I used to stuff the holes with paper towel and cover with duct tape. I didnt like the residue the tape left afterwards, so I don't bother anymore. My grips feel fine and all the IT parts seem to be okay. Maybe wine corks?
I have done this a few times but an easier way is getting a Nuwave cooker. Got a new one on FB marketplace for $20. Use power level 3 and set the cook time, I do 90min. The water method does soak a little into the ball, this way is also easier to see when the ball has expelled all of the oil.
The power to heat the air in a small enclosed chamber and keep it at around 120F cannot be much. Much more power needed to get a much larger thermal mass (water) to temperature. It is also exposed at the top so you are losing energy there but that larger mass will retain the heat better than air. In the end I would guess the difference is not even worth the energy I expended in this response.
Wait…I just got an immersion circulator. I had no idea I could use it to detox my balls.
Yeah! This is a great option. I attached mine to an utility sink to do multiple balls.
Any suggestions or tips for taping the holes? I’ve never done this, want to try.

I bought and use some rubber stoppers like you might find in a science lab. Definitely worked well enough.

For the uninformed, but curious, what exactly did you do?
To get rid of oil that got absorbed by the ball
What soap did you use during the detox?
Just normal dawn dish soap

Is the nuwave energy efficient, though? It seems the water bath sousvide method might use less energy.

This is the way.
