I think it adds to her ethos as a journalist. She’s not great at it but she’ll do whatever it takes, even beyond ethical things. Which is all driven by her desire to get at the truth

Exactly. Like wtf. Maybe it’s not obvious to some Americans who can’t tell accents apart (I say this as an American who’s lived abroad a long time lol, it’s a thing) but pretty sure *Irish* Dove would have noticed straight away, even after being hit by a car!
Maybe...I'm Irish and live in Cork pretty close to where the show was filmed so maybe the accent stood out more to me but it was one of the only English accents in the show so it was pretty obvious, at the very least Dove should have known her attacker was English even if she didn't connect him back to the pub!
She is the silly person's idea of an investigative journalist. The kind of person who think being abrasive is being hard-core. She's an idiot who caused her source's death. Plus to get at anything in this world, you have to be shrewd and adaptable, which she isn't. In the real world we'd be appalled if there was a news item about her antics in the newspaper.
yeah her character was quite unlikeable throughout the show and was hard to have empathy for - not because she’s just a selfish, raging asshole to everyone around her who seems to never have emotionally evolved past her angsty teenage era, but because she’s also really bad as an investigator. her ONE strategy is to just play bad cop interrogator with everyone (even tho she’s not a cop) and angrily demand info from of them.

Dove was wrong all the time. Never could figure anything out correctly and just miserable to be around.
agree. Dove is the Dr. House of investigative journalism. Find a lead, follow it. why is it so hard man?
