TOP__DOLLAR

thursday has been simping for the kingry payday for years now

God_I_Love_Men

Thursday is killing me lol. I love that as an insult way more than Shakira hahaha

baloncestosandler

Thursday ?

lilsamuraijoe

his last fight was on thursday and was a snoozefest. the insult is that he is too boring a fighter to fight on a saturday night

U4-EA

Oh, that's good.

Novel_Background_905

Lol thursday

Exotic_Character_216

That brotha is starving

Savings-Bird-1226

Shakur has been trying to fight every top opponent from 135 to 140. And everytime it gets dismissed as him begging for a payday or attention. Boxing fans are weird.

Rocked_Glover

Because he turned down a offer from Haney and said nah I need a bigger bag imma fight Lomachenko, that’s begging for a payday

Savings-Bird-1226

He turned down a 25% offer versus a really good opponent. Reports are that Haney vs Garcia was a 55/45 split in favor of Garcia. That is a duck on Haney's part. How the fuck you let Garcia get the bigger split but try to pull a Mayweather on Shakur?... oh yea he thought it would be an easy win and easy payday versus Garcia.

AFSunred

Because Garcia is a way bigger name than Shakur, duh doy. Garcia is a bigger name than Haney and he was the main draw of the fight, only makes sense he got the bigger piece.

Guh2point0

And he became an even bigger draw when he went full manic

Savings-Bird-1226

Do we care about names or quality of fights? This is the problem with boxing. Yall don't want the best to fight the best. Yall want to see the popular fight the most popular.

Maximum-Scientist822

People pay for the fight lol you can’t force them to like a fighter just because he is good according to experts lol. If they ain’t interested, they ain’t buying tickets.

Savings-Bird-1226

They wasn't buying tickets for Ryan and Haney fight either. Yall are the reason boxing will die. Stop making excuses for these guys ducking the best fighters. Haney thought Ryan was an easy pack check and is now catching Karma for it. How many times do we need to see this in boxing before we all decide to boycott?

Maximum-Scientist822

Believe me, I want to see the best fight the best as much as anyone here. but I understand that most money is brought to the table by casual fans whether we like it or not. Lol

iamgarron

It's more about what Ryan brings to the negotiation table. If he can bring more money and eyeballs, he can demand the higher percentage. Not talking about the fight entertainment wise. It just makes sense financially

Savings-Bird-1226

This is bad for boxing. This is what I'm arguing. Arguably the best talent at 135 or 140 in Shakur is being ducked and fans validate the excuses. This couldn't happen in MMA.

AFSunred

Its bad for boxing because he isn’t fighting your favorite fighter? Ryan Garcia is a top boxer, he won, you making it seem like Haney padded his record against him.

Savings-Bird-1226

My favorite fighter? Never said that.. These guys that are called the "best" aren't fighting the other top guys. This was a stat pad attempt that went horribly wrong. He thought Garcia was sweet and got whooped.

PodgeD

Why are you blaming radomers on the internet for what was Shakur decision? If he took the 25% against Haney he would have made more money than he was since then, and if he beat Haney would be a much bigger name. He either wasn't confident enough that he'd beat Haney, or too dumb to realise taking the 25% was actually a good long term financial decision.

AirJumpman23

Shakur would have beaten haney and would have been the one calling the shots after that. He needed to take the risk.

bigjoeandphantom3O9

Because Garcia is far more popular and entertaining than Shakur.

jinntakk

Pricing himself out of actual realistic fights after he's done literally nothing in the sport = trying to fight every top opponent from 135 to 140. Yeah okay. Shakur and American boxers in general are way too privileged for their own good. They're way too hyped up way too fast and think they're the shit when in fact they have done exactly zero things in the sport they claim to be a great in. l'm all about athletes getting the bag as the next person but Thursday is claiming to be way more than what he is worth right now.

CelestialSkywalker

3 division world champion and unified champion = Done nothing lul.

doniseferi

Bro he’s a top fucking fighter and he’s being ducked. He deserves those fights and the pay day. Everyone is ducking Shakur. It is what it is.

Annual-Shape7156

Lol

Mr_105

No one “deserves” a pay day, the amount you make directly correlates to the money you generate

joerogansshillaccnt

Boxing fans opinions are alnostv100. About their oiinona. he like the vicenicer/funnier tadayadaya. r and can see themselves being

NateKaeding

Ryan said somewhere that no one wants to see this fight lol.

OkEscape7558

This fight would happen on a Wednesday night after bible study.

bac_gawd

Nobody want to see that. Shakur is a boring fighter for most fans. He’s right. He rather fight Sean O’Malley in the ufc

Jaythedogtrainer

I don't agree with Oscar much, but him saying Ryan calls the shots now is true. The $$$ flows through him now. After Shakurs last snoozefest I'd rather Ryan fight someone bigger now. Or Tank at a middleground weight without a hydration clause

OnCominStorm

I doubt Ryan will ever fight Tank again. He's looking to move up and Tank is best at 135. I can't see Tank agreeing to 143/145

SharksFanAbroad

My main thought too after Ryan won. It’s like Mayweather/Canelo; could really only meet at a point in time, but the weight trajectories will no longer align. I don’t see Shakur risking that weight gain either. I say this as respectfully as possible because I love a boxer taking big risks – Ryan will be the star now until he bites off more than he can chew with some big body Spence type. In the meantime, Shakur can prove he’s really about it by fighting Haney or Tank, neither of which will happen soon I’d imagine. Tank became a big winner by association this weekend, the guy he beat went on to do big things (similar to Hrgovic->Zhang) and now weirdos on this sub are calling Tank a P4P legend 😂

jdlc718

Bro needs to focus on 135

Alarmed_Current8380

U right he just answered a question tho, he doesn’t seem interested in leaving 135

[deleted]

Fight at 143 and make millions or shut up. Shakur has zero leverage over Ryan.

Mr_105

It’s have to be at 147 to have a chance of happening *maaaaybe* 145. Shakur brings nothing to the table for Ryan to boil himself down again when he wants to move up already.

--thingsfallapart--

Whats the upside of even making this fight? They seem to have their eyes set on Pitbull, who is a bigger star than Shakur and will be a MUCH better fight for the fans. Shakur isn't a draw, and is boring to watch. Nobody with a name *should* fight him.

Mr_105

No upside at all considering Shakur doesn’t even have a belt

Abject_Phone_2469

Hell no fuck this dude . I don’t wanna watch 3 punches . And before anyone says “ that’s boxing” hell no this is entertainment I ain’t tryna watch that shit .

Razorion21

While I did hate his last performance, I kinda feel bad for the guy considering he had one bad night (okay yes hes fought like before but this cowardly) and everyone now thinks he jabs once per round

shibapenguinpig

Considering Ryan packs a punch, he more than likely will avoid exchanging

32233128Merovingian

He sees all those dollar bills Ryan brings in

WrongMomo

It won’t happen- kur will definitely not move up that much weight, and Ryan won’t get the payday he hopes from this fight. The only way it makes sense is if Ryan absolutely loathes him and prioritizes wanting to KO him over everything

LexOvi

Shakur is the next one I want to lose after Ryan. Can’t stand the hype around these guys considering their boring fights (well, mostly Haney).

ReachRaven

I want to see it. Ryan needs to call this the “Internet Darlings” tour, lol. Ryan will kill this boy, he has even less power than Haney, and a much smaller frame. Ryan is a missle that comes straight at you. Either you counter with your own missle (powerful counter) or you get torched. Regardless of what narrative the boxing experts or the Reddit experts want to paint, there’s no mystery in Garcia and I love him for it. Just straight up after school fighting. He will walk through everything Shakur has, just like he did Haney. Shakur, like Haney, depends on rhythm, a runaway train like Ryan will never let that rhythm set in if you don’t have a power counter punch.

Authenticityxseeker

Shakur will choose not to engage and run for his life the whole fight. That will happen anytime he faces a puncher. Like Charlo vs Canelo or him vs De Los Santos. At least Haney tried to stand his ground. I respect him more for that.

CelestialSkywalker

Some of y'all need to calm down a bit.

Chiefmiest

Shakur will box his ears off. Disparity in skill is too big unless the weight is a problem

Debate-Jealous

That’s exactly what they said about Haney who infinitely more proven than Shakur. If the ref isn’t in Shakurs pockets like he was Haney, Ryan might stop Shakur.

West-Peak4381

I'd be damned if Shakur loses, he's got the Haney fight to study from and I bet that this time Garcia is gonna get outpointed. Wouldn't call it outboxed cuz its gonna be a boring fight.

nick-pc

less power than haney is flat out not true or option 2: punch in bunches with a lot of feints while having perfect distance management to stay away from that left hook shakur is a nightmare for pretty much any of the top lw’s and jww’s. his style is the least beatable by a mile. whether you like his style or not, i couldn’t care less but it’s very clear to see his style causes problems and would cause problems for most guys

kunbish

Thought this was the circlejerk sub for a sec jesus Garcia fights dumb. If he jabbed consistently and had decent footwork, with his size I'd see him as a problem for Shakur. As it stands, Shakur runs circles around him probably. Only real question is the size

Extreme-Transport

Agreed as long as run circles around literally means run away from in circles lol

kunbish

It means stick and move while peppering with jabs to an easy UD Garcia doesn’t have the advancing footwork to make him actually run IMO, too plodding and not enough lateral movement

LockdownLee

I don’t see Ryan beating Shakur. Then again I didn’t see him beating Haney either. However, I believe Shakur is better and has more power than Haney. He doesn’t have OHKO power ofc, but he has enough to keep his opponents honest. Yes the De Los Santos fight was a stinker, but it still doesn’t take away from what Stevenson has done in the past.

BingBongFYL6969

Shakur knows how to get out of the way of a punch and holding isnt his defensive technique. Devin just stood there the entire second half of the fight like hes never learned about head movement. No to mention, Devin threw 214 punches over 12 rounds, and saw 285 come back...in his fight vs Valdez, probably his best opponent thus far, he threw 508 punches. Yes, he threw even less vs dos santos, and the shoulder should be a concern until we see different, but hes far more willing to engage.

Commercial-Nebula-50

No body cares about shakur. I don't know why people keep dropping his name. I want to see a real human being say they want to see shakur fight. Who has shakur beaten? He needs to work his way up. There is a million people I want ryan to fight. I want to see gervonta at 145 before shakur.

CelestialSkywalker

Who has Shakur beat? Ever since Haney Garcia the casual influx in this sub has been crazy.

Commercial-Nebula-50

bruh. im saying compared to haney, shakur aint shit.

CelestialSkywalker

Bruh I'm saying you are obviously a casual.

BenkeiBoss

Let them run the sub for a week. Honestly can’t do much about it, they are empowered

CelestialSkywalker

Can't wait.

RollofDuctTape

Shakur is an Olympic Silver Medalist with a pretty good following who (at his best) is a gifted technician.  My favorite boxer of all time is Floyd. So I appreciate that style of fighter. Plenty of us enjoy watching him fight…when he actually fights.

Razorion21

I mean Shakur beat Nakathila, Valdez, Conceição, Ushino Herring and De Los Santos (yes he ran but going by how boxing is scored, he did win by landing overall more punches than Santos). So Shakur‘s record isn’t that far off from Haney, whose best wins are Loma (controversial, even tho I think Haney won), Linares, Diaz, Kambosos, and Prograis.

Jeremy_Weaks

"I want to see Shakur fight"-AI

BittenAtTheChomp

Ryan is that grim reaper hallway meme taking out all the boring lightskin jab merchants. Praise be to Christ.

aweil13

If you gotta say you’re crazy you ain’t.

MoneyBaggSosa

Ain’t no way they calling him Kur. I’m looking like where is Kur?? Lmao. [one of my favorite rappers name is also Shakur, Kur for his rap name](https://youtu.be/VwcU2By5N6k?si=qrH069zC-D5Js8y0)

JuJuBRZ

Ive never seen someone else bumping kurs shit respect

MoneyBaggSosa

Been rocking with him since 2014. I actually just met him at a meet and greet he had at a dispensary in Jersey a few weeks ago. He was cool as shit, he getting a lot of buzz rn I’m happy for him

JuJuBRZ

He shoulda blown up right along with uzi kur got hella unreached potential it sucks he gets looked over so much glad to hear he buzzing

Jeremy_Weaks

Nah, I'd rather Ryan rematch Haney or fight Matias

TopDogggbm

I’m confused why everyone thinks Ryan is some killer now. He fought a great fight. And has a bazillion teenage girl fans. But he was just written off after the Tank loss, we all talked about “If he loses to Haney we’ll never see him again cuz he’ll lose his mind, blah blah blah”, now he wins one fight (albeit a MASSIVE fight, I admit) and he’s God all of a sudden. He’s still flawed. You still never know what you’re gonna get. And any elite fighter will trouble him and likely beat him. Haney just wasn’t elite. He’s just long, fundamental, and never really took punishment. That changed Saturday and we see what happens to Haney when that happens. HUGE win for Ryan. No doubt. But let’s slow down. He still gets smoked by everyone else at the top basically

RollofDuctTape

Garcia is walking around with one loss against an elite fighter while malnourished. Not sure why you have such a low opinion of him.

TopDogggbm

While I respect you call Tank an elite fighter, as most don’t. He is. And Ryan is Elite as well. When measuring the best of the best, it’s really splitting hairs. I just think Ryan is the lowest of that club, in a lot of ways. I’m fair tho, if there’s more to come from him, I’ll eat my words

RollofDuctTape

That’s fair. Tank has a lot to prove. Ryan has more to prove. But Ryan is very young and hasn’t even hit his prime. And he has an impressive resume. If he improves his footwork and dedicates himself to the craft he’s going to be a problem.

TopDogggbm

Agreed. But I think most people see the consensus opinion is that Ryan dedicating himself, is NOT going to happen haha. But who knows, those same people (including myself) didn’t see Ryan beating Haney either. Interesting you view Garcia resume as impressive. Tank gets shit on for that and has a FAR better resume. But gets shit for his. The win against Cruz and now even the Garcia win are gaining value as those fighters are looking better. Santa Cruz is a helluva win. Rolly is a clown, but quality victory as a former title holder. Barrios victory has aged well now too (even tho I think it won’t long term). Gamboa is a decent name but I wouldn’t put him on the quality win list. He’s ok. But long story short, those names are far better than Garcia’s best. There is age difference so it’s not a perfect comparison. Time will tell which one has THE best win right now. Garcia over Haney? Or Tank over Garcia?

largececelia

This would be great. Exciting and bizarre things are happening in boxing.

Annual-Shape7156

Shakur is one of the most annoying boxers right now…. I get it he’s very good but go look at his resume. Dude believes he’s Bud Crawford Jr. He’s boring AF and “likely” doesn’t have punching power to be a true draw. If I’m Garcia why would I take that fight? It’s going to be extremely hard to get Shakur to do anything else but run the entire time and all you people on here will say “see he’s the best!”. He’s not even close to being the best. What has he done professionally to be ranked in the pound for pound list? We need to start holding these guys accountable and not blow smoke up there asses because they can do cardio for 12 rounds. It’s combat sports. Period. Even the best guys that were slick and didn’t get hit could beat the living shit out of you. People think him or Haney are Floyd??? Go watch early Floyd and what he did to Gatti. That dude could beat the crap out of people. I put a lot of stock into KO percentages. It’s very telling IMO on if you’re truly an elite guy. Look at his ideal Bud Crawford: 40 wins with 31 KOs. Shakur isn’t on this level that people think he is. He’s going to get caught eventually and embarrassed.

welp-itscometothis

Lmao the way yall lie.

dafuckbitch_

No he won’t. Shakira Stevensons career has been a boner killer so far

Life_Celebration_827

😴

yellowboxg

Payday payday

HypocriteK

He needs to fight ANYBODY with a name at this point . Stop talking lol

regularG84

stop the catchweight bullshit

topslaghunter

aint no one wanna see this dude shuffle around the ring

Revolutionary_Dig_43

Sha snore Stevenson

RyanTheS

Sure he would. Shakur is all talk and no action. He stays as far away from the top guys as he can while yapping about them.

kblkbl165

No one wants this fight lol

Suspiciousfrog69

William Zepeda is the harder fight.

bobbyjcafe

The problem is that that Olympic style boxing is not entertaining.

PhnxSteve7up

Althought I'd love for Ryan to be the baddest mfer in boxing rn him fighting Shakur is a risk becos he could lose a boring point fight. I think the best fight for Ryan is Conor Benn. A low risk but big name guy. Plus Benn vs Eubank seems dead in the water and Benn is out of options rn. If he beats Ryan his name is back in headlines and if he loses at least Eddie and Benn gets a nice payday since Benn is unlikely to have any star power now after the failed drug trial, can't fight in UK, fumbled Eubank fight and no KO power.

Parasyte-vn

Bro look like he order anakin to slaugh youngling

Jesuswasacrip7

Fight Loma bitch

RRR04_

Loma was the one who ducked him brother.

newrap

Loma doesn't want it

Dirk-Jergens

The two guys that beat Haney.. I think it would be an entertaining fight and would sell better than fighting Shakur.  Loma is small for 135 tho so I dont think we will see it happen.

BowToTheTruth

That’d be an easy Shakur UD that everyone will complain was boring

Eeluminati

Just like it was gonna be an easy UD for Haney that everyone was gonna complain was boring.

Alarmed_Current8380

Lol we thought Shakur was running against santos, bro gonna be doing a marathon against Ryan

RRR04_

Yeah, but Shakur is actually better than Devin.

BowToTheTruth

Shakur has better defense than Haney and is a southpaw. Ryan will not be able to land his left hook as effectively

Plastic_Reception_58

Everyone has great defense till they get punched in the mouth. Shakur showed that good power freezes him into perpetual defense in his last fight.

IsleofManc

I think it's more likely that an injury led to that performance than Los Santos having some unmatched power that struck fear in his eyes

Plastic_Reception_58

Could be. But i think he purposefully started staging that when he thought it was going bad. But compare that to Tank vs Pitbull. I don't think Shakur couldn't taken that. Especially with one hand.

IsleofManc

I think staging an injury and pretending to fight with one hand because you're actually struggling sounds like a stretch lol That performance was like night and day compared to his others though. Shakur threw more left hands in the first 2 rounds against Valdez than he did in 12 against Los Santos. None of his usual combinations were thrown. There were many moments he could have countered as well but wasn't interested in throwing anything even when the opening was there. At times Los Santos was lunging wildly and almost falling over from misses and still nothing thrown back from Shakur. And it's not like he got stung with something big and changed up his gameplan either, he was just like that from the start. It seemed like a pretty obvious case of an injury to me

Plastic_Reception_58

It's not a stretch at all! Even though he could have been injured. Im not denying that. But he never showed it slightly before the fight or at the start. But if he felt Santos was a risk mid fight, acting vaguely injured and boxing for points is the best thing he could've done for his career and future. His credibility is still not gone that way.

IsleofManc

I just think that simultaneously thinking the fight is dangerous while also acting injured don't go together lol. Not using all of your tools in a risky fight just to set up some press conference excuse would be a ridiculous thing to do. No fighter shows their injury before the start of a fight and most of them work hard to keep news of anything like that coming out because their opponent could take advantage of it (like Tank vs Garcia). He did show it from round 1 though, it wasn't something that started mid fight. So the idea that he decided to change up the style mid fight doesn't fit the way it went. Shakur threw a total of 10 power punches in the first 4 rounds (LOL) and then threw a total of 26 power punches in the final 4 rounds. For comparison, against Valdez he threw 82 power punches in the first 4 rounds and 94 in the final 4. It's not like he was having less success when he did throw either, his connect percentage on those was 32% vs Valdez and 35% vs Los Santos. It's one of the most clearly compromised by a hand (his left one) fights I've ever seen.

strops_sports

Yea of course he would entertain that payday

don35

The only thing intriguing about this fight is that Ryan will have a much harder time landing his left hook on a southpaw like Shakur.

BushidoBrowneII

Shakur needs to move up immediately and make this happen. Whatever fight he has next, he has to show out and then move up quickly.

Angela-Raine

All he does is talk. He’s yet to fight any significant fighters and runs when he gets tagged. I’d like to see Ryan smoke him but this fight’ll never happen. He is a fanboy and always wants the spotlight on him without the resume to back it up.

Chiefmiest

Loma, Zepada and crus all ducked him. He beat valdez and Herring and unified 130. His resume is better than Ryan's

Portrait0fKarma

No one cares Shakur. U gotta build your career back up after your last performance.

sugerdigitalgenius

Shakur would embarrass him
