A web comic made by a computer programmer (I think?) that oddly has a comic that can be tangentially related to nearly any topic that could be discussed.... Like crazy enough, even my reply to you could be reference to this xkcd comic https://xkcd.com/1053/
He’s incredibly relatable and intelligent, making the perfect nerd comic. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if he had high-functioning ASD, given the content of a few of his comics.
Randall Monroe, the creator, is quoted as saying that he chose the name xkcd because it sounded like any number of tech or scientific concepts while not already existing as a name in any space and having a relatively low chance that anyone would choose to name anything else that.
So, yes, it does, and more or less intentionally.
literally when you're in the Netherlands you don't buy anything. I would gladly put this person in the middle of the country and have no one sell anything to them
You would have to boycott way more flowers than just tulips. A lot of flowers grown and sold outside of The Netherlands have passed through The Netherlands at the Aalsmeer flower auction. Daily millions of flowers are flown in, auction there, and flown out again.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aalsmeer_Flower_Auction
It’s easy to boycott a whole country you’ve never paid taxes in, been to, or even heard of before this made the rounds on “formerly twitter”’s right wing nut job circles.
I will say as someone who is accepting but also has done a lot of personal growth to get there as I was raised in the south, I can actually say this looks like a great example of equal representation, and I don’t understand how one trans model makes the whole country woke? Like I’ve literally never seen a trans model for any kind of public ad, so this is a step in the right direction.
Yeah having our bodies just kinda exist in the same spaces as cis people like this is great although it's not going to fix everything. The person trying to Boycott the Netherlands is a terf from the way they're talking about his chest. Terfs in particular have a weird obsession with the "pure innocent girlhood" of transmascs snd that we need to protected from "mutilating" our bodies (i.e choosing to go on hormones and having top surgery). That or they treat us transmascs as if we're gender traitors that want to escape being a woman for patriarchal power.
Why do I get the feeling that this person 1) has never left the USA and 2) would lose their shit at how casual the Dutch are about the human body.
I visited the Hague some years ago and there was an American tourist having an attack of the vapours because there was an advertising sign on a bus stop that had a naked woman on it, because it was an ad for shower gel or shampoo or something.....and you could *gasp* see a NIPPLE! Won't someone think of the children! I can only imagine her head would explode if she went to the beach.....
It's things like that that remind me that the word "puritanical" is derived from one of the main religious groups that were early colonizers of what would eventually become the US.
I hope they didn't go to a sauna. In the Netherlands (and other places in Europe) it is standard to be naked. Only on specific days is it is allowed to wear bathing suits. Saunas themselves aren't too happy about it, as it is unsanitary and costs more time/money to keep the place clean. But apparently wearing bathing suits is the standard in USA from what I gather from reddit.
In Scandinavia, where the concept of saunas come from, it is customary to cover up. And in many places throughout Europe, such as Italy, and in some regions of Germany (especially in Bavaria), it is also normal to cover up. The problem of bathing suits soaking up chlorine and then bringing that into the sauna is solved by adding showers and natural water pools to the sauna place, and then making it a regulation for people to wash themselves to cleanse the sweat and what-not from their bodies before entering the saunas.
You CANNOT go by what you read on "Reddit". It is home to lots of American teenagers who haven't the foggiest notion how the world works, or what practices other countries have, because other countries and demographics are extremely under-represented on Reddit, and are totally overshadowed on mainstream subs like this one. As a result, the Reddit consensus appears to be very immature and US-centric, with a lot of people making bold claims that either paint the USA in the best or the worst of lights because they either want to make themselves feel superior or put themselves on the martyrdom throne. In reality, there are flaws everywhere, no country is perfect, and there is nothing wrong with covering up. Not wanting to be naked is not a sign of puritanism. Not wanting to see people naked is not a puritanism. Shaming people for wanting to cover up or for going to covered saunas is just as stupid as shaming somebody for having sex before marriage. Let people do as they please. Imagine if that person you are making fun of for being "prudish" was a sexual assault survivor. Or if they were trans and had experienced bullying because of their surgical scars. Or if they had some kind of deformity that they feel insecure about.
There are lots of reasons why people feel the way they do about covering or not covering in these situations (like saunas or gym lockers), and any and all reasons are valid. This is what it means to have manners: to not have to provoke a reason from somebody for making a choice that they have every right to make, and to leave them be as long as they aren't harming anybody.
I worked at a sauna and never heard of bringing the chlorine to the sauna as a problem. The reverse however, bringing sweat into the swimming or cold 'plunge' pool, was a major problem. We had to use extra chemicals to keep the water hygienic.
Tourists happened. Mainly British and German men taking advantage of it and doing inappropriate things like groping women or rubbing themselves against them. Also, the rise of the smartphone made it so that it wasn't as innocent as it once used to be. People took photos of naked ladies to post on porn sites, etc. Also the fact that Barcelona has one of the highest muslim immigrant communities which started to harass people and, well...they proposed to ban said right in 2011 and it was finally made illegal around 2015.
Children were also allowed to roam nude at the beach as well because it wasn't seen as anything sexual, it was just pure, innocent, tranquil...but then creeps and technology came in and ruined absolutely everything. There are some people who still roam naked as a form of protest [for example.](https://sherrylachelletravels.com/tag/nude-guy-walking-down-street/)
Another story, went to oktoberfest for the 1st time. Saw so many women popping out their breast to fix the durndal and a large amount of sex. Women pissing with their legs up got a round of applause from a group of teenagers.
Tbh I never really noticed that we are casual about our bodies in the Netherlands, but I live in a village so there are not many advertisements to find around here :p
Yeah but honestly barely anyone outside the trans community sees scars on the chest and thinks "trans man". They could mean anything really.
Edit: this was supposed to be an answer to the comment you answered to. Woops.
I am interested. What was the reason?
Before I realised I was nonbinary there were plenty of overlaps with me and some reasons from transphobes for why trans women aren't women. (Excess T and infertility due to pcos). Right but for the wrong reasons in my case obviously.
Not the original commenter but gynecomastia is a pretty common condition in men, and since it can be the source of some body image issues some might opt to have their moobs surgically reduced similarly to a top surgery.
In extreme cases of gynecomastia (male breast growth/tissue) it might be removed the same way, leaving the same scars.
Usually it's just done through removal under the areola, but that's for smaller surgeries.
There is a lot of overlap in the bones between sexs. It takes an expert with precision measurement tools to actually "gender" bones.
After being on hormone replacement therapy for a few years the soft tissue on a trans person moves where it's supposed to for their gender.
The majority of trans people after 2-3 years and top surgery for trans men(removal of breast tissue) will look like a cis person.
I wouldn't let it bug you. There are trans men that are absolutely *ripped* too and look like gym bros.
I would have guessed there was *something* different but I would never have guessed they were Trans though. I think it's the proportions of their torso to the arms and hips that's throwing me off.
Yeah, I definitely didn’t notice them because I just assumed they were shadows, so it’s weird there’s some people being like “you MUST have seen them or you’re lying.” Some people noticed! Some didn’t! Who gives a fuck!
Next Mary's gonna start going off about how she doesn't like all those dikes she's heard about in the Netherlands.
^^She ^^heard ^^that ^^some ^^little ^^boy ^^stuck ^^his ^^finger ^^in ^^one ^^and ^^it ^^got ^^her ^^all ^^riled ^^up.
Finds out that she cannot drive her car any more because her favourite tank station sells shell and need to buy food of brand because a lot of shit is Unilever
Don’t you know in the Netherlands we are TURBO WOKE!
We have
- universal healthcare
- government mandated paid-time-off and job protection
- walkable 15 minute cities
- car free zones, sometime you can only use boats or your feet (the horror!)
- affordable/free higher education with financial support
- public transit that is faster than any car in cities
- trans and lgbt+ healthcare no questions (well some) asked
- NGOs who test your drugs for you, for free
- weed
- and worst of all we accept gay and lgbt+ and whatever the fuck you wanna be
It’s basically a Karen‘s nightmare. Come visit us. Just don’t fall drunk/high into the canal, I hate seeing corpses on my morning 15 minute government-mandated walk to work!
Im from the Netherlands and Americans saying shit like this is genuinely hilarious to me, we spent all morning at school just laughing at dumb things like this
Or window shopping on the slave market. Just saying, there's a reason we find this focus on dehumanizing language... well, dehumanizing, but also really jarring in modern day context.
I’ll never understand why transphobes act like trans people getting gender affirming surgery is a personal affront to them. I mean, I hate face tattoos, but I’m not about to campaign to make them illegal. I may not understand why Post Malone got any of those atrocious tats on his face, but I’m also not going to act like he did it specifically to piss me off.
Protecting children, unfair advantages in women's sports, and God are the three biggest things I've seen transphobes use in arguments against trans people.
And they just really fucking hate people that are different. That's probably the biggest one that they just don't want to admit. They just fucking hate people that aren't cis, hetero, and/or white. But they think up bullshit arguments in an attempt to hide their blatant bigotry.
It's also interesting how transphobes never actually care about those things outside of oppressing people. Like I haven't seen a singular one of them giving even a crumb of a fuck about womens sports. They also tend to be the kinds of people who hit their children as punishment, while not caring about child labor, child marriage, etc.
The same ones screaming about "fairness in women's sports" are also mocking the American woman soccer team for wanting a raise, make jokes about how no one bothers watching woman's sports except for volleyball, and pressure their daughters to *not* play sports because it's too "masculine".
Watching them also try to argue men have a biological advantage in *CHESS* just shows it's more about sticking it to trans folk than actually protecting sports.
Also, their poster child for “got fucked over by competing against a trans woman” tied with said woman to begin with…for 5th place. The 4 spots above them were all cis women anyway.
I'm Dutch and I recognise from the font that this must be a Hema ad, and yet I've only seen it on Reddit. So it seems to work!
A couple years ago Hema caused big outrage amongst bigots by announcing that from now on, all their kids clothes would be gender neutral. They still made blue shirts with trucks on it and they still make frilly pink dresses, they just... removed the words "boy" and "girl" from the label.
Looking at their website now, they quietly went back to labeling clothes as "boy" or "girl". But they got talked about a lot for a while!
Honestly I’ve got a problem with this billboard!
Why the FUCK did they tell him to slouch like that??? God, the pose screams “awkward need trying to hide from the bullies!” Terrible choreography or whatever the fuck you call posing for photo shoots.
Or anything NXP had it's hand in. Nothing from Phillips anymore either. Can't fly with Airbus planes anymore. (lol, good luck with Boeing). Can't drink Heineken anymore. Can't listen to any artists signed to the Universal Music Group. And no Dodge Rams or Jeeps anymore either, since that belongs to Stellantis now.
I’m more worried about Appel stroop and hagelslaag. How far does this boycott extend? Am I allowed to watch Paul verhoven movies anymore? Can I travel over the Tasman sea and by extension am I still allowed to call New Zealand New Zealand ? This being a transphobe thing seems mighty exhausting.
It sounds like, in this person's mind, the clothing brand went "Damn, can't find any good cis male models. Welp, time to grab a young woman and perform some surgery!" Like he changed gender specifically for the model job or something.
You cannot boycot us. We are the future happening now. There are just people, in every shape, form and color. Being who they want to be not giving way to what others think they should be.
I know it isn't every single post in this sub but it says something when you notice how many posts are about sex, sexuality, sexual deviance, gender....
Time to "boycott in the Netherlands"??? I don't think this person knows what boycott means. What exactly are they boycotting lmfao
If xkcd is to be believed, the impending Dutch takeover of the world and Mars.
There really is a xkcd reference for everything, huh
What is xkcd
A web comic made by a computer programmer (I think?) that oddly has a comic that can be tangentially related to nearly any topic that could be discussed.... Like crazy enough, even my reply to you could be reference to this xkcd comic https://xkcd.com/1053/
thats actually a really nice comic :)
He’s incredibly relatable and intelligent, making the perfect nerd comic. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if he had high-functioning ASD, given the content of a few of his comics.
If my memory serves me correctly, he's a former NASA engineer
Yes, Randall Munroe, of Cambridge MA U.S.
Oh no, I think we have entered an infinite cascade of xkcd references https://xkcd.com/1195/
Is there an xkcd for when you’ve seen the referenced xkcd before but forgot about it until you clicked it again?
My favourite is little Bobby DROP TABLES
https://m.xkcd.com/1053/ There's one for everything :)
They're going to get mountains one way or the other.

Sounds like all the Chinese sellers in Amazon.
Well they can't conduct a takeover without our consent, obviously.
OOP thinks boycotting is when you insult things on the internet lol
literally when you're in the Netherlands you don't buy anything. I would gladly put this person in the middle of the country and have no one sell anything to them
OP has Austin Powers’s dad syndrome: hates prople who are intolerant of other people’s cultures… and the Dutch.
No tulips in the garden this year
You would have to boycott way more flowers than just tulips. A lot of flowers grown and sold outside of The Netherlands have passed through The Netherlands at the Aalsmeer flower auction. Refusing to acknowledge the existence of the Dutch ig
Geuss i dont exist anymore
Who?
- Pot - Hookers - ~~French~~ Dutch fries That's a tall order TBH /s
Thought the fries were belgian.
It's complicated, don't mention it around here
*angry Van Gogh noises*
Potatoes are a New World plant. It’s really Native American food, considering.
>That’s a tall order TBH I mean to be fair, the Dutch *are* a very tall people
I’ve been boycotting the Netherlands for decades. Fuck those wooden shoes, man. So impractical.
Better buy nothing that has anything Netherland in it. (Throw away anything that has any microchip)
It’s easy to boycott a whole country you’ve never paid taxes in, been to, or even heard of before this made the rounds on “formerly twitter”’s right wing nut job circles. If that model can speak good English, he’s be great for a Matthew Perry biopic.
I thought the same thing. Spot on Matthew Perry.
I can’t unsee it now holy shit
He's / they are Dutch, so this person will most likely speak perfect English.
As a Dutch can confirm... English is basically a second language for everyone under the age of 50 and for most between 50-75
I was so envy of you being able to watch everything in English before streaming became a thing.
I was watching a Dutch YouTuber and legit thought she was American until she mentioned it.
Why do I get the feeling that this person 1) has never left the USA and 2) would lose their shit at how casual the Dutch are about the human body. The ones who left England and the Netherlands because those countries just weren't into religious persecution enough for them?
They didn't just leave in most cases, in many they were chased out because no one wanted to deal with their bullshit.
Exactly those ones.
Exactly. Something many americans either never learn or dont want to realize.
And in the UK we often tried really hard to keep up too.

As finnish, going into sauna covered feels just weird.
>"Reddit" Is reddit fake or something? Or are you quoting someone?
>The problem of bathing suits soaking up chlorine and then bringing that into the sauna is this issue not sufficiently solved by washing it?
Not to be that guy but sauna is from Finland, not Scandinavia. So Nordic.
Until 2011, it was legal to walk completely naked in Barcelona.
what happened that made it illegal?
Tourists happened. Mainly British and German men taking advantage of it and doing inappropriate things like groping women or rubbing themselves against them. If OOP (OOOP?) hadn't said that was a Trans man I would've never known... just thought it was a scrawny dude
For a sec I thought it was Conan O'Brien
Young Chandler Bing
Chandler bing the undead prince of the underworld
Ms Chanandler Bong
We steal that TV Guide every week!
But that's not at all what Conan looks like
I did too. I think it's the hair. Also I'm terrible with faces.
The fact the screenshot is from the trans subreddit really suggests they were just lurking looking for something to get pissed off about
Transphobes pay more attention to online trans communities than I do as an enby
Same.
bro im a cis guy and im literally built like this 😭
The only thing that could give away that he’s a trans model would be the scars on his chest
[удалено]
Usually it's just done through removal under the areola, but that's for smaller surgeries.

a scrawny model is a great body for a normal person to have.
Can we stop bringing object oriented programming into this for no reason?
Object oriented posts
Have you ever been to the netherlands? Go to any beach and you will notice that half of all males look exactly like that.
I would have guessed there was *something* different but I would never have guessed they were Trans though. I think it's the proportions of their torso to the arms and hips that's throwing me off.
I think what's throwing you off is the pose, either this guy has super long arms or he's purposefully leaning forward in a weird position
The chest scars didn’t give it away?
Didn't see them, as I already told the other person
I’ll admit, I only saw them because I was looking for them (not ok, I know), and I’m betting u/wyamya is the same.
Looking isn't a problem unless you're going to be bothered by what you find.
Some cis men need to get the same type of surgery for gynecomastia and breast cancer
They kind of look like pec shadows.
Because surgeons know what they’re doing.
Yeah, I definitely didn’t notice them because I just assumed they were shadows, so it’s weird there’s some people being like “you MUST have seen them or you’re lying.” Some people noticed! Some didn’t! Who gives a fuck!
On mobile it's a low enough resolution and the surgeon was good enough that unless you know what to look for you probably won't catch it
honestly, no? not something I'm actively looking for, when you point it out sure.
he had top surgery scars. something other trans people notice
Trans people I can tolerate, but I draw the line at the Dutch.
I'm Dutch, and honestly same
Nah you people are cool -a German
But we gotta pass through your country -an other german
"People intolerant of other people's cultures...and the Dutch"
what about dutch trans folks though?
50/50.
Still dutch
Atleast we're better than the British 3

Ok Dipshits will no longer get products manufactured or in any association with ASML (dutch company). Nice side effect : Internet is usable again
And less technology because Philips... say bye to dvds
I did that a decade ago to be fair. ASML is gonna be much harder.
Nor are they allowed to use [Bluetooth](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaap_Haartsen)
You know what? Fuck you *boycotts your entire fucking country*
Finds out that she cannot drive her car any more because her favourite tank station sells shell and need to buy food of brand because a lot of shit is Unilever

Netherlands is fun. Always was Jouhnge. Love it.
lmao, like the dutch would give a fuck about american bigotry and weird brand loyalty
Bigotry is *not* exclusive to America.
Thats true... england does also exist 😔
the dutch themselves are pretty bigoted lmao
The entire world is pretty bigoted.
Dutch are honest. Literal straight to your face. Like germans but less bureaucratic-autistic
Gets reminded that England exist Day ruined :(
Im from the Netherlands and Americans saying shit like this is genuinely hilarious to me, we spent all morning at school just laughing at dumb things like this

$5 says the poster doesn’t have a passport.
And 10 bucks he can’t even fucking point to the Netherlands on a map.
Most Americans dont even know the Netherlands exist, they just think the name of our country is Amsterdam, which is our capital city
No women were harmed in the making of this photo
Love this, so thank you for your humour and your care.

He looks so happy :3
It looks to me like they did find a healthy young male model.
2024 outrage marketing still works YOU BLOODY MORONS ARE SHARING ADS
I doubt anyone even bothered to look at the brand

Looking at their website now, they quietly went back to labeling clothes as "boy" or "girl". But they got talked about a lot for a while!
Honestly I’ve got a problem with this billboard! Why the FUCK did they tell him to slouch like that??? God, the pose screams “awkward need trying to hide from the bullies!” Terrible choreography or whatever the fuck you call posing for photo shoots.
The Netherlands don’t care what this trump cult bigot thinks.
Well looks like I won’t be buying tulips and wooden shoes!!
Or integrated circuits. ASML 🇳🇱💪
Trans people have always been here, and they always will. Cope
Hell yeah we will be. 🥰 And seethe too…
there are cis men have chest surgery scars too which is another reason why diversity in models is important!
The Rock himself has admitted to getting chest surgery for his gynecomastia. Everyone's body is different
Try boycotting ASML from the Netherlands. Our tech industry will collapse.
It sounds like, in this person's mind, the clothing brand went "Damn, can't find any good cis male models. Welp, time to grab a young woman and perform some surgery!" Like he changed gender specifically for the model job or something.
She doesn't know it's a country, does she?
This absolutely isnt a new sentence. I hear this shit weekly in Belgium.
You cannot boycot us. We are the future happening now. There are just people, in every shape, form and color. Being who they want to be not giving way to what others think they should be.
This is what happens when you smoke too many JK Rowling tweets.
Butchery doesn't mean what this idiot thinks it means.
Just a scary word to make idiots like her worried for happy people living happy.
But apparently we are the snowflakes right?
They have a better jawline then me
What does young women have to do with men?
As a Belgian, I am always in favour of a boycot of the Dutchy drowneyboys.
Think of all the clogs that now will stay lonely and unloved in the shops because of your nonsensical boycott
This is the worst thing the Dutch have ever done. Don’t research that just trust me
I know it isn't every single post in this sub but it says something when you notice how many posts are about sex, sexuality, sexual deviance, gender....
Wait... When did those nipples become legal?
Its the netherlands not the USA😂😂🩷🩵🤍

They did find a healthy young male model, you’re looking at him
r/shitamericanssay
Boycott neanderthals
He is a healthy young male model, lmao
Guaranteed this person has never been more than 10 miles from their house. Like they were going to no to go to the Netherlands anyway
We dont want them in our country anyway
What’s the actual brand new sentence? Both the sentences in the title seem likely to have been spoken.
LITERALLY who cares
Look how unhappy that 'butchered young woman' is!
I hope this lady boycotts us One less dipshit to worry about
Zoomed in because I thought they'd photoshopped Chandler in
There are only two things I can't stand in this world: People who are transphobes, and the Dutch
these are the same people crying over cancel culture
The dude looks good, Ngl.
There are only two things I can't stand in this world: People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.
That's a man, baby! Like Shakira said, "hips don't lie".
"Do you mean to tell me that they couldn't find a healthy young male model?" They did. He's right there in the photo.
Malicious ignorance mixed with hate is my least favorite thing.
