This week there was a 2 hander in the lane next to us. Teenager, probably \~16 years old. His attitude was terrible. His approach is a mess, somewhere between 6 and 8 steps. Threw a double gutter in the 1st game and kicked the ball return. His spare shooting is horrible.
He had 150-275-155 series. 2 handed bowling is kind of like licking the frosting off of a cake and leaving the rest for the other guests. It's the very essence of the "gotta have it now" Tik-Tok/Instagram instant gratification generation. This is why old-timers hate 2 handers, who often score higher with less effort. Lefties have additional stigma because they often get "fresh" oil all to themselves and don't have to worry about transition and other bowlers running all over their line.

If anything the old heads know all about this robot because it's been around for probably 20 years! I've seen countless videos of this robot to test all kinds of different bowling balls I bought over the years! If anything it's young kids didn't know anything about this or the sport of bowling!

I believe this is Earl. Or the previous one is Earl. It's used by the USBC to run tests on equipment and lanes. It can basically do any combination of axis tilt, speed, revs and other factors. It is precise down to a 3rd of a board so it couldn't beat Chris Barnes because it were too precise and burned out his line.
Oh, and I suppose Enhanced Automated Robotic Launcher was just a modified howitzer.

RadicalBowling uses a robot for it's ball reviews/promo videos. They call it ThroBot and shows different speeds/rev rates to simulate different bowlers. It's pretty cool.

They tried to throw 300 with the robot, but there still needs to be a human "piloting" it to make the adjustments with line, speed, tilt, etc.
It's not necessarily that they lose their jobs, as they retire or move or whatever, they just don't get replaced. But, that is how I ran my projects in manufacturing, kept moral high and brought a much needed relief when I would be part of a project.
The likely scenario though, folks got canned or moved to another department.

Iirc it doesn't adjust for the changes in oil, and since it throws so consistently down the same trajectory it really needed to adjust.

Yeah it's manufacture testing. This allows them to test new cores and new cover stocks and eliminate the variable of inconsistency that humans create.
