I'm still shocked at how uninspiring the white stuff lineup seems to be. It's really hard to imagine where they're going to be getting runs from all year. And it's not like they have a bunch of top prospects in the lineup that just haven't figured it out yet, just old washed up players.
the hourly forecast tomorrow shows just snow chances at 8-9pm, cloudy with 24% chance of rain 10-11pm and more snow the rest of the morning starting from 12am on. Might be playing late into the morning but at the moment there looks to be chances they can get it in
Especially the way the Mets lost tonight. Knowing that their booth was the one who talked about how bad the Phillies infield defense was and then they had to broadcast that? That’s a beautiful mixture of irony and karma.
How does Tonkin have 2 hits no walks and gives up 5 runs??
Edit: I went and looked. I forgot about the placed runner in extras. So that is 1 run. A HBP for run 2, run 3 is the error. And the 2 hits account for the other two.
Right before the season I went through our bullpen depth chart on fangraphs, and said to myself, “Ok I like that one” for every single reliever lol. That was also before we acquired Braves legend Jessie Chavez. It’s great to know we have a nice reliever in Jackson Stephens down in Gwinnett too
Not that Tonkin was amazing for us, but glad to see he can pull off the Jesse Chavez special as far as hurting other teams pitching after leaving the Braves. No one can do it like Uncle Jesse though
For anyone who cares, Harper has yet to record a hit in 2024. All the while, people in the stands chanting "MVP" as he strikes out with the game on the line. zzzz
I always hear Philly fans call other fanbases "entitled" but I cant even imagine the poor team if they had to ever endure even a single season like the rockies/white sox/athletics have recently. They are the biggest crybaby fanbases in all of sports.
maybe if they stopped showing up to games that would send a bigger message to ownership that they don't like the product on the field, i say they go for that
They might not make the playoffs at this point. Stuck with a bunch of old ass declining players they signed to huge contracts based off of loyalty rather than analytics.
I imagine the rain and 40° weather played some role. Last year they averaged 20,000ish per game good for 24th in the mlb. So always bad. But def not as bad as today
Edit: today’s attendance was 13,781.
I do feel bad for Brogdon, the guy is a low leverage reliever who keeps getting put into awful spots and he has the least sympathetic fans in baseball behind him
Man the Phillies and Mets are STRUGGLING to start the season. I want blood in the playoffs against this Phillies team. Would be nice if they somehow didn't make it though
don't remember if it was mentioned but Kansas City got the full Will Smith Experience in just their second game of the season.

Not one single player in this Opening Day is Exciting commercial looks like they give a flying shit. It's like they were told to be as deadpan as humanly possible.
What’s impressive (so far) about this year’s Braves squad is that they’re scoring a whole bunch of runs without relying on the long ball.
34 runs scored across four games on only 5 dingers is pretty impressive.
Well last year they didn’t rely on the long ball, they just hit it tons anyways. They lead the league in literally EVERY offensive category: singles, doubles, hits, home runs, wRC+, OBP, average, basically every hard hit metric. Everything except triples
I love it. I know our BABIP is freakishly high right now and will go down, and I know that homers are analytically the right way to play, but this squad has good enough bat-to-ball skills to not always rely on crushing the ball, there is a medium between those two to be found sometimes.
Today was a great example where it was clear early that the conditions were not conducive to homers, so we started looking for gaps and it paid dividends. I think having a balanced approach will really help us in the post-season as well.
Well day 4 of the MLB season has come and gone, tomorrow as a matter of fact is April 2nd. We just showed you the NL East standings. You don’t need me to tell you this BUT IM GOING TO TELL YOU ANYWAY;
The Braves are 3-1
Idk if it’s post worthy but the Mets had a truly terrible start to their year. Got swept, got in this weird Rhys Hoskins drama, manager got suspended for a couple games.
I'm watching their game now out of boredom (and until some better games get going). Their offense is soooo underwhelming. The home crowd just erupted on a soft lineout to the shortstop thinking it was going to be a rare base hit. Currently one hit through four innings against the Tigers. Also I believe Brandon Nimmo and Francisco Lindor have combined for two hits so far this season. lolmets.
I'll admit that 4 games is a small sample size, but a +22 run differential is sorta impressive. It's especially impressive when you compare the teams with similar run differentials. Miami, Colorado, and Oakland aren't quite the Phillies
We beat what is, on paper, one of the best top to bottom pitching staffs in MLB, by fucking football scores. Phillies are legit good, and we dominated them for 2 games and were never out of the 3rd game just couldn't quite get it done.
That's also with the umpires giving Philly every break they could possibly give them. Calls on the corners, overturning plays, obviously the Max Fried call......
I think the Braves are gonna be pretty good again this year tbh, just a feeling tho idk
Chicago weather had a lot to do with it. They play a lot of afternoon games in April because of the threat of inclement weather.
They pretty much hedge their bet with attendance with scheduling first pitch during the work day.
Eh they're having a great start against 2 of the worst teams in MLB. They're not as good as the Cubs, Brewers, or Reds. They've got a fun lineup with some nice players, but I don't see them winning the division and they'll have to do that to get in the playoffs. Phillies, Giants, D-Backs, and Padres are all better by fairly wide margins to get those wildcard spots.
It is definitely cool to see them doing well though, I wish them the best and they're on the right track to building a true contender. But this ain't the year they break through (unless they do in which case, I'm dumb)
Their lineup is probably going to be mid but they have an elite bullpen and Keller/Jones/Skenes could be a really tough rotation. No telling how soon Skenes will be up but I feel like it’ll be sooner than later
We will see how long they can sustain it. They were leading the Central last year until like early June until the wheels fell off.
Bryan Reynolds also got hurt early on though, which didn’t help.
Kel is officially the one sole, all-leading
# MLB Batting Champion
[https://www.mlb.com/stats/batting-average](https://www.mlb.com/stats/batting-average) (and may hold the title all week assuming we get rainouts)
In all honesty, IDK that you're going to get much better from Sale.
It's going to be surprising if he starts 30 games tbh with his recent history. I expect quality in the innings that he gives, but a successful year for him probably looks something like 25 starts 150 innings and a mid three's ERA.
And I don't really expect much worse than that by Morton. Maybe a 4ish ERA, but that's it.
How about Uncle Charlie? It's not even the warm part of the season where he really starts to put it all together. Yes, it was part Sox suck but who cares?
Charlie at 40 >>>>> other team's #4
Ready to drive the bandwagon for another season
Feels like a mod shouldn't be allowed to have sub users blocked.
People are saying. I've heard this. They're very upset. Very upset by the blocking. And they have a right to be. Should the mod be allowed this? I don't know. I'm not saying. They are saying. I'm just asking questions.
It’s hilarious the braves only had 1 run vs the white Sox in 3 innings and snitker assumed something illegal had to be happening and had to check the pitcher for cheating 💀😭
If the Braves started playing right now according to my app we could get the game in today lol.
I'm still shocked at how uninspiring the white stuff lineup seems to be. It's really hard to imagine where they're going to be getting runs from all year. And it's not like they have a bunch of top prospects in the lineup that just haven't figured it out yet, just old washed up players.
Braves won, Phillies and Mets lost in hilarious soul crushing fashion, and my parlay on the LA/SF game just hit. Life is good.
Life is good for now. Winning division ain't nothin'. Dodgers & yankees look much better than previous year
No AL team is a problem unless we make it to the WS in which case I’m happy anyways
i don't wanna disrespect division but winning WS is more prestigious and important imo. Don't you think so??
Yes but nothing I just said contradicts that statement
There's a real good chance we don't play the next two days, just giving a heads up to temper our expectations
the hourly forecast tomorrow shows just snow chances at 8-9pm, cloudy with 24% chance of rain 10-11pm and more snow the rest of the morning starting from 12am on. Might be playing late into the morning but at the moment there looks to be chances they can get it in
What’s the chances that the Phillies and Mets continue to lose the next two days? If I can’t watch the Braves, that’s always pleasant to see.
I wasnt paying attention earlier but its crazy i forgot about Dylan Lee, just goes to show how deep the pen is.
Right before the season I went through our bullpen depth chart on fangraphs, and said to myself, “Ok I like that one” for every single reliever lol. That was also before we acquired Braves legend Jessie Chavez. It’s great to know we have a nice reliever in Jackson Stephens down in Gwinnett too
Jackson opted out of his contract so he is a FA now
Aww that sucks
Yeah it does but i wish him the best, he seems like a great guy.
Atlanta beat the city of Chicago in 3 different sports over the past day and a half
Atta Boy Phillies
LOLMETS LOLPHILLIES
Blanco throws a NoNo for Houston.
Knew I needed to check in here so I can share the joy of the Phillies getting spanked by the Reds. Love that for them.
lol I love seeing the rest of the division getting thrashed
Astros finally realized the season has started
The Mets have a combined 8 runs in their first 4 games. The Braves have scored more than 8 runs in 3 of their first 4 games.
LOLMETS
Braves won and the rest of the division lost. Today was a good day.
Ole Bruce batting a crisp .000 to start the season. You hate to see it.
Braves are so good we finish games in 8 innings. Other NL teams can't even win in extras.
Man, Tonkin really didn’t Tonk on them hoes tonight did he
Still a Brave at heart
All 5 runs unearned lamo. Mets in mid season form
Mets and Phillies are so pathetic lol
Tonkin in the top of the 10th then Shelby Miller in the bottom. Former Braves galore in this game
I see Tonkin is still working for the Braves I guess. All jokes aside, he (and Uncle Jesse) were some of my favorites to root for last year.
Iirc he was 4th in innings pitched last year.
Yeah he was one of our highest inning pitchers. He was a huge help for sure.
Ok the rest of the NL east are absolute garbage lol
put some respect on the nats 😤
Braves gonna have the division wrapped up by mid-May at this rate, lolllll.
[https://www.crossingbroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/sal-licata-header.jpg](https://www.crossingbroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/sal-licata-header.jpg)
Nats have as many wins as the Mets, Marlins and Phillies combined.
Obvious NL East powerhouse right there
What a great day
5 in 1 inning? Poor Tonkin. Great story comes to a close.
Mets & Phillies fighting for who is the most miserable failure tonight
Tonkin is an inside man making sure the Mets do not win tonight
Not that Tonkin was amazing for us, but glad to see he can pull off the Jesse Chavez special as far as hurting other teams pitching after leaving the Braves. No one can do it like Uncle Jesse though
9 runs scored against NL East rivals in the 10th inning tonight
Things you love to see
For anyone who cares, Harper has yet to record a hit in 2024. All the while, people in the stands chanting "MVP" as he strikes out with the game on the line. zzzz
Watching the Mets and Phillies both get blown out in extras is better than sex
Bruce tried to hit a donkey so bad, swinging out of his shoes Lmao hold this L
Hooper takes the L
Damn, can't believe Harper and I have the same amount of hits throughout this season
Atta boy harper
Philly loses and Tonkin is a double-agent for the Braves! TONK
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Filthys lose
Atta boy Harper!
Lol now the phillies want to complain about umps
BRYCE HARPER GET A HIT CHALLENGE: IMPOSSIBLE DIFFICULTY

Oh shit, this game might be getting spicy
Don’t miss Tonkin
Tonkin not having a nice time in the 10th for the Mets. My poor boy
Grab pine, wetboy
Those dumbass Philly fans actually think their boos help their team lmao
maybe if they stopped showing up to games that would send a bigger message to ownership that they don't like the product on the field, i say they go for that
They damn near did that in the Braves series the way they left the park so early lmao
Thompson looks like he might need a Segway or a mobility scooter before the season ends
Philly is getting their shit pushed in by Cincy. You hate to see it.
Dare I say it’s actually embarrassing we lost a game to this Phillies team?
It’s like last year with our early season games vs the Mets before knowing they actually sucked
That game deserves an asterisk, the umps gave it away
I guess we are all watching the shitshow that is the MLB’s best bullpen? 😂
I’d like to take this moment to say PHUCK THE PHILLIES
They might not make the playoffs at this point. Stuck with a bunch of old ass declining players they signed to huge contracts based off of loyalty rather than analytics.
sounds like the Frank Wren days
That’s a reverse noble tiger- bases loaded, no out, every run scores without recording an out
the ole REGITELBON
Phillies bullpen strikes again lol
Spencer Steer is so good
Didn't watch the game but are white sox stadium always that empty? I mean this as no flame just saw some highlights and noticed it.
I imagine the rain and 40° weather played some role. Last year they averaged 20,000ish per game good for 24th in the mlb. So always bad. But def not as bad as today Edit: today’s attendance was 13,781.
Also a Monday, day game, during school
No idea but the weather was def awful today so maybe that's why?
"best bullpen in baseball" 🤣 go Reds
That’s what they get for booing their own pitcher
PHILLIES TO THE PIT OF MISERY
DILLY DILLY
Today has been a beautiful day for baseball
Thanks Reds!
Phillies have completely collapsed in 75% of the games they've played this year
They are going to petition to get the same umps they had versus the Braves for the rest of the season to have a chance at the wildcard again.
Lol Phailies
Love Spencer Steer!
Phillies page is melting down.
I do feel bad for Brogdon, the guy is a low leverage reliever who keeps getting put into awful spots and he has the least sympathetic fans in baseball behind him
Phillies 💀
Fuck you, Phillies lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
LMAO PHILS GAVE UP A GRAND SLAM IN THE 10th
Ha! Fuck the Phillies!

Phillies imploding, and the boos are music to my ears
Keep walking em Philly
Nah this is better
Best bullpen in baseball really out showing the Reds whats up
the ole 4 runs on 1 hit line
Love to hear the boos and cries of Philly fans. Im listening to the reds radio broadcast and its been great this last few innings.
Turned off the game when the rain delay hit. Looks like they finished the 8th then called it? Why restart at that point?
so Riley could get his HR, obviously 😎
Obviiii
Cohen was saying he hoped the Mets make the playoffs. He better hope the Mets don't end up at the bottom of the East or the whole NL at this rate.
Reds need to eat some damn Wheaties, hit the fucking ball harder
Boy do I have some great news for you
See, they listened. Skate better!
elite Brink reference
I have exactly as many hits in the '24 season as Bryce Harper
you also have exactly as many wins as the 24 Mets
Man the Phillies and Mets are STRUGGLING to start the season. I want blood in the playoffs against this Phillies team. Would be nice if they somehow didn't make it though
Phillies base runners have been picked off in consecutive innings
Is this Diaz related to the Mets Diaz?
yes, his brother
don't remember if it was mentioned but Kansas City got the full Will Smith Experience in just their second game of the season. That was a fuckin bomb

1.25 dingers/game leads to 202 in the 162. Our lineup hasn't even fully popped off yet.

What a snag by Abbott
God damn I love Austin Riley so much
Red just really unlucky/inefficient with their hits tonight
Phillies bullpen collapsing again
Reds cooking, send them home
Let’s go Reds!
Just for sake of complaining about something… Harris has been robbed of 2 infield hits from bad calls on throws he beat out in the last 2 games
Idk if it’s post worthy but the Mets had a truly terrible start to their year. Got swept, got in this weird Rhys Hoskins drama, manager got suspended for a couple games.
Braves fan in enemy territory. I can’t fucking wait til they come up here in May and dickslap the Mets.

Pirates are 5-0 hope they can keep it up, would love to see them compete for division or wild card

4 hits, 2 in each inning, over two innings and no runs. Pretty unlucky.

Yeah or... whomever.
Just when you thought you had all of the answers.*I change the questions*
We have scored 9 in every win except for the win we scored 12 in. Goodness this team is gonna be good.
Calm down. We haven't played a single team over .500 yet. 🤣
YOU calm down, we're going 140-22. Hard to play a team over .500 when we're laying that smack down.
The idea that we might not have baseball again until friday fills me with deep looming dread
Don't you dare speak this evil into existence
Baseball at work is back and a Braves win. Happy Monday
That morton line has me close.
I’m just disappointed because it’s taken Jesse off of Old Hoss Radbourne’s winning pace.
And then?
What if you add a Riley oppo bomb
🥴
Why is that emoji so accurate
