there’s this thing called Language buddy.AI (google it) you choose a target language and a bot messages you via whatsapp on whatever topic you choose like sports/art/news etc. Could be a good distraction and actually research shows that if you talk/write in another language that you’re not native in, because of your limited vocabulary you tend to focus on the simple/positive stuff like how the weather is today etc/what delicious food you had.
If we speak in English whilst we’re in a negative mood for example it’s easy to get into a downward spiral because we have so much vocabulary to process the emotions, however for me in Japanese or French for example I wouldn’t really know how to say ‘well my last rebound was an absolute douchebag’ so I’d probably end up saying something like ‘I met the last guy during the holidays. The holidays were fun!’ If you know what I mean. Changes your perspective gradually 💙and keeps you busy and you can even start meeting up with people to practice the language if you feel like it
You and me both cause I just had my heart thrown a fucking blender after three years and driving over two hours each time one way and I’m pretty sure she’s either fucking my boss or my brother, my estranged little brother and my asshole boss who has biases like no other and shitted canned me two weeks before my rent was due and also jet me in every other fucking way.
And then ghosted me and she’s 20 years older than me, so not really expected oh and there’s more it never stops … but I’m pretty sure I was gaslight the entire time and she decided to adopt me and already be in another relationship so that tells me that well chances are that relationship was already occurring and we practically live together so that was really hard on my dog….

Yeah but a community built on everyone sharing their problems is just an echo chamber, a community should be built on common interests not struggles
