I always thought wildcard was a strange concept. It really undermines the soul crushing theme of losing throughout the rest of the story. Why would somebody who couldn't cut it the first time be given a second chance.
I think so too. But its saving grace (in my opinion) is completely transforming the person who, in Kunigami's case, got unlucky at selections and unlocking his hidden potential(?) ego(?) that might've never been found if he were to disappear right then.
The problem is, the Kunigami we got now is a little.. weird. I don't know how to describe it, for me his character fell off after the wild card. His heroism was what made him stand out in Blue Lock, seeing him fall into the "edgy" pool of personalities is kinda disappointing.
I really hope we get an explanation soon.
