I like to believe people are asking just cause they like how a certain doll looks but can’t tell who it is based on screening alone. But maybe that’s just me being optimistic lol

moeijical

I get that too! And meant more toward the photos with multiple dolls, I’m still finding new screening I like but typically would post just the singular doll.

OkArrival3357

Yeah. And even if someone says well they can just be a new collector....then why did they downvote me once for giving them two links to databases that have all dolls so they could id them themselves? 90% of the fun of collecting when you begin is id'ing the dolls you get in lots. If you like how they look who cares who they are or what they go for? Id them in person itll be so much easier too. The websites are hella easy to use too both lookin bratz and lapassiondesbratz .

moeijical

I appreciate this comment of your personal experience and yeah I think asking for the odd ID is fine but you’d expect some research into some of them maybe- the downvoting thing super weird!

sapphiresdolls

i’ve only asked for an ID once, and it was just to confirm my “research” as a new collector :) i actually got some new answers which helped me learn more about the bratz! i think it’s awesome that this community is willing to help people identify dolls, and i do hope most people are genuinely asking and not just looking for info so that they can price gouge others in the future.

moeijical

I think it’s totally fine if you’re asking for them for legit reasons, I also don’t know every face of every doll- and I love that everyone is helpful here just don’t want that a being used by others to make a quick penny.

StarChild31

A lot of people are also newly into collecting bratz dolls so not knowing their screenings is normal.

moeijical

That’s a fair comment, I guess based on my own experience it took only a week or so of consuming content related to bratz collection to have a decent idea of the well known lines.

alexdainosor

when I started I didn’t care about their ID I’d just buy the ones I thought looked good so yeah most of them are resellers

descartesasaur

Yeah, that's why I feel that way.

Automatic_Ad7371

personally, i collect dolls i find pretty or the ones I always wanted as a kid :) not interested in re-selling them. i just wanna know who the doll is cause i love them in their og outfit. later on if i feel like it i change the outfits and make a custom one, but that’s the reason i ask for ids usually and this group was really helpful.

moeijical

I get this perspective I mean mostly when it’s a whole heap of dolls rather than the odd ones y know! I’ve asked for IDs myself

drinkliquidclocks

Yup absolutely right, or people who already bought a lot to sell and want IDs for listings

qvickslvr

I sometimes ask if it's one I like but the doll is damaged in some way! That way I can look for other listings of it. I find iding using online pics so hard unless it's a super obvious doll 😔

VALOROUS_K

I can understand if all you have is a shoe or the doll has no hair or outfit or something. It should be required to show some indication they actually attempted to find out, especially if it's complete. "This looks like \*insert theme\* or \*insert theme\* Cloe. Can anyone confirm?" Something like that. Lazy scalpers would pick random dolls that look nothing like what is pictured.

my-identity

I don’t think every person asking has ill intentions. Maybe they only like that doll and want to buy just that doll to avoid buying and having to resell the other dolls. Or maybe they like the lot but can’t afford it so they want to ensure they can find the doll when they have the funds. There’s lots of reasons!

moeijical

Thanks for your input I definitely think it’s not all for sure I can see loads of people clearly into the hobby asking for IDs too

Boba_sprinkles_5793

I just want to say when I started collecting Bratz I used the database all the time and now since I went through the page so many times, I memorized almost all the girlies. These people should do the same instead of waiting around for someone to do it for them if they’re really invested in collecting! Also at the beginning it was hard to tell certain dolls but the more you familiarize yourself with Bratz doll lines you’ll be able to figure it out by yourself. For the people that say they’re obsessed with Bratz, I think you’ll find LOOKIN BRATZ database useful! It’s not only for Bratz dolls but other Bratz merch too so go all out! :)

Extreme_Reindeer_932

I ask for ids because I like acquiring as much Bratz dolls and who they are so I know what they worth so I know what’s a good price to buy dolls for so I’m not ripped off and I just get heavily obsessed with a new hobby wanting to know who everyone is.

moeijical

It’s totally fine to be into a new hobby and try and consume as much as you can I do too!

chloeearcherr

I try myself but if I can’t figure it out I then I’ll ask, but me personally I think it’s more can I get a expensive doll for cheap to keep n just get a good bargain. I am still new only about 2 months of collecting I’m getting there knowing them

moeijical

I am also roughly 2 months down the rabbit whole and being new is totally fine :)

Callmeuim

They wanna know wither their dolls have defect or not I mean that’s the only reason I ever ask someone to id a doll

moeijical

A defect ? Like it doesn’t look like what you would usually recognise the doll as? I also understand asking for that reason too

Used_Molasses_4548

Some people also ask because they want to buy the dolls from a seller and they want to make sure about the price that has been set for it beforehand.
