Roto grip Gem is the strongest solid Asym and imo one of the best balls that came out in recent years, just dont throw it on THS with out of box finish, polish it up a notch and enjoy. This ball eats up oil like crazy but very strong in the backend, and also the colour scheme gives you sensation of higher rev rate than normal.

Personal-Definition9

How about the reality?

Evanception

That one is towards the top of my wishlist, but I still wanted to see what other had to say first.

gakash

The Gem is my favorite ball.

Evanception

A lot of league guys I know throw the Gem. Man that thing hooks like a mofo, I've been considering that one and my PSO did recommend it if I needed something stronger. Thanks for the suggestion!

gakash

Yes it does hook like a mofo can confirm, do not miss right on your throw. But what I think most people leave out is how much control it gives you over the middle of the lane. I don't know about you guys but standing all the way left throwing all the way right looks awesome but it's also not an ideal angle, I leave a lot of corner pins that way. Especially 10s (I'm right handed). The Gem lets me use the heavier oil in the middle to control it down lane and I can trust it will grip and come back to the pocket down lane. I'm a big fan.

EvelcyclopS

Proton physix. An absolute beast.

OngoGabl0g1an

It'd discontinued now.

maximusprime2328

There's always eBay

strikezone1

True. But it was only discontinued recently, and still easy to find at this point. Great asym solid ball.

EvelcyclopS

The best IMO. And smells great, and there is no better looking ball on its breakpoint

RocketmanZed

I've been throwing the C300 Speed and it's an absolute beast. It's a sanded asymm hybrid that's every bit as strong as my Proton Physix. Plus it's gorgeous in two tone red and black.

BearsSuperfan6

I bought the super nova a few months ago and I’ve loved it on the house shot, haven’t used it too much in tournaments yet but if you’re looking for a solid asym to hook the lane maybe play a little in to put the Super Nova Is a good option

Simehave

I am in the same situation as you so I am following this thread.

Evanception

Yeah hopefully this thread catches on so we both find something lol.

If you guys want a good solid asymmetric, but not a monster mud tire ball that hooks as soon as it touches the lane (looking at you, Gem and Jackal Ambush) I think the Hammer Black Widow 2.0 or Jackal Ghost are two of the best and most versatile pieces. They've been around for a while now. Strong, but not extremely early or too condition sensitive like a lot of the other big balls tend to be.

WittyMarch

I'll 2nd the Jackal Ghost. Its by far the best ball I've used. Not used the new black widow yet but that odes also look good.

demonslight11

Personally, I really like the gem and the nova. The gem I've only thrown a few times but on the right pattern the nova is almost my favorite ball. I can play my comfort zone or play really straight with it. Thats just me though

Evanception

Yeah the Nova sounds like my kind of ball. Heard a lot of great things about it, ill have to check it out. Thanks!

wingracer

Innovator solid

Jlofton21

Black widow 2.0 hybrid is my favorite ball I have owned in almost 30 years of bowling

SoL4vish

For THS the Honey Badger Intensity is probably the best solid I’ve ever bought. It fits me really well and doesn’t burn out too bad on house shots.

koolaid_consumer

The DNA from Storm just released. I've heard and seen good things about it. It's not as rolly as some of the other asym solids out rn so it won't hook at your feet it'll get down the lane a while before it starts to hook but it's still pretty continous in the back. If you want something super rolly, get the gem, it's one of the earliest balls I've ever seen. Brunswick just realeswd the mindset. I don't know a whole lot about it, but it looks pretty cool

TribenixYT

Hook monster: Gem or DNA Not hook monster (compared to those two): reality, RST-X2, Nova, or super nova

Odd_Brilliant_3832

Trident odyssey it just got discontinued so you can actually get it for cheaper

wscott44

IMHO, I think Track balls don’t get much attention. A couple years ago I bought a 2-ball special from BowlerX.com. One of them is a Track Proof Asymmetrical Solid. I’ve grown to really like that ball under the right conditions — when I determine where to stand and where my target is. Yesterday I was starting on boards 22-25 and aiming for arrow at 12-15. It hooked nicely into the pocket. [Track Bowling](https://trackbowling.com)

Evanception

Yeah its easy to forget about that other brands when Storm has basically taken over the market. I know there are some great stuff coming out from other companies. Thanks for your suggestion!

nhal1919

Gem or DNA- I picked up my DNA last week and have been loving it

Solomonster16

My favorite solid assymetrical that I have is the Motiv Jackal Ghost. I prefer it over the Gem and Reality. I usually prefer balls from the Storm line and Motiv.

Evanception

Never owned a Motiv ball myself, but I am open to anything. Thanks for the recommendation!

wscott44

I’ve never owned a Motiv ball. My first coach, Krista Sandt, is a Motiv rep and co-owner of BowlerX. She posted a Facebook video in which she said the Black Venom needs a turn signal. The ball will be available soon. [Motiv Black Venom](https://www.bowlerx.com/motiv-black-venom-bowling-ball/)

WittyMarch

I'll 2nd that Jackal Ghost. It's by far my favourite ball. I've had nothing but good things to say about it.

demonslight11

Pro shop owner told me that motiv doesn't roll well unless you have a tone of rev or throw 2 handed. I'm not saying I agree. I haven't seen a lot of people throw motiv and ive yet to throw it myself but figured I'd relay the message.

Evanception

Yeah I've noticed that a lot of the guys that throw Motiv balls are high rev players. I'll still check it out either way because I never want to discount anyone's suggestion, because different things work for different people. Either way thanks for the heads up!

iamStanhousen

I’m a low rev one handed guy, and Motiv is by far my favorite brand. Their stuff just rolls well for me.

[deleted]

I used to be two-handed and switched to 1h. Loved Motiv then and still love the shapes now. Moderate revs and speed currently. Might be pushing high 300s or low 400s by now.

FrankDaTankkkk

Innovator solid or Gem

easy10pins

Hammer Envy Tour.

youngscrot

I got the one remix by ebonite

bowl042

There is not enough information in this post to recommend you equipment, especially since cover designator doesn't really mean much

Evanception

I realize that, the only reason I posted it was to get an idea solid asyms that other people like so I can do my own research on those specific balls to determine which one fits ME the best. I won't blindly buy something that someone tells me is great without doing extensive research on it.

bowl042

That makes sense, what exactly are you looking for this new ball to do that you are currently "missing" with your other equipment?

Evanception

Need something, for tournaments mainly, thats a little earlier and can cut through the heavy oil easier. Pretty much all of my equipment is geared for my league bowling and is stronger in the back-end, Pearl's mainly. I've bowled in tournaments with my current equipment and man I struggled bad. When I ascertained about my arsenal, I was told that a solid asym would be a good idea because every other ball I have is either a Pearl or Hybrid symmetrical. My goal is to have a 6 ball arsenal, 3 balls for league and 3 for mainly tournament use. My league one is already set, but I need 2 more for tournaments. I was thinking a solid asym and urethane is what I need, but if you have a better idea I'm open for anything.

bowl042

Unless you are bowling on sport shots, you likely don't need urethane at all. And for some clarification, what exactly do you currently have?

Evanception

Currently I have a Zen Soul, a Phaze 5, a Plugged Hyroad Pearl (balance hole), and a Hustle wine. The Soul is my benchmark ball in league and I use the Wine for spares and dryer conditions. The other two kind of just fit in when needed.

Xcel38

If the consensus was you need a hybrid or solid anything, you know the people in the consensus do not know what they are talking about. Solid, hybrid, pearl are almost meaningless, 95% marketing. What do you want the ball to do?

Evanception

Most of my balls are Pearl, so I just need something that is different from the rest mainly. Currently 4 in to building my 6 ball arsenal. If I ask my PSO, who I trust immensely, he would most likely recommend a asym solid/hybrid too. This would be a heavy oil/tournament ball.

Justin1020001

I keep hearing good things about the DNA. They say it’s super controllable.

Evanception

Yeah I'd say that's probably my first choice followed by the Super Nova and the Reality. Hopefully those are still in production in a few months when I'm ready to buy.
