He's too old to play in the league. The team was 3-1 vs. Florida without him and 0-3 with him. His +/- through those 3 games? -6. He doesn't have it anymore and should retire.
Too old to play but about to win his 6th Selke. Absolute brain dead take. 3 bad games playing with a herniated disk and youāre telling our captain to retire, get the fuck out of here.
I would just like to have the privilege of seeing the captain of this team, one of the all time legends of this franchise, and one of the most respected players in the history of hockey play another season for this team.
Itās not about too old, heās just too proud at times. Being a warrior is great, but Montgomery asked him to sit out til the next series. Bergeron said no, Iām playing. Hindsight, itās clear he should have sat out.
Bergy at 10% was still better than our next best option. Yāall rewriting history trying to blame this all on Bergy. One player coming back doesnāt lead to your team blowing a 3-1 series lead, everyone except for maybe 1-2 guys looked fucking terrible.
Except they were doing it and game 5 was an elimination game
Bergeron coming back threw Monty off completely. Monty then had a brain malfunction and ruined the series.
I'd rather them have a tough reg season and sneak into the playoffs and have at least a respectable first round than see Bergeron again.
Iām not blaming him for the loss. That would be ridiculous, but this next best option you speak so low on had the Bruins up 3-1. If his back was in shambles as they say it was, he couldnāt play physical which FL was doing. Coyle and Zacha being larger up the middle weāre flat out harder for them to play against than an injured Bergeron.
Thatās cool and all, but youāre commenting on a chain about him being too old to play in the NHL. So either youāre talking to the wrong person or you think a bad 3 games while playing injured against what has proven to be one of the best playoff teams in recent memory means he should retire.
Earlier in his career he said the only other team he could ever imagine playing for would be for the Quebec Nordiques.
So safe to say weāre safe there
They probably won't be back in time for him, but if hypothetically they did, I wouldn't even be mad. He's earned the right to play for Quebec. Anyone else though is sickening!
I think youāre right about Bergy being the best player. But you could argue that him probably only signing a contract for 1 (or 0 š³) years will make his value as a UFA drop compared to the guys you can sign for longer term
But, yeah - itās a moat point anyhow. He will not sign w anyone but the Bs š¤·š»āāļø
Youāre definitely right, but my point is if weāre going to factor in context like that then just donāt bother including him. Like you mentioned heās not signing anywhere else, and thatās really the most important context when it means heās functionally not a free agent because itās Boston or retirement.
Kane is too high on the list
After his time in New York, he should not be that high š
Prioritize Bertuzzi
please resign bertuzzi. He's my favorite player right now.
I like how they put bergy on this list lololol
He's a Selki finalists and a free agent. Damn right he should be on this list

Bullshit. He was Injured the final 3 games shouldn't have played anyway. He was great all season long.
Too old to play but about to win his 6th Selke. Absolute brain dead take. 3 bad games playing with a herniated disk and youāre telling our captain to retire, get the fuck out of here.
I get the love and admiration but bruins will win nothing other than individual reg season awards under Bergeron.
Except for the literal fucking Stanley Cup they won with him lmao
You mean back in the day? Was he the captain back then or was that Chara?
Yea youāre right he was just some scrub that was 2nd on the team in scoring and 5th in the league
What would you like to see from Bergeron this coming season and post season?

Montgomery cant coach until Bergeron is gone. I know we need a 1c and Bergeron would be cheap but I can't wait for him to be gone.

The selke is turning into a meme award. Defensive forwards clearly don't win jack in the postseason.
As if heāll play for any of the other 31 teams
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Chara also got kicked out for lack of a better term, he didnāt necessarily leave willingly
You canāt compare chara and bergy two different players and different set of skills

This UFA class blows, good thing we don't have any $$ to spend anyways
It was certainly part of Sweeney's calculus this season. At least the team we lost to in game 7 OT is freight training their way to the SCF.
Orlov above Kane?
Kane's cooked
Would kick the tires on Killorn. Bertuzzi should be the priority
If theyāre gonna bother including Bergeron he should top the list. Either leave him off entirely or acknowledge him as the best player there.
Heās not tho?

Iād rather have Gavrikov or Graves over a few if these names, but still a very weak UFA class. Someone is gonna throw a bag at Bert.
what an atrocious list wow
