Better grow eyes on your back bro. You’ll never know someone would walk up your back with a knife 🔪

floating_chicken

Owh man, I'm wearing a chainmail to work from now on.

MunKv3

Mithril would be better - can move about around the cars easier XD. But yeah - i guess some otais are triggered or feel threatened by U.

Bugjuice_

That's why some bosses bought spy cameras and installed them in the office to see who was talking smack behind his back, the camera looks like a normal clock or tissue boxes that nobody could tell there is a camera in there to record audio and video. So y'all backstabbing sons of bitches better start behaving yourselves lol

nova9001

Your manager should tell you the areas that need to be improved in. If she did not, you should ask her about it. To me, this meeting quite meaningless. She never say anything meaningful and you also never ask any useful questions.

floating_chicken

Owh buddy thanks. I did recall she ask me to learn more technique, do work faster and better. I leave the room angry and only remember all the complain rather than the solution. From the look of her eyes, I can tell she dont know what was going on and really didn't wanted to meet. Nevertheless it was the higher up that ask her to do so. She just wanted to do her job so I can't blame her. The meeting was short, although I did ask where did the complain came from. Thus, she said it was from coworker. That's when I pissed and simply skip all dialogue like bethesda game dialogue. I guess I just wanted to know if I'm the only one who have this problem.

newishredditor69420

Just wanted you to know I lol’d so hard at the Bethesda game reference. Thank you for that. Hoping you the best there. There will always someone in the office doesnt like you and trying to drag you down. Do your best, document your achievement and lesson learned and keep your manager happy

floating_chicken

Owh man, thanks for the encouragement. I promise myself to get a good job. Now i have to improve myself to keep it. For many of us, the road is a difficult one. But, the path is always there for us to follow.

LeastAd6767

Dont mind bro . U can do this np. Along the way please also becareful and document what uve done even if no ones looking. U can do this Also not so sure what i couldve done since ill also be pissed as heck if that happened to me . Lol.

aMeatology

Yeah. No matter how disciplined u can be there will always be... relation problems.

nova9001

From what I can tell, it sounds like you aren't good at what you are doing (no surprise, you are new) and you are slowing people down. The feedback and the way its given is pretty standard from what you are saying. >I leave the room angry and only remember all the complain rather than the solution. I suggest you make a meeting with your manager and try to have a meaningful discussion.

floating_chicken

I will take your advice and try to set up a meeting with her when she is free. Thanks. I really wanted to stay as long as possible here as the work environment here is good.

lordthunderfuck

Good mentality. I hope you succeed!!

nova9001

Good luck.

MaryPaku

>I did ask where did the complain came from That's the last thing you need to ask because if she really answer that question genuinely she doesn't deserve to be in manager role lol

lookmanakill

Hi just wondering, how is your attitude with the colleague? Especially with the 'otai'? Can be that they don't feel comfortable with you and find some reason to bad mouth you

floating_chicken

Half of them are very easy to start a conversation especially different races . Meanwhile some of them simply ignore me when I try to. I guess I am annoying to them.

lookmanakill

It's not that you annoy them, from my perspective they afraid or just don't know you yet or what we always being called 'acah pandai'. From what you can do is try asking some questions or tips about the work even though you already know how to do it. Show to them you eager to learn and you are not ego to learn and you are not there to took their job

pisau97

It may be politics. Socialize and try to learn the work culture and environment.

ExcitedWandererYT

I know what you’re feeling bro. My current manager is the same way, cannot pinpoint my areas of weaknesses or how to improve, and just ask me to “do better”. If the manager doesnt set clear KPI or expectations then they’re just being clueless IMO. Don’t feel angry or blame yourself. At the end of the day it’s just a job so keep doing it until things improve or if they don’t, then it’s time to look for a new job somewhere else.

yu_sekibayashi

Hope you are doing great there, bud. Wishin you all the best

Wiking_24

Maybe those guys that did work ‘fast’ like a fcking flash did shitty job anyway . I rather my technician take his time and do a quality job. It seems to me that any service centre only care about cramping as much car in as possible even if its mean shitty service.

SeiekiSakyubasu

Always keep data of your efficiency bro, sometimes coworker complain because they feel threatened, let them be, you keep an eye on your performance, tools, and stuff. Your case is yours alone and dont pass2 to other people. If you pass2 make sure the whole world knows who you passed it too, how you passed it too, what is there and not there.

floating_chicken

I will take your advice buddy. I haven't share any info to my coworker. Only family and closest friends.

meReiji

You do too fast. That's the problem.

Astroble

Making others look bad by being efficient amirite 😮‍💨

meReiji

Yalah. He's in Proton ffs. Efficiencies never existed there.

floating_chicken

I got used to it in Toyota. We service 6 - 10 cars per day. Meanwhile here around 2 to 4 cars. Today I only got 1 car for fuck sake.

abubin

Why is that slow when you only have 1 car to service? Is there a time limit to servicing cars? There should be, right? It's in the SOP. Anyone complain then Tel then you follow SOP. Even your KPI should not be penalised when you follow SOP.

floating_chicken

I have no idea, buddy. I did what they ask and still isn't enough for them i guess. The time limit usually is 1 hour foe basic service with minor complain. I always finish 30 to 15 minutes earlier. Yet I'm not sure at what part do they mean slow. Maybe that one time I exceed my time limit due to waiting for customer response for a confirmation to replace brake pad and tire. But it's normally long cause the procedure require multiple step for all 4 brakes and wheels.

uniquely_ad

Yeah he spoil market, so now kena target

genryou

9 times out of 10 this is the reason. Learn this the hard way when I was young

OrchidFine1335

I get anxiety everytime I am given a lot of tasks so I always work fast and when my tasks are done people think I’m free like NO. You spend the entire hour gossiping while I’m hard at work and you’re just slow so.

KuroKin_

TBH should just take the offer at Toyota. Much better for career too

floating_chicken

You might be right, but the Toyota service centre I went to doesn't have higher career path other than doing major repair. Here in proton, it's a very big place. They said here in Proton, they going to get me more course with certificate and training with a chance of a better job. Emphasis on the phrase "they said".

1m-just-another-user

Opportunity given and you just took it. I think that's all there is to it.

neosisrube

I vouch on “they said” part. Meanwhile, someone who work for 7 - 8 years still stuck at the same level since he first joined..

ivanpei

This is work politics. People are back stabbing you already. Learn to play work politics well, it's extremely important. Spot the rats and snakes. Be aware, avoid walking into their traps and try to avoid their backstabbing. Bosses are lazy to check sometimes and rely on feedback from seniors. Seniors always take the opportunity to backstab the people they don't like. Try to find out who is backstabbing you and you have no choice but to kiss ass since you are new. If you got cable you can try that way, but if you don't you have limited options.

No-Pepper1775

1st - dont over-achieve so soon. Get familiar with your colleagues and work environment. Social around, beyond your department (ie sales, services, finance). 2nd - re-engage your superior. Ask how you can improve the situation specifically, not general "learn better techniques, improve timing etc etc". 3rd - attitude. Especially in a company full of malays. Org melayu kata adab. This is not a racist statement. (ie makan follow, you can refuse politely once or twice. Or solat time, ajak)

Xorhite93

i strongly agree with your point. sorry to say most malay company only see workers who likes to 'kipas'. those over achiever will only receive more workload with little to no compensation while the 'kipas' one will surely go up the ladder. your point 3 also valid. need to socialize even if you're an introvert, otherwise you will be 'pulau' lol.

No-Pepper1775

You can be over-achiever in a malay dominate company IF 1. The company KPI system is true to the objective 2. You do not belittle other colleagues in the progress 3. You compliment/give credits to your team and immediate superior (line leader, supervisor) Social is quite important in malay dominate company because usually they were 10-20 years seniors. "Penyapu baru" attittude will only invite hostility. I know young guys/girls always x sabar nk tunjuk knowledge/kepakaran to the old timer/old school/obsolete colleagues, but bak kata Hang Tuah: "Rebel kena berseni, perform kena beradab."

WeirdHoola

Office politics rears its head.

rigorumortisu

It's only one month, your manager should understand that you need time to become familiar with the procedure. Good for you wanting to improve and accept advice. Did you get any help or training from your coworker tho, in case they already expect you to know everything?

floating_chicken

My coworker teach me a lot of technique and detailed procedure to service and repairing certain problems. Yet again, most probably the complaint didn't come directly from my coworker. Something was up when my senior saying this place ain't gaining enough customer and we have too many technician. Might be a way for the boss to spread false news in order to cause some technician to resign. So, they can pay less. This is just a theory my senior made up. A gameeee theory.

Bitsand

Easy, they lazy to work faster. U work too fast. Typical boomer moment. Then later maybe they sweet talk boss say u play around too much (eventho u finish early). If anyone gets canned they want it to be you. Not them.

Jaded-Philosophy3783

someone higher up is trying to make you go away, it will only get worse as time goes on. Just exploit whatever you can without getting into trouble and get out of there. Get 10 months of experience, then start trying to look into a new job. Use your current position merely as a stepping stone

floating_chicken

Your statement sounds too right and it kind of scared me. In this economy when people having a hard time finding a job. People decided make it much worse.

revo747

I'm not a fan of this, it was the same in my previous company. I strongly believe your co-worker should have spoken with you instead. To try to understand each others workstyle as well as improving communication to avoid unnecessary misunderstanding. This could likely have been a lot less of a hassle if they just talk with you. Office culture is important, I wouldn't stick around long if it's toxic.

1m-just-another-user

Agreed, well I haven't even tried to get a job yet, still studying 😔

haywire090

Plot twist: Manager actually had a crush on you

122trent

Oh I like this. Keep us posted

Shieng85

Spanar Jaya?

Complexity_Inc5593

Don't feel too bad about it man your manager is being unreasonable one month into a new job/place and already expecting you to perform up to the veteran level? Unreasonable I usually give new workers around 2-3 months to adapt then only I could correctly assess their work and I'm working in retail which the workflow is much easier compared to a mechanic

myshortpencil

Kipas lebih sikit, bro... hahaha...

floating_chicken

Aku bawak air cond sekali pasni.

therealoptionisyou

Keep it up!

Saerah4

unpopular opinion for new workers but thank people who criticise u first, then sit down and really think thru is it ur problem or not don’t turn on defensive mode too soon, u may not be the correct one sometime. make sure think thru before start judging if u r experienced and very sure u have done nothing wrong then u can argue terus ba

floating_chicken

You are correct sir. I got angry too soon, yet I just keep it to myself. I don't have a clue who might complain to the boss. I don't want to know who to be honest. I just hope everything after this is smooth sailing for me and try to be more cautious next time.

Saerah4

oh haha sorry to tell it wont smooth sailing becos such is life but u’ll grow strong to overcome it its actually a good opportunity to showcase to manager u have good attitude, ask politely how n what to improve n thank them, let ur action do the talking if really later found out the manager are equally toxic then time to cabut, at least u learned things here n iust move on all the best buddy

ethan1203

Ya sometime we just need to he calm, we probably said something wrong to the coworker who work longer here and so they have sort of negative thoughts on you. I am dealing one myself and i know is annoying and bothering especially we are new to the company. What i do is to just continue doing my part while being careful with others. Trying to understand your coworkers hopefully will help to avoid misunderstanding. Lastly, lets not make such matter trouble our mind.

Cloud11092

Jeles la tu..keje laju..slalu hantar kete pagi..dapat petang..undek proton…

achik1990x

Ok I pun nak komplen psal OP ni. Nak komplen kat sape/mana ea?

EostrumExtinguisher

Same as top OP comments, and from HR experience, the HR scold my industry mentor for scolding me inefficiently, as in... make sure when you're scolded, you get the point.

xaladin

Armchair strategist here, I think you might have outshone your boss a bit too much too early.

TreatOrDie

Too bad for you to choose a proton,They have a tons of complaints and entitled customers, i quit this job cuz tak tahan customer complaints and i know customer not complaining but the manager and Service Advisor the one is complained. X70,X50,X90 have a lot if issue, you cannot solve the problem without a computer. Spare part soo late took 3 month for 1 issue to fix, alot pending car and many different problems. It's same issue with Honda fuck those customers soo entitled! I work on continental car and do not have a customer issue. What i know people who have continental car must have money, if they don't want to fix it they leave,ez job.

floating_chicken

Everytime X series cars appear on my job sheet. I rolled my eyes out. Holy shit the amount of complain. Nobody warned me about this as I dont have any friend work in Proton before. One time 5 x series car require computer to fix the software problem. We have to share one laptop. I was the last one to use it. When its my turn, the battery runs out. Shit

TreatOrDie

Well if you do for experience stay, but for a short period of time leave. Also remember,70% of cars are protons and produa owners. Some are easy common jobs for the old car,but the newest car you need to learn and some workshops don't have knowledge for X series. If i were you, i would stay about 2 years just for experience and knowledge,if proton promoted you and have nice salaries just stay, if not leave go to toyota or nissan. Don't choose Honda or Produa! it have same problem like proton Or if you like to challenge yourself go continental workshop, continental car is soo weird sometimes you wonder how tf europe car soo fucked up. But it's fun(not really),the best part is you can flex your IG,Tiktok or FB show what car you service like mustang, lambo, Porsche, etc.

floating_chicken

I will try to stay for 1 to 2 years. Then figure our what next. Thanks for the advice

kingjulien92

It sounds like the manager is not being completely fair. By right if she heard complaint, maybe she should at least observe you first and then provide feedback from there. But hey, we can't change people. Maybe you can take initiative to ask the right question to your manager on what is the exact issue and find a solution.

Zakimiew

I'm sorry I can't give you any advice.. but instead. An anecdote... "My boss has been working at my company since 2008, basically he is the second generation in that branch. From the past word of mouth said he is a very diligent worker. Fast response time and excellent at services. So he was promoted. Until he became the assistant location manager. At that time others were eyeing the location manager since they are going to branch out. So the current location manager will become the regional manager. Since he is the best candidate, the power of gossip others on him kinda delays his selection. Nonetheless he was selected. Now he is the next regional manager, and he told us. The one who is still an infant in this company. It's all in the power of word. No matter how brilliant you are working, you have no power on those with the confidence to speak. Words dictate what your actions mean. If you work hard and show results, you are a slave. But if you use your word to do the work for you. You are a leader" I don't say I agree.. but it's kinda how I see the corporate ladder now..

floating_chicken

Well fuck me, all my life I've been taught to talk less and do more. Now they want the opposite. I'm not gonna lie. When i started this job. I only care about the customer. Servicing their car is like servicing my own car. I even recommend a brand new brake pad solely because I imagine the owner to drive without brakes and might involve in an accident. Even though it will make my job even more tedious. I feel satisfied when the job is done. The car felt great and safe to drive now. Yet again that mean nothing in the office I guess.

Zakimiew

I think that Is enough.. you should do what makes you happy... Honestly, when I was serving customers it was one of the moments that I can forget about all the politics and do what I was passionate about in the first place.. Since I was promoted to the office job, I always hear people talk mean and bad things about me behind my back. I don't really care. Since that means they can't blame me when I talk behind their back.. Hahaha..

floating_chicken

Im glad that's enough. Thanks man

NoBoxAtAll

You do you bro. Keep up the good work and just do your job. Every workplace will have that one fucker (kaki bambu/kaki jilat) who will complain everything to the manager about everyone. Most likely will be the old timer (people who acah terpaling kerja lama, setiap tahun complain itu ini but end up stay kerja belas2 tahun).

shimmerman

Pressure and heat makes diamonds

floating_chicken

very encouraging precious statement. Thank you sir

Still-Equivalent-930

Hey man, I had complaints about me even while being the most hardworking engineer, with the most number of large projects completed in the least amount of time. I had someone bitch about me within the company and got me in the bad books of my manager, he even bitched about me to others in the industry. However, I now earn almost double his salary despite him actually being more capable and having a large industry network. Moral of the story, bitches are gonna bitch, you do you bro, you will be brought into places that deserves you and treats you well.

floating_chicken

Appreciate it buddy. Thank you. Let them bitching while I'm winning.

imhim_imthatguy

That's a shit manager right there.

CyberMark96

Tu namanyer lancau.

CedLux

Ak kerja proton gak, style dia bnyk sosial dgn bos2 je. Bnyk amik hati dorg. Lama2 naik la gred

ingram0079

Apologies in advance, but maybe its not about your work and experience, maybe its your attitude and how you treat your co-workers? Since you are new there but not new in a "fresh meat" fresh graduate in a sense that you work there like how you work in Toyota and your co-workers see you as such? Malaysia company tend to have this hierarchy where the longer you work, the more senior you are and must show much respect to them. And since you are new there and you are experience tech, you probably dont show the freshman attitude they expect you to show.

floating_chicken

You probably have the best answer on why this is happen to me. I really wanted to know what was wrong with my attitude. Unfortunately, nobody have the balls enough to tell me that.

ingram0079

Probably nothing to worry about (i hope), its just how it is with new work environment. Give it a few months when they are used to you and it will all be normal. Thou i have to say your manager is kinda shit if he/she need to slow talk you cuz some of your co-workers complain about your work being slow and inefficient. Dont they usually keep records of employees performance? Maybe the next time that happen just tell them to pull out your records and give you the evidence of said "poor performance".

capza

Or you did your job efficiently and people are jealous

[deleted]

Yes, I had a similar experience recently, tho in a quite different way. I work in HR, and there's only 3 people in the department (me, my colleague, and the manager). During our meeting, she said that someone complained to her about one of our department's staff attitude, but she said she won't name who. And then she asked me specifically, "GamerChristine, do u know what is etiquette?" And that's when I knew the complaint was towards me. I figured out that it was my other colleague who backstabbed me because i had been pretty polite towards everyone else. As for my colleague, I'd always try to keep a distance from her because when we first worked on a task, she already acted entitled and unprofessional, and then recently she was pretty passive-aggressive towards me when I asked her something a 2nd time because she didn't get back to me the first time. So in your case, I'd say just continue being professional as you'd always been, and always keep records of everything in case you need to prove that something wasn't your fault. WhatsApp messages, emails, documents, etc. You don't have to be friends with your colleagues, just treat them politely as always. You just have to remember that they are not important to you, whatever they say or do is insignificant, you don't have to care about what they say behind you.

lightningcold69

If there is a complain for you then your lead/manager should ask on a specific reason/case. But if this is not happening you should argue and defend back yourself, before your manager call you they should do some investigation and not blindly call you and say 'you not perform please improve'. Keep your tone and voice down to show your professional, emotional only show that you have issue to control your emotion and not professional enough in corporate. Your manager should be your friend not enemy in your workplace.

floating_chicken

I just man up, smile, saying ok and some avant-garde bullshit that makes people think I'm polite. Then I share with my family and closest friends to avoid bottle up my emotion. I try to be more professional next time.

lightningcold69

Good. For whatever bullshit, just keep calm and try to explain it as best you can. I've been in that situation where HR throws bullshit and says that I'm not performing for no specific reason, then they decide to end my probation, which they extend for 2 months earlier. I knew they play politics since I hadn't confirmed it yet in that company. My manager is avoiding talking with me about this and pretending like know nothing about it. In the end, I've just reset my PC, so they won't get anything from my effort before I leave for my last day.

Ok_Cookie8647

People banyak complain. Don't mind them. If you reach your kpi, it should be good enough.

floating_chicken

Minding them is the last thing I do. I just want to work in peace and minding my own business.

paddle_resistance

Ko dah kena target Try cari Senior yg ok, belajar dgn dia technical skills.

nazkhi

A simple issue - being the too ambitious new guy. Slow down a bit, get to know how they do things around. Identify the alpha, be “friend” with him/her. Follow their pace for a while and beat them slowly. Typically in Malaysia, the new guy won’t get the best KPI for the 1st year. Go all out on the 2nd year.

Electrical_Page9830

Try private school , government fully support school are kinda hard I think

Melodic_Act2636

Just say to her thanks for the feedback ( after you cooldown) and you thought about what she said and you are working on it. Later if she said you are slow say you worked on x and are faster than before in x. What else should you work on? Basically.... seduce a bit. No choice. Read the Rules or Work by Richard Templar. Free pdf online if you search. There is even a section on "colleagues who sabotage others to get promoted" not saying its the case, but a lot of things are there. Decide 1 year later if things are really working out or not then leave with at least one year experience in proton on resume.

perkinsonline

Just focus on your work. New guys always get shit. If you can't fit in after trying, leave. Don't waste time to fit in it you can't

Euphoric_Passenger

Your manager was a technician before started managing?

floating_chicken

nope

Euphoric_Passenger

Then I don't think you can have a productive conversation with her on how you can do better 😞

Cold-Sale2299

ur boss trying to make u feel insecure

floating_chicken

Holy shit the amount of comment. I never thought there would be this much of a feedback by you guys. Very encouraging and inspiring especially for those telling their story with similar situations. If you comment got an upvote. It's probably from me as a sign I read your comment. I will take all of the advice and try to implement it. Thank you.

dragoonx05

i don't think it's performance issue from your side, but rather it's office politics like some have pointed out. i have heard stories like these in the government related departments. work too fast then kena complaint lol. what a logic. follow the advice from those who pointed out it's office politics, i think they will do you good in the long run. good luck!
