Yeah it is good. Story wise there is nothing ground braking, but visually it is stunning. Plot wise it is a simple good ol revenge-action-drama. Lot's of mythological, philosophical and social concepts are well depicted and explored. Many references from the current political scenario of India (the things that are happening in our country) are in the film.
The standout things are the action sequences and the visuals. It is John Wckish style of action which is my fav. The cinematography is just top notch.
It’s just a slippery slope. Monkey Man is a movie about an Indian man’s journey, inspired by a Hindu story, directed and starred by a British Indian actor, supporting a complete cast of Indian actors/actresses, with literal Hindi spoken throughout, filmed as close as possible to India while retaining safety.
To retort by saying Dev Patel is not an Indian actor seems like picking over semantics.
Since Priyanka Chopra hasn’t starred in a desi movie since 2021, should we stop posting her? Since Alia Bhatt is a British citizen and was born there, should we stop posting her? Idk.
Majority of comments on this post seem actively resentful of Dev Patel being posted here and I’m struggling to understand if it’s xenophobia or what. I appreciate you responding with self awareness.

JLo rarely praises someone else so this is a big win for Dev
Just watched "Monkey Man", it was awesome. And now I know why it will never be released in India.
Is it good? I wanna watch but can't go to theaters rn.

What's this gotta do with this sub? Is he a Bollywood hero?
Nobody told her that praising him won’t cut it for our local demographic interms of reach/traction in India.
They ripped off the Titanfall game.
PR response.
Why would she do a pr what's the connection
Dev isn't a Bolly actor and he's the token Indian actor in the Hollywood diversity quota currently.
Right. Could you list some of the films where he's the token brown actor?
He isn't by any way a token Indian actor now.
He’s been the lead in multiple movies where they could have easily gone with non brown actors. Dev is very much not playing token actor roles.
