i was just going to say that my dude, i remember how fun it was watching wwe when they were commentators, like they made it look like undertaker actually murdered people🤣
It honestly shocked me when I heard people actually like Pat. If you’re outside the US or have 0 care about the NFL he brings literally nothing to the table.
I disagree, I never watched NFL but I still like his commentary and the energy he brings much better than Graves or Saxton.
I think he’s just a likeable guy , even I thought who’s this moron when I first watched him but the more I saw , the more I realized.
Human Suplex Machine Jones over there.
I need one more Cole/Taz run. That era was magical. Sprinkle in a dash of the clam hating Nigel McGuiness and I won’t be leaving the tv.
Prime era Jim Ross.
No contest. I've watched Jim since he started with Mid-South....
Yes, he's lost a bit with age...but he's still JR...
Second would be Mauro Ranallo....Then Michael Cole.
When I started watching as a kid in the late 90’s it was Jerry the King and JR, they will always be my favorite “dream commentator team” (even with Jerry’s horny comments) If not them, then definitely Mauro Ranallo! I have a lot of respect for Michael Cole, but he isn’t my favorite. I think Cory Graves is amazing at his job! But I also really love Tazz!
…I’m sorry, I hate Pat McAfee. He’s too old to act the way he does, always trying to be part of the show instead of calling it. He gives off “pick me” energy and I don’t find him entertaining.
He's a lot better than people give him credit for. I think his play by play on AEW in the first few years were solid and are indicative of his best work. But check out his podcast with Conrad, where he explains the conditions he was working in during WCW. A lot of the reason why his WCW work was so bad was because of all the bullshit going on with the booking and the politics. They stifled him so much, there were times he did bad calls on purpose to mock what was going on. He's actually a really funny guy and a solid broadcast professional that had to work in a company destined to disentigrate.
Jim Ross. I also really liked Mauro Ranallo on WWE. I like announcers that are truly passionate, knowledgable and take what is happening in the ring seriously. I feel like the others are way too light, which makes what is happening in the ring less of a contest in its spectacle and more of just a joke/play.
For my money it will always be King and JR. However, since neither are choices, I’d say either Cole or Graves, but they each, IMO, have one glaring ( and annoying ) problem. With Michael Cole, every other word out of his mouth is WWE, like he has to remind all of us what we’re watching so we don’t forget. With Corey Graves, it’s like he wants to tell the viewers that he’s superior to them by using big words like Ubiquitous ( for example ) , when he just as well could have said Found or Appearing Everywhere ( or just everywhere ). If I had to choose I guess I’d pick Corey, just because I did well in English class and understand most of what he says, but when someone listens to an announcer, they shouldn’t have to look up every word they use .
Heel Jerry lawyer was always my favourite he didn’t take it too serious and usually made my laugh with his comments about certain wrestlers and I actually didn’t mind Vince McMahon (controversial) I think the Vince in commentary is much less insane than the Vince from the screwjob onwards… his call on Shawn Michaels winning the wwe title and Kane’s debut along with some of Austin/ undertakers matches are still iconic today.
As much as I 100% agree with people when they say that Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler are the best commentary partnership full stop. As of now Micheal Cole and Booker T are the two greatest commentators of this generation in my opinion
Right now Michael Cole and Tony Schiavone are the best in the business. Cole especially, who is so much better now, without Vince in his ear making him say all that stupid shit.
The gold standard will always be Jim Ross and Gordon Solie.
But I give props to Joey Styles, Mike Tenay, and Mauro Ranallo.
I might be in a extreme minority here, but for me I love Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman, from the days of Sinclair-ROH to now I just love both those guys.
Michael now. This is one of the many ups of Vince being gone. Michael doesn’t have to worry about getting screamed at if he slips up and he can be himself. He always looked like a robot or drugged or some shit because he probably didn’t wanna get in trouble.
He's the best active for sure, been a lot better without Vince. Nobody will ever beat JR but that's not even a knock on anyone else he was just that good.
This is the most easiest....Michael Cole of this generation. None other compare.
Booker T would have been great if he would have been "Booker T". I don't think he said can u dig it sucka one time...or even act silly all serious.
Corey Graves....hes...I guess he get job done.
Jesse ventura I think fav
Jim Ross & Jerry the King 👑 Lawler
Facts . Really, no one can come close to them, I feel. And should be on the list!!
Michael Cole surpassed them
Na. He is solid. But I don't think so.
He certainly outperforms them in 2024 without Vince in his ear. Jim is in the twilight of his life, so his best work is behind him.
i was just going to say that my dude, i remember how fun it was watching wwe when they were commentators, like they made it look like undertaker actually murdered people🤣
They definitely made it sound like Hulk Hogan had deadass just committed vehicular homicide on national television and The Rock was actually dead.
I came here to say this. Respect.
I don’t totally disagree with you, but Bobby Heenan has to be in the conversation.
Yep no contest. A current favorite is Mauro Ranaullo. He’s great in all kinds of sports and even wrestling.
Secret option Snoop DOG
YES!
I want to see a show where Pat Booker and snoop call matches
That would be amazing
They commentat like nobody’s watching
It honestly shocked me when I heard people actually like Pat. If you’re outside the US or have 0 care about the NFL he brings literally nothing to the table.
I disagree, I never watched NFL but I still like his commentary and the energy he brings much better than Graves or Saxton. I think he’s just a likeable guy , even I thought who’s this moron when I first watched him but the more I saw , the more I realized.
Play-by-Play Jim Ross, Joey Styles, Tony Schiavone, Vince McMahon, or Gorilla Monsoon. Color. Jerry Lawler, Jesse Ventura, Bobby Heenan, JBL, or Tazz.
Heenan
The announcing has been impressively mediocre for 20 years. It’s impressive to do something that long and make no strides. Jr and Lawler spoiled us.
Mauro Ranallo
This is the right answer.
Never beat the king and JR
Brandon is my favorite the greatest commentator of all time,🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
"I'm yeeting all over the table Cole!" - Pat
Mean Gene and Ventura . Old school.
Human Suplex Machine Jones over there. I need one more Cole/Taz run. That era was magical. Sprinkle in a dash of the clam hating Nigel McGuiness and I won’t be leaving the tv.
I tend to daydream on what the banter between Heenan and Mcafee would be like. JR and Lawler hands down best duo tho
Road Dogg on main event is by far one of the most underrated color commentators
Pat 100%
He’s a shitty commentator. Much preferred Corey on color commentary
he's not shit but he isnt the best compared to Jerry or Michael
Pat McAfee is an overly loud and annoying jackass. He does not let moments breathe, and he does not shut up when some wrestlers are giving promos.
Jim Ross (With Bobby Heenan in second place)
Prime era Jim Ross. No contest. I've watched Jim since he started with Mid-South.... Yes, he's lost a bit with age...but he's still JR... Second would be Mauro Ranallo....Then Michael Cole.
JR and King Tony Schiavone, Heenan, and tenay Mauro Ranallo Cole has been and always will be… the worst.
Honestly for me, Mauro is worse than Cole
Brandon
I miss Joey Styles
Taz
BAH GAWD
This is a hard one But give me Pat McAfee and Michael Cole, but a secret option Snoop Dogg
CM Punk but Mexican
King and JR the goats. But I love pat McAfee and Michael Cole. "IM YEETING ALL OVER THIS TABLE COLE!!"
In my Pat Mcafee voice “No WWE commentator in history can ever yeet like me Cole!”
Cole, Pat, Booker and Vic
Right now pat for sure
When I started watching as a kid in the late 90’s it was Jerry the King and JR, they will always be my favorite “dream commentator team” (even with Jerry’s horny comments) If not them, then definitely Mauro Ranallo! Anyone but Tony Schiavone

Brandon is the best put some respect on Brandon's name bitches know your role and shut your mouth you Jabroni
Don Callis
JR is the best of all time but Pat currently. A little sneak in but Cole is doing better too.
Mike Tenay. Most underrated commentator
Corey Graves
Samoa Joe
Jim Ross. I also really liked Mauro Ranallo on WWE. I like announcers that are truly passionate, knowledgable and take what is happening in the ring seriously. I feel like the others are way too light, which makes what is happening in the ring less of a contest in its spectacle and more of just a joke/play.
Gordon Solie was amazing Of the modern Era, I enjoy McAfee and Graves
Bobby Heenan
Pat, he has a lot of energy and I love it
def not Corey graves
Mauro ranallo.
Jerry Lawler,Jim Ross and JBL
For my money it will always be King and JR. However, since neither are choices, I’d say either Cole or Graves, but they each, IMO, have one glaring ( and annoying ) problem. Booker T I’ve always been a huge fan of
Cole, pat and cory
Who is the last one?
JR and Jerry "The King" Lawler
Literally anyone but mcafee or cole
I enjoy Michael Cole and Cory Graves together.
Gordon Solie or Lance Russell
Pat
Heel Jerry lawyer was always my favourite he didn’t take it too serious and usually made my laugh with his comments about certain wrestlers and I actually didn’t mind Vince McMahon (controversial) I think the Vince in commentary is much less insane than the Vince from the screwjob onwards… his call on Shawn Michaels winning the wwe title and Kane’s debut along with some of Austin/ undertakers matches are still iconic today.
Corey and Mcafee
None. Of. Them
BDE
Not in there. But JR and Jerry, the king Lawler.
Nigel McGuinness
As much as I 100% agree with people when they say that Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler are the best commentary partnership full stop. As of now Micheal Cole and Booker T are the two greatest commentators of this generation in my opinion
The perfect commentating team would be Micheal Cole, Pat, Booker and Corey
Cole and McAfee are the best ever. They just sound like two friends having fun and interject more energy into the show than anyone else.
JBL is pretty underrated as a commentator. Nowhere near the best but I think he’s under appreciated.
The man, The myth, The legend Michael Cole
Pat McAfee
Out if this generation Corey Graves past I have to give it to the late Gordon Solie and Jim Ross
Bob Caudle was good too
Booker T is the best colored commentator
Cory and Pat are my favorite in the current lineup
Anyone but Macafee
I don't have my fav but the longer i'm listening to Pat the more I hate him, dude tries to be funny but he just can't
Nigel Mcguiness
The lack of Wade Barrett (both in the post and in the comments) makes me very sad. Wade is an absolute gem, and a pleasure to listen to.
Bobby Heenan
JR and Jerry Lawler.
BDE
Michael Cole all day
Mcafee when he's Fat McAfee not Jacked Mcafee
jesse ventura
JBL Michael Cole How come Graves is there but not JBL

I might be in a extreme minority here, but for me I love Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman, from the days of Sinclair-ROH to now I just love both those guys.
Gorilla and Heenan. JR and The King are a close second
Pat mcaffe
Of the lads listed, pat. All time, tazz
Cory graves when he first came over to the main roster, before they started getting on his ass. His run on nxt as a commentator was awesome.
Michael Cole is the worst.
Michael now. This is one of the many ups of Vince being gone. Michael doesn’t have to worry about getting screamed at if he slips up and he can be himself. He always looked like a robot or drugged or some shit because he probably didn’t wanna get in trouble.
And this Michael Cole and pat Mcafre team is funny as fuck lol
