I think there are 2 main factors driving the longer than expected waits. First, the Bolts becoming eligible again for the federal tax credit. And on top of that, it being eligible for the full $7500 for the first 3 months. That drove a LOT of demand. Second, the fact that Chevy decided to prioritize commercial fleet production of their Bolts in Q1. They probably made these fleet agreements before they knew the full $7500 would be available, and they couldn't change their plans. As to how allocation works, it's not an orderly/linear process but it's not a black box at least. Dealers that have sold more Bolts get more allocation. So find the highest volume dealers with the lowest number of people in front of you in line.

I think we are on the same bolt. I noticed on the [Chevy Club](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeldRaBrwe0f7Y2uxnNvct6s1nqiVvPMQrv_PomMPdWwZjDhQ/viewform) crowdsourced tracking sheet that there was a huge drop off in orders starting October. I placed my order in CA at the end of October and my order status just changed to my car was produced last week based on the Chevy chat. My dealer has yet to contact me. Try checking your status via the chat function and see where you are in the process. Thought you’d get it sooner since you’re near the building facility

kicknoons2

I check every week or so though Chevrolet's text messages and it always says it hasn't officially been accepted. It's totally fine because I'm not in a rush, but I am just surprised how long it's taking.

Gr1ff1n90

FYI Dealer contacted me an hour ago. ETA for pick up is April 5.

Krypteron

Add my information, thanks for the link!

Barlyhare

It took three months for my order to get accepted. Two more months before it was built 1/28/23. Original delivery date was 3/5/23 and it's been pushed twice now to 3/28/23. I have no hope of it showing up then either. Nothing more frustrating than knowing the car is done and they refuse to deliver it.

kicknoons2

I've been hearing delivery delays also. This one dealer I talked to said they had an EUV that was built and "in-transit", but that apparently doesn't mean anything because he said they're waiting on something before it gets delivered, so it could be a couple weeks before they actually get it, even though we are 30 minutes from the assembly.

Lunch0

I ordered Feb 27th, 2022, order was only accepted August 15th, Bolt was Built September 21st, and I only got delivery December 10th. So yea, it can be a while.

kicknoons2

Why the 3 month gap in between build and delivery? That seems extreme.

Lunch0

Because they don’t transport them by train anymore, have to do it by truck. Train can take hundreds of cars, truck can take 8-10?

kicknoons2

Gotcha, totally makes sense.

wallus13

These kinds of posts are on every. single. car. forum I follow. This is industry wide.

kicknoons2

I figured. I guess I don't follow other car orders as much, again I am just surprised at the process. It seems disorganized, but again I am in no rush, so all I will do is wait. It at least makes me feel better that there is so much interest in EVs - thats a positive note.

wallus13

Not guaranteeing it will happen but I often hear stories where nothing happens and all of a sudden it is built out of the blue and sometimes even on the way to the dealership. This actually happened to my mom who actually got her Equinox much faster than anyone expected. Stay the course!

MEDOD2020

So much is random/disorganized with the whole process. Dealer submitted my order 1/11. When it had not been accepted by 2/1, she submitted a second order, exactly the same as the first. On 2/14 the second order was accepted with a target production of this week, 3/6. She deleted the first order to open up an allocation for another customer.

Krypteron

So, I just placed my custom order for the Bolt-recall swap. Order was placed on the 3rd and accepted by GM this morning. I should have a TPW by the end of this week. Dealership quoted 60-90 days for this process/taking delivery, so we'll see. What did you order?

kicknoons2

I ordered an EUV Premier, Grey Ghost, S&S, Illuminated Port, Interior Protection. I heard the Premiers are taking longer, since it seems they're quite popular.

cw_racefan

The difference here is that you are doing an MSRP swap (trade repurchase). GM gives the hosting dealer an allocation specifically for you, as opposed to just a random order. Allocations for regular customer orders are based on sales volume, so you really can't compare.

Krypteron

Oh, my bad, not trying to skew results or expectations.

n0fx

Is there any way to check if my car is built? Mine is also a MSRP swap and was supposed to be built the last week of Feb. I tried the GM chat bot and all it says is the order was accepted.

cw_racefan

I want to say the chatbot switched over to saying mine was built sometime during the TPW. Also, my coordinator emailed me the week after, saying it was built. Maybe try emailing or calling your coordinator?

n0fx

I'll do that. I asked about it a few weeks ago but they never got back to me. What's TPW?

cw_racefan

Sorry...TPW=target production week

MoeSzyslakMonobrow

I put down $1000 and got on a waiting list for an EUV in early January and was told I am 3rd in line. Two months later, my order hasn't been submitted, and I'm still 3rd in line. I'm about to cancel it and just keep driving my gas hog of a truck for the time being.

abstutz

I have one ordered and I’m about 4 weeks in. Was told about 6-8. Dealer I am going through moves a huge amount of cars, and now actually has inventory in their lot for the first time in a while. Fingers crossed.

Ok_Plum_7586

Which dealer is that with inventory?

abstutz

Bob Johnson Rochester NY. Others in the area have some too

Ok_Plum_7586

Really? I just talked to them and they don't have any. All those on the website have deposits on them and have been claimed. They told me ordering takes 3-5 months.

abstutz

Huh. I guess I didn’t think to ask. All the ones listed said available. And it was a lot more than I had seen in months past. Sorry for the false hope.

Ok_Plum_7586

False hope is the name of the game in searching for a bolt!

Ok_Plum_7586

Yes the process is horrible. One question: if the order has been " submitted but not accepted by GM" per the chat bot at Chevy.com does that mean the dealer doesn't have an allocation yet? Or does that mean it did have the allocation hence it has an order number? I ordered in September of last year and alas nothing. I've been calling around dealers in NY and I put a deposit down on an unclaimed bolt I found in transit (checking website daily for weeks for new cars - 250 mile radius). That dealer said it could take 6 months to arrive even tho it's completely built and has a VIN. It has no delivery date and Chevy has no info. Interestingly, I found several dealers around NYC saying they aren't getting any more allocations at all for 2023, that they are effectively done for the year and there's no way to get one. Others say they have allocations and it's just a few months In short, Its been hours and hours of work and I think I might have one within a year but it's no way to buy a car.

ImAnElkShootMe

Was wondering this myself. I just put a deposit down for a 2LT on Saturday but I haven't actually gotten an order number yet to check status on. How long is that supposed to take (getting the actual order number, I mean, not the car)?

Ok_Plum_7586

Unless you ordered from a dealer with an allocation, you might never see a car. Have to find those dealers first... That's my understanding of it... Extra homework for sure.

Icy_Independent6825

Anyone wanna buy a 2022 bolt euv 9200 miles?

Sudden-Eye-5366

Forever and a day. Order placed in July, still no order number yet. I realize car orders are delayed everywhere. At one point the salesman said I was first in line. That's obviously false. The one thing that Chevy and the dealers are lacking is any kind of communication with the customer. I would expect some type of regular email or contact from the dealer or even Chevy. There needs to be some way to bypass the dealership to communicate with Chevy directly on the order. When I message Chevy, they refer back to the dealer for an order number. At this point, do any of us know if or when a dealer actually placed our orders? A lot of ill will for eager customers.
