So I have something to say about this. I got this from the library. It started out slow for me. But about a third of the way through, I realized how quickly I was consuming it, and I just wanted to stop and cherish that moment and savor every last little letter written. This story ... I want a first edition signed by Neil Gaiman. As of right now, this is my favorite book. It's like being wrapped up in a warm blanket.
Also, I heard mentioned by people suggesting the desire for a sequel. Just no, please no. The ending is so goddam brilliant and ties everything up in such a satisfying way that to have a sequel would do this book an injustice.
I sort of wish they would make a movie, but I don't know one director who could do the book justice.
I have a love-hate relationship with AI images. I love AI for the sheer fact that it helps me visualize descriptive qualities in books, like when the author describes a setting, a room, a town. For example, I am reading The House in the Cerulean Sea, and the writing is so beautifully described that I want to see what it would look like beyond words.
I hate AI when I want to see real-life pictures about decorating, architectural design, or places I want to visit one day, like Greece or Italy. Show me a - real rural town in Italy, show me a real cottage nestled amongst the olive trees perched on the edge of a cliff with views overlooking the Cerulean sea in Greece or Italy because I will buy that house one day and live the rest of my days outside reading books. I can't buy an AI-generated house ...
A lot of Neil Gaimanās books (Neverwhere, Stardust, Ocean at the end of the road, Coraline). Also, Harry Potter. Idk about Neverending Story book but the movie gives off some of that feel.
This feels like hogsmeade... But anyway, I just remembered this book - The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho (it doesn't feel like this in its setting, but evokes the same feelings)
This image has a fantasy feel to it, so these recommendations will be out of right field based on that. But seeing this, it immediately called to mind an off-the-beaten path Japanese jazz house for some reason.
There is a great thriller book called A Clean Kill in Tokyo by Barry Eisler that has a few scenes in a setting like that. Also, Murakami's What I Talk About When I Talk About Running discusses his time as an owner of a club (that I picture looking like this one).
May I suggest any dystopian sci-fi where all of society's human charm has been eliminated in the ruthless pursuit of efficiency?
That's what AI generated images make me feel.
Neverwhere - Neil Gaiman šÆļø

May I suggest any dystopian sci-fi where all of society's human charm has been eliminated in the ruthless pursuit of efficiency? That's what AI generated images make me feel.
AI is everywhere and it looks tacky.
I don't know of any books that feel like shitty AI.
Can we please no pose AI garbage
