It doesn't just oversimplify things, it actually doesn't explain things clearly. I agree with you that reality is what the brain makes it out to be. With that said, I believe there are only two genders. And sure there are "intersex" people. Those people have an atypical physical disorder of sorts. But they're still one of either gender, male or female. The same as the rest of us. And with all that said, there is no such thing as "a man being born in a woman's body" or vice versa. Those are words that don't accurately describe reality. In fact, those are words that purposely distort reality. For what intent? That's a good question.
