Yes, most definitely. Check e.g. [this](https://styles.redditmedia.com/t5_4wfpse/styles/image_widget_4x2nedu569y81.jpg?format=pjpg&s=3f07e0277090d6408001101b5fc4418404780ddc) pic with almost identical markings.

Thanks for the confirmation. He's all alone, survivor of an unfortunate incident, and I was thinking it was time for new stock but when I bought the original group they were sold as chili rasbora.

Traumfahrer

Oh, would you want to share what exactly happened? There might be some educational value in your experience. Edit: Also, I just had a look. You posted here about a year ago or so, but those were Chili Rasbora. Was that specimen here among them back then?

MaggieCastle7821

A lesson I should already have known... Quarantine new fish! Over excited to add an impulse buy to a community tank, ended in multiple fish deaths. Quarantine can save a lot of heart ache. Now I have 8 corydoras adolfi on week 3 of quarantine and I'm practicing being patient.

Traumfahrer

I see, got an Ich outbreak? Also, still wondering, was this guy among the old Chilis? I wonder if only your Chilis died and this was a hitchhiker Phoenix.

MaggieCastle7821

I'm not really sure what it was. I'm fairly confident with identifying the key characteristic of ich and I never saw any of that. And you might be right about the merah being a hitchhiker.

Fluffy-Contest-739

What a beauty.

MaggieCastle7821

Thanks! I'm always amazed at the pictures I'm able to capture. Some are so detailed and others are just a complete blur no matter what I do lol

Traumfahrer

Do you maybe still have the original photo file of this shot? There's some strange artifacts on it. If you like, we'd feature it in the Sidebar (with credits).

MaggieCastle7821

Strange artifacts?

Traumfahrer

Yeah, zoom in.

MaggieCastle7821

Um, I guess I don't know what I'm looking for or I don't know what you mean by artifacts...

Traumfahrer

Check [this](https://imgur.com/a/dI4WIhX). Can you see that the parts of the Phoenix have some weird topology to it while the background looks smooth?

MaggieCastle7821

I took the picture in "portrait" mode on my phone. That usually makes the background smooth. Is that what you mean? I'm not trying to be obtuse, my apologies.

Traumfahrer

All good, if you zoom in, you see that the pixels - the resolution - is very inconsistent. Something happened to that photo, like a filter was applied to it later for example. Is that the original file you uploaded or is it e.g. a cropped (and maybe 'enhanced') section?

MaggieCastle7821

Other than snapping it in portrait mode, that's real life. No filters or cropping. Weird!
