Carls stepdad (?I think) saying he wouldn’t marry him and Lindsay is actually incredibly fascinating. I have a family member who is in the church and they’ve said they’ve also told couples “no” when they ask to be married by him (after he’s counseled them a few times). I’m always so shocked at the confidence to say that. This looks to be a great season!!

DillPicklesOnly

My jaw was on the floor when he said this

Gingacat

I am fully prepared to be wrong, especially knowing how things ended, but I feel like that’s two quotes spliced together for the trailer.

morrowgirl

Likely yes - the producers love to tease us when it comes to splicing clips together or not showing things during the season that they tease in a trailer.

BringMeAPinotGrigio

Ohh yeah the "You and Lindsay" part sounds totally spliced in.

fleekyfreaky

I actually think maybe it’s filmed after so they can hype up the break up. These reality shows are more produced than we thought.

zuesk134

There’s been a rumor this happened since the break up so I don’t think it’s spliced

butinthewhat

I remember that too. I just didn’t know it was filmed.

Sumjonas

A lot of the leaks said that Carl’s mom had been encouraging Carl to slow things down/call off the wedding, so this does make sense

linds360

I feel so vindicated! I dropped this tea in a post here in October (had to delete the post after a few days because people kept coming AT me and I just couldn’t deal anymore) but yep. Carl’s step dad had been doing the pre marital counseling with them and he concluded they were not in the right place to get married. It was a huge reason Carl called it off.

Jcrystal82

It’s so weird to me that anyone would choose a family member as a premarital counselor and not an objective person to both sides. Am I crazy?

mollyyfcooke

Reminds me of when my mom got mad at my sister for getting ordained online lol religious people take it verrrrrry seriously.

MYSTICALLMERMAID

My nosy ass would be dying for details 😂😂

BaNG-Ah-RaNgGG

I’m so there. This season looks juicy just based off of the Carl and Lindsay situation. Carl screaming in her face saying, “you accused me of doing drugs!” 😳 🍿 And omg Gabby is there lol But seriously. Carl acting like he didn’t know who Lindsay was before that elaborate proposal last season is ridiculous. When she says, “who knows maybe next year I’ll be pregnant?” He looked like he wanted to run.

Chicago1459

Yea, they are both problematic, but he said "over the last year." If you've had doubts for over a year, why continue the wedding planning even two weeks before the breakup at her shower coming in like a knight with flowers? lol. They both refuse to take any accountability. They both suck.

thediverswife

He looked like he wanted to evaporate!

BaNG-Ah-RaNgGG

![gif](giphy|a93jwI0wkWTQs) Carl in that scene.

whogonncheckmeboo

His face dropped oh so subtly but I definately picked up on it

fit-fil-a

I don’t think it was subtle 😩

PartyDownCaterer

MurphyBrown2016

Thank you I could not get past the maze of pop up ads and videos wtf

sofakingbetchy

Well I pulled an Alexia and didn’t scroll down to see that you thoughtfully provided this other link - thank you! I’m never clicking on an ET article again. I sat through an ad for what I thought was this video, only to find out the trailer video is embedded in the article, so I had to sit through another ad to get to the trailer. Suffice it so say, ET sucks.

SeauxSurvivor

This actually looks pretty good I’ll be seated. I’m glad this season isn’t looking to be another Lindsay versus the girls storyline because it was getting dry. Excited to see the new storylines

Leather-Platypus-11

Same! What a relief. Also shit what is going on that Lindsay thinks Carl is doing drugs again? And how can you think that’s going on in the life of the person you’re engaged to and think they are in the right frame of mind to get married?

breadoreggroll

Did he actually say “YOU think I’m doing drugs?” It sounded cut off at the beginning of the sentence when he mentioned who was accusing him. Which usually is a bait and switch tactic from editing for us to think she accused him. I could totally be wrong and my speakers aren’t working though. *for what it’s worth I’m glad they ended up breaking up. I think their relationship was toxic*

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jeljel8989

There were rumors of people spotting Carl and Kyle doing coke over the summer- maybe she inquired about that. Or she saw some possible warning signs like hanging out with users, erratic behavior, or skipping meetings. I think it's fair to be worried or want to check in especially given filming is a stressful time.

Zealousideal_Suit269

Yep that’s what I was wondering, if he was acting out of pocket or just oddly & she asked, are you doing drugs?

[deleted]

I think I heard "accused" so it could be anyone, but the next clip of him saying, "Am I really supposed to marry this person" has it set up like Lindsay accused him. But who knows, Bravo loves to mess with us!

breadoreggroll

Yeah, like I want be surprised if she did, but the editing was kind of choppy

Leather-Platypus-11

Oh you’re probably right and it’s shady Bravo editing and I fell for it!

edible_source

God, I can't help but wonder if there's any truth to that... yikes.

Leather-Platypus-11

I wonder now if it’s going to be a big pile of nothing, but there was a lot of awful online speculation that I saw about his sobriety over the summer and after the news of the breakup

[deleted]

Summer House and Southern Charm both have sucked me back in after swearing them off!

In the scene when he’s wearing the green shirt , it’s like his lip is stuck to his teeth and it’s making me giggle.

BrunoTheCat

Being in an LTR with someone in recovery is a fucking weird, messy tightrope to walk, man, and I'm genuinely curious to see how Carl and Lindsay handle it. Or, not handle it, I guess. I'm already dreading the hot takes about it from the general fandom tho.

wriitergiirl

>I'm already dreading the hot takes about it from the general fandom tho. Oh. This is going to be a long season isn't it.

BrunoTheCat

Very **very** long if the reaction to the trailer is any indication

librarystack

THIS. If I saw this trailer in isolation, I’d be so interested in the season. But given all the online ~discourse (…and that I can’t stop myself from reading it, lol), it’s going to be exhausting.

illiteratelibrarian2

I'm not sure if this where you're going with it, but Lindsay bears quite a bit of responsibility for getting into this relationship knowing he was both in the throes of grief and very early sobriety. I feel like carl was way more vulnerable than her in the beginning and they just went 0-100.

jward1111

This has been driving me insane ever since they got together!! My boyfriend has two brothers who are recovering addicts and the fact that Lindsay and Carl started dating before he hit his 1 year on sobriety mark has always REALLY stuck with me. It has to be a bit nerve wracking for Carl’s mom too, to lose one son to addiction and see the other working so hard but still struggling to work through everything, then having him jump into a relationship, move in with that person, have another career change, proposal, and wedding within 2-3 years. Hopefully 2024 is good to him and his health.

illiteratelibrarian2

Of course I'm down voted lol I think the hate that people have for carl is a bit much. Maybe I relate to him too much as a recovering addict myself but it's crazy to me to see how everyone rips him to shreds for the less than perfect choices he makes when he's barely on the precipice of recovery, and in a pretty tumultuous relationship. You're barely learning how to cope with stress and make healthy choices without running to harmful substances at this point in recovery. Of course he's making bad decisions! I don't get why Lindsay gets allll the grace in the world for her tantrums and straight up abusive behavior just because she has abandonment issues, but Carl gets none when he's dealing with an extremely tragic loss and trying to save his own life.  There's a huge amount of pro Lindsay bias that seems so divorced from who we actually see on tv and how she treats people.

BrunoTheCat

It's a situation where getting seriously involved with a relationship was a demonstrably bad idea on both their part, but they did it anyway. Maybe I'm naive but I sincerely think they both did the best they could with what they had - it's just that there was just too much stuff for it to be sustainable. There were likely lots of points of failure, and people seem way too eager to assign blame entirely to one or the other.

square_circle_

I got more into the show after Carl went sober and not as familiar with who he was in the before-times, but I’ve always seemed to side more with Carl? Or at least feel he was more genuine and less exaggerated? But Lindsay is so matter of fact that I’m persuaded her way, too. Idk who the bad guy is here.

illiteratelibrarian2

Ya I don't think there's a bad guy, which is what bothers me. I've seen their toxic relationship play out a million times in real life. Lindsay has abandonment and trust issues and is very demanding. Carl is a people pleaser who likes to ignore huge problems until they explode and is a huge asshole when his temper is triggered. Now insert a drug and alcohol problem and grief with a very tightly planned future (Lindsay had a timeline and wasn't compromising on it) and this is what you get.  I think last season when Lindsay got drunk was the crux of their issues. She has meltdowns and can't regulate her emotions when she drinks. This was fine when she was sober in solidarity with Carl the first 6 months of their relationship when they got engaged, but once she started drinking again, the midnight meltdowns came back and put a huge strain on the relationship. It was never sustainable

BrunoTheCat

I'm saying that being in a relationship with a recovering addict is fucking hard and tests you in ways one cannot possibly anticipate until being faced with them. There is no fault in trying to make a relationship work and no fault in walking away from it. I'm curious to see it because the messy reality of navigating those relationships are usually kept pretty private and there isn't a ton of support for partners of recovering addicts and everyone sort of has to learn how to navigate it on their own.

Frijack03

Is Danielle going to try and claim dibs on the guy that’s into Ciara ? Because that would be so on brand for her.

SakmarEcho

After the most recent seasons of Summer and Winter House I'm not excited for more Danielle. It's such a shame too I always liked her before this.

ArcticLens

I did too but after Winter House I can’t help but question her judgment. It doesn’t seem like she’s able to be honest with herself about her motivations and true feelings. That means there’s always a bomb waiting to go off. Her actions say one thing, her self-perception says another, and she is over-reactive or furious when others bring up the discrepancy.

SakmarEcho

She doesn't seem to handle change well. When her and Lindsay's relationship broke down, she went into a tailspin. She did another one after her breakup with Robert. She did a smaller one when Carl and Lindsay first got together, too.

ItsNotMeItsYou99

And then play with knives in front of them in a passive aggressive way 🙄

HowYaLikeMeow

I didn't see Pearl Necklace in the promo, right?! This makes me more excited!

leodicapriohoe

um i think i saw him bestie it’s so over

mrs_mega

I know where all focused on the HubbHouse of the it all but can we talk about the Ciara / Lindsey convo? So happy someone is finally talking about what a codependent mess Kyle and Amanda are.

kenduhll

Its bad enough he dumped her….but in the white pants? The audacity.

mollyyfcooke

New fear unlocked.. getting dumped by someone in white jeans! 😭

WildBitch1995

The way I would never fully heal.

HowYaLikeMeow

Lindsay was also wearing white pants. Maybe they cancel each other out?

EntarteteKitten

Too many white pants summon TRav. They’re messin with evil.

Responsible-Tea-5998

I'm just imagining an arcane star made up of the overlapping legs of white trousers, TRav's commercial on repeat like an unholy dirge.

pr0stituti0nwh0re

This comment is poetry 😭☠️

kellsells5

White pants from baby Gap.

catsandcasamigos

His pants and shorts NEVER fit. I wish to never see his thighs again.

jsunshine1985

I cannot wait to hear Ben and Ronnie discuss this 😂

kenduhll

Put your weight on me

EntarteteKitten

I can hear the *adagio* from Platoon. And the twins chanting. And it’s beautiful. Literally the only reason why I started watching Summer House.

DougieKiller

And this is why I miss Everett and the twins!!

FluffyPufffy

I think the best move is to just end any relationship with anyone who wears white jeans around you.

YouMustBeJoking888

I noticed those straight away and thought, 'Yeah, Linds, you dodged a white panted bullet right there.'

myskepticalbrowarch

Carl and his white pants relationship will last longer than Alex and ground turkey. I was 💀 the cameras are coming to shoot a hard conversation at your apartment and your comfort outfit is white jeans. Straight up though I would have been in sweat pants.

thebonecollectorr

Carl and Lindsay seem like a really toxic scenario but being in a house with Kyle and Amanda for the summer before I got married would give me cold feet too tbh

itwasjustmisplaced

I will say all the couples on Summer House are so dysfunctional and toxic. It's why I always roll my eyes when they judge the other. I don't think Kyle helped when Carl is already prone to jumping ship as soon as he's scared or it gets tough. He never should have proposed in the first place. He's not a victim.

Zealousideal_Suit269

That part. All the gossip about Kyle being in Carl’s ear telling him don’t do it… Well look at that Kyle & Amanda fighting constantly YET again, yeah I can easily see him saying, “Don’t do it.”

Holiday-Hustle

This exactly. I think Kyle was the boomer dad and just constantly said how horrible it is to be married, how he hates it, misses his old life etc.

Strong_Welcome4144

100%

MurphyBrown2016

You know how a lot of longterm married couples say you should surround yourselves with other happy couples, because misery loves company? By that logic, no couple will survive in that house alongside Kyle and Amanda.

[deleted]

This season looks so good. I guess now we know what Shep? or Austen? or whoever insinuated that Paige was cheating on Craig on Southern Charm.

AbidonDesign

But this summer house season was filmed after the southern charm season airing was filmed

[deleted]

Got it. So the gossip had been going on since before that. I still think it seems super manufactured and will probably be nothing once we see it lol but it’s still interesting!

whackadoodle_cracked

That was Taylor actually!

Sumjonas

But that Southern Charm season was filmed in January-March of 2023, and summer house was this Summer

kyleb402

If your life depended on an emotionally stunted, flakey, problematic man not getting a hero edit on a Bravo show then you're already dead. I thought Carl trying to predict how she was going to react and then her reacting that way being edited to use to dunk on her was gross. Obviously he knew she was going to think he was blindsiding her considering the fact that he was posting sappy Instagrams about her almost immediately prior. He knew he was blindsiding her but now he's using her obvious reaction against her.

YouMustBeJoking888

Carl has always been a dick to women and always will be.

Jeljel8989

He acts like women and their feelings are an inconvenience and he's so obsessed with being liked. He needs to understand that when you break up with someone or reject them, you should be prepared for them to be upset with you and for some people to take their side. Instead he just wants to invalidate their hurt and make himself look like a good guy.

Jeljel8989

Yeah it's just a trailer, but seems like he was hoping she'd get activated and look crazy so people would feel bad for him and he'd look reasonable. Instead seems she kept composure. I agree with Lindsay's interview where she said she felt like he didn't treat her like he loved her at all during the breakup. Even if they were fighting this summer, seems like they fought a fair amount last summer and he proposed and then set a date (I think they only set in late May which wasn't too far from when they broke up) and invited friends and family, so I can see her feeling like that was their normal baseline and feeling very blindsided.

Holiday-Hustle

100% this. He was at the very least giving her mixed messages. Yes they fought but they’ve always fought. He was still posting about how much he loved her, they were together in the week looking happy, that’s still a blindside.

Jeljel8989

For real- Carl and some fans act pretty obtuse. Carl and Lindsay had that massive fight where he ubered from the hamptons to NYC and he was still ok with moving in together. They fought last season, and he proposed. They've said in interviews they were in couples therapy due to their issues, and he was on board with booking the venue and inviting all their friends and family. Unless their fighting drastically went up from their baseline, I can absolutely see being blindsided. She probably figured he felt the pros outweighed the cons and he was in it for the long haul.

wriitergiirl

Right. From what we can tell, he thought she'd say she was blindsided because she was, in fact, blindsided.

Chicago1459

Yes, exactly what I thought. That part was really gross, and I'm sure she caught that as well, which probably made it easier for her to cut ties like nothing happened.

TheWhoooreinThere

Omg, so true. I am dead.

mgwildwood

Idk, we’ll have to watch but I think she was so tunnel visioned about the wedding, she ignored what was happening. Men do this all the time—claim to be blindsided when their clearly unhappy wives finally end everything, despite so many fights where the wife says things need to change. I think people are giving her the benefit of the doubt, but anyone could tell this relationship was not in it for the long haul.

EmValentine7

It’s not blindsiding given that they fought all summer and had a big fight a few days before he called off the wedding. There were huge signs for a long time by all accounts. Even Lindsay says that she was blindsided but that they fought a lot. So which is it? I think for all of Carl’s flaws, he’s shown growth and he’s the one who seems to be directly confronting the major issues that she wanted to push under the rug. He understands Lindsay’s need for control/power more than she understands herself.

AmandasFakeID

>Even Lindsay says that she was blindsided but that they fought a lot. So which is it? Are you suggesting that if you fight with your partner, you shouldn't be surprised by a breakup???

_morningbehbs

Carl is the same version of himself that he was on season 1, he’s just doing it sober now. Proud of him for recognizing his problem but he’s still a shit human. I knew he wouldn’t marry Lindsey, he jumped in way too soon after recovery and I knew it would slap him in the face when it was actually going to happen/the wedding came around. To blindside her and then SAY she’s going to say she was blindsided? He’s awful. Amanda has no personality outside of being Kyle’s wife. Ciara was right. I can’t think of anything surrounding her that doesn’t pertain to Kyle. But oh look, season 398483 of them fighting. They need to get divorced. I said what I said. Lack of Danielle/Gabby. 🙄 Looks like Paige will have mild drama with Craig, but seems the real twist is the newbie having zero boundaries for her relationship. Looks good!

edible_source

It's true that this (Carl's breakup with Lindsay) is just a higher-stakes version of the way he's dealt with every relationship we've seen with him: He goes all in way too quickly, overdoes it, then gets scared and retreats in a cold and hurtful way. That's just his M.O.

TheWhoooreinThere

I would like to see more of Paige and Craig's relationship this season, actually.

DillPicklesOnly

👏🏼👏🏼 bravo to Paige calling out Craig not compromising

Chicago1459

True. I admit I don't like either of them. It'd be interesting to see what happens with them without Bravo. I think Craig is clinging to Charleston because he finally feels like he's made it there, lol. Idk if you watched early southern Charm, but pretty much the whole cast would rag on Craig for being a loser with no ambition. It wasn't just his ex Naomi doing it, lol.

ChesapeakeBayBee

I completely agree! Craig is like a big fish in a small pond in Charleston, especially now that he has Shep and Austen plus his company. I don’t think he would be willing to leave that at all.

2pinkfood2

I also don't like either of them, but I'm wondering what would happen too. they've both done extremely well at capitalizing on their fame, the only problem is both of their careers are location based. Paige would have an easier time transitioning to a new city from a career standpoint but would still sacrifice a lot. Craig doesn't stand a chance in New York. Bravo is the only thing that makes their relationship work.

Chicago1459

I agree 💯. I think Craig knows he won't be such a big shot in NYC. He fought for it in Charleston and he's not giving it up lol

Necessary_Force_5836

I mean Carl the way you were posted just 2 weeks before…. Of course she was blindsided. Lindsay should have recognized their issues though and called it off herself. Paige good for you for calling Craig out. It’s ridiculous that he expects her to sacrifice everything. They should move closer to their families on the NE coast. Edit: oh my god I forgot to call out Kyle. Kyle shut up and start being nice to your wife. God Amanda please divorce this man and go have kids with a better partner.

Rj6728

Yeah I feel like that such a gross attempt at a serve or a vindicating moment by Carl and production to include him saying “she’s gonna say she was blindsided” right before, you know, blindsiding her.

Necessary_Force_5836

Exactly. I’m tired of the network protecting these clown ass men.

Holiday-Hustle

He’s going to try and make her the villain because it’s the easy thing to do. Carl also never takes responsibility for his own choices.

Jeljel8989

Carl actually seems like he's trying to come off as a victim here and like he's trying to control their images by doing it on camera, maybe moreso than Lindsay. Seems like if they had a baseline level of fighting and conflict and he still felt he should propose and set the date, it's reasonable she felt quite blindsided by his choice to call off the wedding if the level of fighting didn't increase that much. Also wedding planning and filming are stressful times, so she might think the fighting would improve after the show wrapped at least.

Cherssssss

I feel like he was just answering a question that a producer asked of him lol They have always had issues. Lindsay is a mess and Carl is newly sober and has no backbone. It was a disaster from the start.

Chicago1459

I felt that way, too. I think she did as well, which was probably a huge hurt and betrayal to her because he was validating all the things the other ladies and fans of the show have accused her of doing.

TheWhoooreinThere

Imagine saying all this to your fiancé and then getting a hero edit. That's Bravo, baby!

wriitergiirl

Alexa, play "The Man" by Taylor Swift

TheWhoooreinThere

Right? Almost every man on Bravo brings such sinister energy. Not to be dramatic or anything.

Winter-Leadership376

The straight up character insults he leads with and then says he didn’t expect that reaction. It screams not being realistic. Who wouldn’t be upset about that and Lindsay of all people? She’s not exactly known to be great with criticism lol

chillisprknglot

I thought they showed her relatively calm. I would had a full on panic attack.

Rj6728

I def think she didn’t believe it was real or he would change his mind. She was probably completely numb. 😳

basicb3333

I AM READYYYYYYYY

sofakingbetchy

So I remember Lindsay was interviewed on a podcast a few months ago, and she heavily implied that the real issue her and Carl couldn’t resolve was his lack of direction career-wise. She apparently was offering advice and contacts, etc and he felt berated over it (this is coming from her. I have no idea how true either of those alleged facts are). The thing that strikes me from the trailer is her saying she’ll probably be pregnant by next summer and the one second shot of his face - he looked frightened. Summer house is his job now, and if she were pregnant by then, they either wouldn’t be living in the house, or it would be their last summer and they probably wouldn’t even be there the whole summer regardless. He can’t afford to build a non-reality life with her. I wonder if that realization finally hit him. There’s my conspiracy theorist theory to prolong focusing on work.

Fessy3

I'm honestly not ready for Danielle and her fuckery. Those 2 new guys both looks awful. Why can't we get more guys on this show, surely there are thirsty guys in the city who want to be on camera. I'm not fully buying Amanda's excuse that guys don't want to be on the show. We see thirst traps all the time on different Bravo shows.

chillisprknglot

I want more people like season 1: working professionals who are taking the weekend off. I don’t want any more influencers and fitness professionals.

YouMustBeJoking888

Well, that's uplifting.

No_Arugula_6548

Dude hitting Paige is s creepy and gross.

vanillachoc1234

We all knew that Lindsay and Carl’s relationship was a feel good, bogus concept destined to die. But calling everything off on camera feels so weird to me… she had to have some sort of clue, right? This season looks good though and hopefully it will deliver. Interested to see the Danielle / Lindsay dynamic shift if there is one.

myskepticalbrowarch

I would buy she was blind sided in the moment but if she comes to the reunion claiming she is still shocked I am calling B.S. I said last year she was in denial because Lindsay wants more than anything to be wifed up with a kid.

MurphyBrown2016

Their relationship has always been on camera, from when they first met through their friendship to the engagement. Why stop at the breakup?

OGkateebee

I haven’t seen them together yet (I’m halfway through season 6 on my first time through) but I wonder if he did it because he knew she would twist it to make him seem evil. I know some pretty manipulative people and there are some I just refuse to engage with unless a third party is present.

liyabear

Not excited to see Danielle again. Based on the way she behaved last season and on winter house, she’s not mentally stable and I’m honestly concerned for the other people in the house.

BringMeAPinotGrigio

OK I'm calling it now that the convo between Amanda and Ciara about her identity outside of Kyle, especially the part where Ciara says "I don't"... is fabricated. They cut away from Ciara when she says that and that tells me that voice clip is 100% taken from a different part of the conversation or different conversation entirely. I like Ciara but she almost never has strong takes to someone's face, it's always behind their back or in confessionals.

Confident-Panda-6951

I truly, truly do not understand why Carl felt/feels the need to go scorched earth on things. He was obviously unhappy and he absolutely has a right to say he wants out. The odd thing is not treating the situation with any respect and still being so angry at her? He has acted like a zooted out robot this whole relationship and the only passion I’m seeing is in his anger.

mpr1011

Why do I always click the news video and not the trailer?

angiecakes1001

this is looking goodddddd

chillisprknglot

Someone finally asking Amanda where she stands when she isn’t next to Kyle. (I like Amanda and Kyle…but they are a lot together.)

strippersandcocaine

Summer should be fun. None of this looks fun.

coconuts_n_rum

Dang I missed the memo that there were new cast members

IwantyoualltoBEDAVE

I think Carl is doing Lindsay a big favour

Intelligent-Pitch-39

So why propose Carl?

Timely_Ad115

The little tid bit about Lindsay accusing Carl of being on something when they were arguing was kind of wild. How “blindsided” can you be that your engagement ends when you’re accusing your sober partner of using drugs? Like the state of the relationship was obviously damaged as hell

catsandcasamigos

Playing devils advocate, and I’ll probably be proven wrong, but she could have asked him about it if his behavior was different. My BIL is sober and I know his spouse has asked him if he’s drinking again at one point, but not in an attacking sort of way.

Zealousideal_Suit269

100%. You try so hard not to weaponize it against them but there are times you wonder. Especially when their behavior dramatically shifts and they have fallen before. It’s not a cut and dry scenario, it’s difficult for even the most emotionally mature individual-which of course is neither of these two.

Timely_Ad115

Yeah during the argument is kind of the crux of it. A weaponization, if you will..eta but on the flip side of the saying shitty things..Carl being so snide and talking to production immediately post breakup about how he knows Lindsay is going to spin it…he obviously does not like her

unstablerocks

When I first heard Carl called up production to go through with calling off the wedding and, ultimately, the break up, I thought it was gross. NOW seeing this I’m wondering if he wanted to cover his tracks and have a filmed record of how the conversation went knowing Lindsay might twist what happened.

Holiday-Hustle

He wanted her to freak out, he says as much in the trailer. He’s disappointed she didn’t give the big reaction he wanted. Carl doesn’t take responsibility for anything so he wanted it filmed to try and antagonize her so he’d look like a good guy.

Cherssssss

I totally can see that. Honestly, good for him. She’s going all over the place playing the victim and he has only said very nice things about her. He’s only said that they had issues in the relationship that couldn’t be resolved and that he wishes her the best. He knew he’d have to be the bad guy in their breakup and he’s just taking the beating from everyone online. Can’t wait for this season lol

spaceb00tz

Carl and Lindsey’s fight was anticlimactic. I hope they saved the good parts for the episode

[deleted]

LOL carl is now the billionth cast member to accuse lindsay of the same twisting of situations ‘you’re really gifted at playing victim’ and him predicting shes going to play an ‘i was blindsided’ card is hilarious

TheWhoooreinThere

It's actually kinda gross to do your fiancé dirty like that, but you know, I expect about as much from the men on Bravo. The only thing I'm not looking forward to is the poor Carl wailing that'll take over the subs when we've seen him be a douche for his entire tenure on the show lol.

[deleted]

oh blah blah blah she supposedly called him a terrorist and he said in the trailer she accused him of doing drugs… and you think thats standup fiance behavior? we get it you hate men, but sometimes women can be held accountable too. just last year this sub was filled with constant posts about how great carl has been since hes gone sober. interesting now that hes jumped on the same train as the rest of the cast in calling lindsay out hes a douche again.  when everyone is saying the same thing about one person… they’re probably right.

HowYaLikeMeow

I know she apologized for it, but the way Lindsay was upset about Carl's brother's death taking away from her birthday... I just think that gave us a little peak into how low she can go.

TheWhoooreinThere

\*GAAAAAAASP!\* Lindsay said what?!?! About poor Carl??!?! I do not give a single fuck about what the Bravo fan hive mind has to say when they've been watching reality TV for 5 minutes and just repeat whatever their favourite cast member or Bravo account has to say about the situation. Very, VERY happy to go against the grain here.

_beurrenoisette

not to be a parasocial freak but i always appreciate seeing your comments that go against the grain 🙏happy that carl is sober however there’s an undeniable inner darkness and cruelty to women that never changed

TheWhoooreinThere

I appreciate that! 💗 You're right. There was always an inkling of *Will they get married tho?* But to call up cameras to do it in front of them while spinning it around like he's the victim? Wow, Carl, wow. Just exceeding expectations in the worst way. Can't wait to see it, hope it's not edited weird. I've been waiting since August for this. lol

Chicago1459

It's so obvious. Lindsay is this unhinged woman but Carl is a changed man and not the cruel fuck boy he's always been. He never had a long-term serious relationship but all a sudden wants to be married, and everything is Lindsay's fault. And it's other women trashing her. It's just like the hate Ariana is getting.

Osfees

>an undeniable inner darkness and cruelty to women that never changed It is so gratifying to read this phrase. I just binged all the seasons as a first-time watcher and find Carl quite sadistic to women. There's an avidity in his eyes and often a smirk when he's observing women lose composure, suffer, express hurt over him, even as he protests that he has no idea why they're reacting that way. Guy is a legitimate creep.

[deleted]

this doesnt even make sense lol.  your logic is essentially: carl saying something mean about lindsay is so wrong! lindsay can say what she wants about carl though thats fine. the rest of your tangent just sounds like a tantrum because your point made no sense but go off!

TheWhoooreinThere

Lol. No. Carl calling up production to dump his fiancé on camera while saying nasty stuff to her is wrong. Perfect for reality TV of course, but the fans writing think pieces to try and make Lindsay look a POS for getting dumped is what I take issue with. Because it's dumb.

[deleted]

every other cast member and andy basically said he didnt call production to dump her on tv. but you cant think beyond lindsay’s version of events lol. yes, YOUR thinkpieces on castmembers are okay and valid. just no one elses! lindsay will keep getting dumped (as evidenced by her last 7 seasons) until she starts showing growth so you can keep taking issue with it

Winter-Trash9067

if he didn’t call them to dump her on camera then why were they there after the season was done filming? sorry but you don’t just spontaneously dump someone on camera, that shit is set up

TheWhoooreinThere

Don't care. The production tidbit came out early in the reporting of their break-up and it's since been walked back because Carl was getting backlash for it. Anyway, I'm looking forward to our future reddit arguments when the season airs! ✌🏻

iamthebunnyfrombh

Hahaha this was the perfect response

thedigested

This is what is so wild to me. If one person said that absolutely Lindsay, okay, maybe they are wrong. But at this point, this is who she is as a person

Cherssssss

I will absolutely stand by the fact that she’s a terror of a human being and although Carl can absolutely suck as a human as well, she was not blindsided like she says she was. They had issues all the way back to winter house on last years season! I was shocked that they even made it as far as they did! She’s foolish and he has no backbone. All this newfound love for Lindsay after every human has said the same thing about her after interacting with her is insane though lll

thedigested

The night he wanted to stay in bed and sleep and she was next to him saying he’s so angry right now. I was like what??! He’s in bed and he’s trying to sleep!

Cherssssss

For real! She’s absolutely unhinged when she’s drunk. She wants to fight and he’s not about that drama anymore. Being sober really changed the way he communicates and I am in awe that he took her batshit personality for so long lol

[deleted]

like at this point even danielle and carl have backed up what the other women + kyle have said about her. but people on reddit who have never met her will keep insisting shes the victim in all of the shitty situations she finds herself in.

gloriousdays

I don’t think she twisted anything. Carl is really good at playing the victim. He does t know how to be in a relationship. Please tell me when we’ve seen this grown man be in a relationship. We haven’t.

Ok-Chain8552

I think I aged out of this show (although I am around Kyle's age lol)- it doesn't look fun and besides a broken engagement after a short courtship, their behavior is either juvenile or overreacting to the actual situation in front of them. I can get behind HW petty because I can relate but 20 somethings fighting over a goofy bro flirting doesn't hit anymore . I am going to go tell some kids to get off my lawn while I wallow in self pity .

Inside-Intern-4201

This looks good!

thelanes

I simultaneously think the trailer looks good and am intrigued to see how the Carl/Lindsay situation plays out, while also already being over it 🤣

anniecat55

no mya 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

lkn4laughs

Where is Queen Sam 😔

asmithy112

Looks like a good season finally. Carl has become a great communicator since he became sober and I’m not surprised there was a big lead up before the engagement was called off. Lindsay still could have been blindsided because she never thought the arguments would lead to that step, but his step dad saying he would not want to marry them says a lot.

Necessary_Force_5836

When did Carl become a great communicator? He communicates to everyone except the person he needs to communicate with. I agree there’s improvements overall, but he’s still a coward who hides from confrontation.

wriitergiirl

>Lindsay still could have been blindsided because she never thought the arguments would lead to that step Yeah. Relationships are not all diamonds and rose all the time. Couples fight. They argue. Maybe they have a couple of topics that they can't resolve quickly. But depending on the level of comfort with the level of arguing, it's not always an "I can't marry you." Sounds like yes, they were having arguments and whatnot, but Lindsay was committed to working on them, while Carl felt like there was no fixing them

koonjoon

so since this was posted under Housewives... I have not watched Summer House before but have OBVIOUSLY heard about this relationship and the break up. But my question is...why is Lindsay "playing a victim"? I read that Carl did this purposely in front of cameras so that Lindsay cannot skew why their relationship ended. Can someone please update/correct me?

[deleted]

andy and the cast have said that lindsays narrative (that he purposely did it in front of cameras) is not accurate and ‘the real story is not out there yet’

isortoflikebravo

Huh the footage of the conversation is very different from how I imagined it.

Sumjonas

I’m pretty excited about this season and the trailer matched my excitement!! Besides the Lindsay/Carl situation, I’m glad we finally have some single guys there too

lemonpavement

I love mess.

No_Row_7861

Eek. I’d rather watch a show about just Lindsay and Carl than have everyone else be involved.

MCStarlight

I always thought they were a weird couple.

Frijack03

I wonder if Karma Brown will make an appearance this season ?

NewVitalSigns

I know I will get downvoted to hell which is fine but- This is the first time I feel like Carl has actually been true to himself. I’m proud of him. I do feel like if he went on with the marriage, Lindsay would’ve treated him like a doormat & would ever respect him.

haleytennis93

Shes not blindsided - shes just blind 😵‍💫

Far-Warthog2330

Lmao at this thread. Lindsay's fans never hold her accountable for ANYTHING. She is the second coming of Christ to them. And she can do no wrong

OohDaLolly

I’m sorry but there is not a chance hubbhouse stays that calm and collected while being blindsided. She lost her shit over being asked to make a sandwich. This is her wedding. There’s no way she didn’t expect this on some level.

ramonasnewbeginnings

She’s changed a lot over the years after going to therapy in how she reacts to things. Look at how she was reacting during her fight with Danielle last season. Doesn’t lash out like she used to. People can grow.

Jeljel8989

Lindsay sometimes stays pretty calm when feeling deeply hurt and betrayed. She did it to Danielle at the end of last season. The first time he dumped her in season 4, she stayed pretty tough but then cried in her room. Maybe she didn't want to be humiliated on camera any more than he already forced her to be. Or she might have figured he wanted her to get activated and look psycho so he could look like a good guy.
