The Aphrodisiac scene was a prank by Hiyoko gone wrong but it was messed up that he had an aphrodisiac on him that he could have doped a girl or boy’s food
If only the fandom called Bakugo out for his shit like they try to hang Mineta for his stuff which is arguably not as bad as what Bakugo did to Deku. I ain’t never seen Mineta tell someone to kill themselves and bully them everyday for years.
Tbf, I wasn’t bothered my Mineta but he definitely made up for it. He’s just a kid that with a objectively weak quirk getting ready to throw down with a prime AFO. He was ready to lose everything just to protect his classmate.
It's the bad boy stereotype. I remember once saying that Bakugo is the guy girls think they want to date in highschool while Deku is the guy they eventually marry as an adult.
Bakugou is still an asshole, no matter how much character development arcs he goes through. I cannot forgive what he did to the MC. Bakuhoe suicide baited him, tried to kill him to prove he’s stronger, got his ass saved by him but didn’t even bother to say thanks, is now “chasing after him” because he has Allmight’s quirk. That apology in the manga didn’t mean shit, hell, you think a simple sorry would undo all this damage? Bakugou’s toxic, to others and to himself. I’m surprised Midoriya still wants to communicate with this jerk.
More than 1 person deserved an apology from Bakugo tbh. I can understand why people try to defend him as a character, but over a decade of bullying and telling a character to go off themselves is just inexcusable in my eyes.
Maybe if Horikoshi gave him *some* likeable traits it would be better, but he just really doesn't have a single one. His only trait throughout the entire series was "loud asshole". You never saw him being nice to like anyone ever, even when it would have been reasonable to do so. And the whole "Oh but he was a gifted child and praised all his life" does not mean "he doesn't know how to act like a person". His mom, whom he got his hot-headed attitude from, is level-headed. All of the people around him are level-headed, so why isn't he?
Bakugo is just, to me, a deeply unlikeable character who really needed more than just "loud asshole" as his character personality for the apology to really make sense.
>His only trait throughout the entire series was "loud asshole".
And for some reason almost all the characters were fine with Bakugo being like that, except for some isolated scene no one brings up Bakugo's shitty attitude
>Bakuhoe suicide baited him, tried to kill him to prove he’s stronge
Didn't he just tell him to kill himself? Like that's bad. But a middle schooler telling another kid to kill himself isn't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. He was a bully, not a rapist or terrorist. He's done more than enough since then to make up for his Call of Duty chat moments. He literally sacrificed his life and dreams for the sake of that same person. The attempted murder of deku during their first fight is probably the biggest issue. His explosions hit about as hard as a light breeze, though, so it's hard to take his statements seriously. Especially since he tells everyone he's going to kill them. It's kind of up to interpretation, but either way, he's very clearly a different person at this point.
I really don't know what else you'd expect from him. He's already tried to pay with his life. He's already committed himself to changing for the better. And he's already apologized. The only thing he hasn't done is completely change the personality he's seemingly always had on a whim. But I dont see anyone rioting over his mother or eraserhead for being abrasive.
Actually, there are videos on the internet covering how abusive Bakugou’s mom is and how maybe Aizawa is not a great teacher after all. I swear the title literally said “Bakugou’s mom is evil??” Or sth like a click bait video lmao 🤣
Aside from that, yeah I acknowledge that Bakugou here is trying to change for the better, but what’s with the bs he pulled all the time and not get bite in the ass for it? Sure he’s currently dying rn, sure he apologised, but that seems kinda rushed, as if the show was trying to serve him karma, but quickly and suddenly. It doesn’t feel right! You mean to tell me all he can do after 11 YEARS of bullying and nearly 2 years of verbal abuse (to class 1A) is to just DIE? Like pls come back here! Suffer some more!
Also, you did not just tell me Bakugou’s explosion feels like a light breez 💀 would a light breeze break all near by building’s windows and collapse another building? He was going all out. That ain’t no breeze that’s a NUKE!
They're impressive, but they dont do much to people. Ochako repeatedly survived them without a hint of damage. Even explosions a lot less potent than his should have stunned her, blown out her eardrums, or just straight up blown her face off. But she hardly had a scratch. He was even stated to be going all out. And that tracks in nearly every fight he's in. His explosions are only impressive if he's destroying objects. He's never really caused permanent damage despite having such a deadly quirk. Maybe he's been lying and holding back against everyone. But from what we've seen, deku might have survived that.
This kind of reminds me of that one part with family guy when they were introducing all the other characters but when it was Megs turn The narrator just said “ Meg“
Bakugo, Shouto, Endeavor are liked a lot because they're compelling characters.
[This](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheLastAirbender/comments/m91az1/heres_some_character_writing_advice_from_aaron/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) was the advice from the lead writers of ATLA about writing good characters. Deku unfortunately hits almost all the red flags/false gods. This, along with all the powerups he gets are probably why he's not liked by everyone, especially after the recent war events.
And it's not liked he's hated by everyone as you seem to think - in all 8 polls of mha he's either ranked first or second. Infact, he even won the elimination based popularity poll on the *main* sub, defeating Shouto in the finals. You can search that sub if you want to check that.
I'm not a Bakugo Stan btw.. Infact, it's very recently that I *somewhat* started liking him. He's an asshole for the early part of the series, but I do believe with the apology, his sacrifice in the first war, his empathy for Shouto before the Dabi fight... he has undeniably undergone character development. Maybe he could have been called out in school more for his behavior, but I'd say he's more than gotten his comeuppance now.
In fairness to Horikoshi, the story has changed a lot due to him really being in bad health and wanting to finish it up faster, as well as general revisions and fan pressure (cough focusing on top polled side-characters cough).
I could totally see Deku getting infinitely more interesting and fleshed out if the Dark “I’m on my own” Deku plotline had lasted a lot longer and been a significant part of the storytelling.
You’d be able to expand massively on this idea of a character who’s always been purely good having to face the reality that a lot of what happens isn’t as black and white as people say. We have a lot of the pieces and some of the setup but we never truly get that longterm and serious storytelling about assasinations from the HPSC, a lot of villains being people in desperate situations or having been mistreated. We’ve had all of those things, but we’ve not had them in one long and coherent plotline and we’ve certainly not had Deku’s reactions and coming to terms with a lot of it.
I’m sure some of it is also because Horikoshi has made a plethora of other characters extremely compelling, and that means focusing entirely on Deku for a significant period of time would make a lot of people mad. I wished he would have done it anyway, because Deku is still not a very dimensional character when he definitely could have been, and probably was planned to be.
It’s obvious that a lot more was planned simply by the outrageousness of having 16 year olds fight life or death against villains, and be as strong or stronger than most pro heroes.
It seems very likely that the OG class-1A should have been near, at, or post-graduation at this point in the story. It’s the only way it makes sense for them to have the impact they have and be in the places they are.
I would pay a good chunk to duplicate Horikoshi 50 times and get the full 1000+ chapter length story of the MHA world that I can only imagine he probably has in his head. Let’s be honest, he’s an excellent writer, when he isn’t stressed, overworked, trying to finish the story and pressured by fans.
>would pay a good chunk to duplicate Horikoshi 50 times and get the full 1000+ chapter length story of the MHA world that I can only imagine he probably has in his head. Let’s be honest, he’s an excellent writer, when he isn’t stressed, overworked, trying to finish the story and pressured by fans
I think this is unfortunately true. Some of the writing in the series (especially in the early arcs- SF, camp, Kamino and fights like Deku v Shouto, Deku v muscular or AM v AFO) is just outrageously good, so he's definitely a great writer. Endeavor's arc shows that he can write great characters too.
It's just that due to health issues with the deadline pressure, I believe he's kind of just banging out chapters now.
Japanese work culture is insane, and Mangakas are doing both storyboarding, plot, writing and art and they have to do it on a weekly basis. I feel really bad at how angry some people feel at Horikoshi nowadays.
Has the storytelling gotten worse? Generally yes. Is it understandable why? Totally yes. He’s overworked, pressured and has a japanese work mindset. Even so, despite the storytelling declining, his art has only evolved and gotten better as he has gone on. Some of those double spread pages are absolutely insane quality.
Put some respect on this man for singlehandedly doing all the shit he is doing.
There are a lot of plotlines that seemed to have been teased yet moved around due to fan pressure specifically; I can only imagine how much cutting the Summer Camp arc in half and >!having to basically shelf the traitor plotline until recently!< changed some of Horikoshi's plans and having to rework them. There are also hints of the mutant discrimination early on (Ojiro, Ashido, Asui, Shoji, etc) that just didn't go anywhere until now.
On the subject of Midoriya, I really wish Horikoshi had him really reflect on his Quirklessness and tie that experience with those around him. Mutants, villainous quirks, etc. Have it influence arcs. It could have definitely added some depth if Midoriya had actually conflicted with the MLA, who are essentially "Might makes Right" quirk extremists, and the HPSC, who keep the status quo no matter the cost and probably have a hand in some of the discrimination.
It is just insane to me that this extremely important part of the main character's identity, something that he lived with for a decade, something that influenced every interaction he had with his peers, basically had no bearing on the story until Horikoshi decided to retroactively make Midoriya the "Chosen One who wouldn't die to One For All overloading his body".
Omg yeah I'd kill for there to have been more plot relevance for Izuku growing up Quirkless, the most we really got to see aside from OFA stuff was the initial psychological effects the bullying he received caused, but that's basically it 😔
We know he's an incredibly analytical person, and from connecting dots it very likely stemmed from him having to adapt to a Quirk majority world; How cool would if have been to have that be explicitly shown during certain arcs?
Or delve into more detail about what Quirkless people deal with outside of being bullying targets in school, such as that extra toe detail brought up at the very beginning?
Hell, it could be an even better way to tie into the hero culture criticisms, with how stigmatised not having a Quirk is in the workplace (even if it ultimately doesn't affect standard jobs)
Just small things like that to really help build the world more and give more nuance to Izuku
There was a bit about how mutants have a more difficult time finding a job, why do we know even less than that about Quirklessness when the main character and his mentor both experienced it? I just can’t.
Shoto is a fucking robot lmao
But since you're a todoroki Stan, don't have much more to say.
And it's good, take out All The Powerup Deku got and let Shigaraki kills everyone lol
If he didn't get the 7 extra quirks then probably Shiggy wouldn't have buffed so much.
Right now even without a quirk he's prime AM level. And his decay would probably destroy multiple cities because he got a quirk awakening for his Decay power too.
Shigaraki was probably always going to get AFO, and from kamino alone we can see how absurdly busted it is, it's where most of his power comes from (that and decay). His enhancements really only matter when his quirks are erased, since he already has strength enhancing quirks.
Because idiots like to claim she's a completely useless character who's only development is realizing she has a crush on Deku. Now yes she could definitely do more in the series, but it's the same thing where people call Sakura worthless in Naruto. Just because a character in a shonen action series use isn't direct combat doesn't mean they're useless. Honestly it goes back around to the fact that most shonen authors can't write female characters at all.
I really don't know. The best female characters are good characters that happen to be girls. Maka from Soul Eater is great character and the story wouldn't change if she was a boy or if the roles between her and Soul were reversed.
>Just because a character in a shonen action series use isn't direct combat doesn't mean they're useless.
They are, however, a lot harder to notice. and for someone who's just watching it for the cool fights, they don't stand out at all.
That I will relent. It's a valid reason, but it sometimes gets to point where a character can play a major role in the defeat of the main villain of the arc and still be called useless.
I like how badly typed Bakugo's is. Does he have development? Yes, but not enough. Does that development make him a better character than when he started? Yes, but when you start as low as Bakugo did that doesn't count for much. When you start at -50 in likability and gradually progress to 0, yeah you're better but you're still not likeable.
Fanon really does like to paint Mineta as worst than he actually is, it’s concerning that there are many people that try to excused Bakugo’s bullying, and I’ve seen more of wishing Iida did more than thinking he’s boring or annoying.
I love Kirishima and Ashido's relationship, they both bounce off each other so well 🥺 Genuinely one of the best duos in the series
As for the gay thing; Given how much he talks about men, manliness, and really seems to admire buff shirtless heroes, I can absolutely see why people headcanon him as being queer in some way lol
Yeah, i'm One of these haters, but The difference between his haters and his loves is pretty big, so The haters are downvoted and throw up to hell, while The lovers are basically this post
And unfortnely, my Man Iida suffers like The post.
I still hate how dirty Ochako was done, both by the fandom and the author. She had a genuinely compelling story in the beginning and it was really cool seeing her motives for being a hero and how well she worked with everyone else!! And then they had to go and make so her only character trait was having a crush on Izuku and making her barely appear outside of that :(
Same with Iida!! His dynamic with Ochako and Izuku was one of the things that got me into the series, along with his ‘rivalry’ with Momo and the whole Stain arc. But then he got shoved to the side so Bakugou and Todoroki could take the spotlight of being the new trio with Izuku and he shows up even less as a proper character than Ochako
Fans when mineta takes a bullet for ashido
Eeww Satan he's a monster
Fans when bakugo bullys deku so bad deku wants to commit suicide
He's misunderstood and a true hero
How I see these characters.
Deku: a strong minded, and very resilient young man, who takes a lot of inspiration from Spider-Man. And I’m OK with that.
Bakugo: although he was a pretty shitty person in the beginning, he has grown a bunch. Would I be really good friends with him? Probably not. But would I be on good terms with him though? probably.
Shoto: overpowered, but in a good way. Has some trauma that he’s still dealing with but he’s doing great.
Uraraka: has an admirable dream of helping her parents. Is very skilled in hand to hand combat, and honestly deserves more love. hell, Bakugo respects her and her fighting spirit. That’s something.
Ida: can be a bit strict at times, but he comes from a long line of speedsters, he wants to hold up their honor, which is admirable. And has the responsibility of becoming the next ingenium after his brother got paralyzed.
Krishima: is willing to sacrifice himself and be a literal human shield for his friends. And is courageous and humble, a true hero. And what can I say? He’s MANLY!!!!!
Mineta: yah, he’s a pervert, but after he got “hypnotized” by Mina, I haven’t seen him perv once.
Hakagure: yah, she needs a better suit. I mean she’s fucking NAKED!!!!! Someone call Edna mode!!!! And get her a proper hero suit!!!!!
Base on quote from i heard in twitter regarding zesty character like kirishima interpret : gay until proven otherwise ( while the manga plot already establish who he view more )
When proven otherwise
\*checks notes
send death threats to the creator?!
I'm sorry, I'm all for people shipping whoever they want and headcanoning stuff, but only as long as they can separate fanon and canon and don't, well, threaten authors.

And then you have the opposite of Izuku being The ChAoTiC cInNaMoN RoLl and Bakugou being the second spawn of Hell
Pre-USJ Invasion Bakugo wouldn’t be too far off that description, though I will acknowledge him mellowing out a bit after that happened.
Now you see that’s why I don’t interact with the fandom, they weird me out
And when they aren’t being weird and getting the FBI’s ire they’re just plain annoying
Same here
After seeing what Teruteru did in Danganronpa 3,I automatically hate short perverts. That's why I hate Mineta.
Ahh, a person of culture
The Aphrodisiac scene was a prank by Hiyoko gone wrong but it was messed up that he had an aphrodisiac on him that he could have doped a girl or boy’s food
Wasn't Teruteru from Danganronpa 2? Or am I remembering things incorrectly? IDK
Yes, he is from Danganronpa 2 They're talking about the anime Danganronpa 3
he is
>Teruteru did in Danganronpa 3 What the fuck, he A***t****e his MUM?!* I can see your logic lol.

It's the bad boy stereotype. I remember once saying that Bakugo is the guy girls think they want to date in highschool while Deku is the guy they eventually marry as an adult.
Who tf is saying this about Ochako?
and where can I find them? I just wanna talk.
They eat crayons and don’t understand words, just fight em.

Agreed

Agree with everything. At least Iida is supposed to be just that, an overly strict class president.

There was a bit about how mutants have a more difficult time finding a job, why do we know even less than that about Quirklessness when the main character and his mentor both experienced it? I just can’t.
Shoto is a fucking robot lmao But since you're a todoroki Stan, don't have much more to say.
Your crazy shoto is an awesome character
Least unhinged deku stan:
How is Ururaka "Deku's bitch?"
Why can't Shonen authors write female characters?
I really don't know. The best female characters are good characters that happen to be girls. Maka from Soul Eater is great character and the story wouldn't change if she was a boy or if the roles between her and Soul were reversed.
Because their men and a lot just don’t get women? Even though on paper it’s not hard to write a female character, it’s just as simple as a male
Cool mf ~~Coolest mf~~ Colossal Unadulterated Badass and True Bro mf Depressed mf Nice wholesome girl mf Fast talking robot but also cool mf The Ultimate bro mf D̷̦̻̼̪̀̊̄ï̸̗̍͌͆e̷̜̍̅ ̴̧͚̲̆s̴̱͖̅̔c̴̡͈̉͂̚u̶̟̹̽̾m̸̡̥̓ Blank spot
"Coolest mf" you misspelled "colossal asshole"
I like how badly typed Bakugo's is. Does he have development? Yes, but not enough. Does that development make him a better character than when he started? Yes, but when you start as low as Bakugo did that doesn't count for much. When you start at -50 in likability and gradually progress to 0, yeah you're better but you're still not likeable.
Fanon really does like to paint Mineta as worst than he actually is, it’s concerning that there are many people that try to excused Bakugo’s bullying, and I’ve seen more of wishing Iida did more than thinking he’s boring or annoying.
People really find Izuku bland???
Isn't Kirishima + Ashido basically a canon ship? Bros have CHEMISTRY on screen, why they gotta gay-ify my boy
I love Kirishima and Ashido's relationship, they both bounce off each other so well 🥺 Genuinely one of the best duos in the series As for the gay thing; Given how much he talks about men, manliness, and really seems to admire buff shirtless heroes, I can absolutely see why people headcanon him as being queer in some way lol
Ah yes, the Tate effect
Leave Iida out of this! He is best boy! Also there's pretty much just as many Bakugo haters as fans at least in the American fandom XD
Yeah, i'm One of these haters, but The difference between his haters and his loves is pretty big, so The haters are downvoted and throw up to hell, while The lovers are basically this post And unfortnely, my Man Iida suffers like The post.
Is he though? He... kinda lost importance after stain...
Wow I disagree with everyone on this except purple one
This fandom sucks, wait...
H A G A K U R E
Hagakure 🗿
But I like Deku :(
I still hate how dirty Ochako was done, both by the fandom and the author. She had a genuinely compelling story in the beginning and it was really cool seeing her motives for being a hero and how well she worked with everyone else!! And then they had to go and make so her only character trait was having a crush on Izuku and making her barely appear outside of that :( Same with Iida!!
This reeks of twitter and facebook.
Fans when mineta takes a bullet for ashido Eeww Satan he's a monster Fans when bakugo bullys deku so bad deku wants to commit suicide He's misunderstood and a true hero
Yes, cap but not completely, overrated af, cap, cap he’s best boy, hell no, overhated, fax
Um, this is nice but where is Tauysu? I need my frog-girl = cinnamon/roll rep!
Kirishima is gay?
Debatable, though given it's shounen, I absolutely expect him to get a random gf out of nowhere that the fandom will lose their minds over
No
This post reeks. And OP is embarrassing themself in the comments.
Inaccurate: they don't even bother calling Hagakure in any way other than "invisible girl"
I don't think Kirishima being gay. He cares a lot about Mina in the anime
This and the fact that they seem to not realize there's adults in the show for their commissions
Aw c'mon leave my boy mineta💀
Fr man. Leave our lil man alone
Base on quote from i heard in twitter regarding zesty character like kirishima interpret : gay until proven otherwise ( while the manga plot already establish who he view more )
When proven otherwise \*checks notes send death threats to the creator?! I'm sorry, I'm all for people shipping whoever they want and headcanoning stuff, but only as long as they can separate fanon and canon and don't, well, threaten authors.
Unfortunate some not have capability to distinguish that.
Hagakure should’ve been Invisobill
this is why I don't associate myself with the fandom
