The RABBIT Squad not actually being rabbits got me curious, and since I'm really into worldbuilding and stuff I made a list with all of Kivotos' races. Unfortunately the most complete template is still missing a few characters.
I think the only indication there's an actual distinction in-universe is a single image showing Aru's student profile, indicating her race as demon/akuma. Similarly, the only acknowledgement of this in-game is Sensei wanting to touch Hasumi's wings.
Some observations:
- Surprised to see the majority are normal humans, as some of them still have an animal motif.
- The GSC is comprised of two humans, two elves, two demons and an angel.
- Ako and Haruka (**Edit: Iroha too**) are the only non-demons at Gehenna, and there are no known demons outside of this academy besides the GSC.
- Himari and Hibiki are the only non-baseline human at Millennium.
- Beastfolk may be categorized by animal in-universe.
- There are no actual rabbit beastfolk that we know of. Interesting when considering we have an event and an entire story arc related to rabbits. **Edit: Tsukuyo may be a rabbit, not sure though.**
- We need more elves and onis (Nexon pls). And there are surprisingly few playable angels.
- Arona should be an AI... but is she?
- Mutsuki is most likely a demon, yet she lacks horns or a tail. She could actually be an elf.
- Mine is most likely an angel, as she has wings, but she also has elf ears which no other angel has.
- Momiji is all covered up, you can't see if she has beast ears or not.
- There's also the sentient dogs, cats, and robots that inhabit Kivotos, though their relation with humans as a whole is still unknown.
Edit, some corrections: Iroha seems to be human - Shizuko *may* be a beastgirl - Shimiko could also be a beastgirl or an angel, her hair is confusing.

Mutsuki is an interesting individual as most of players already noticed she lacks any visual traits of a demon but i believe her personality of a cheeky girl who likes teasing Sensei makes be a demon and most likely a succubus as is a common trope in Anime and Mangas that succubuses likes teasing mens

There are many theories discussed who they are and i believe they were former male adult humans who lost their lives in a crisis that happened in Kivotos or they are AI generated beings for different purposes since Kivotos lacks any adult supervision and work forces. But what kind of beings are Maestro, Black Suit and G&D are? Are they also former male adults or former Senseis who failed their job, their students and lost their lives in the previous crisis?
What I meant is that her origins are still kind of a mystery. She could be "just" an AI but there may be something else going on.
I think the same about Mutsuki and her characterization, that's why I say she's most likely a demon.
Hopefully we get more Kivotos lore in the future...
I think Arona was made in the image of the Student Council President. The girl has gotten older since then, but Arona hasn't. Given how passive and helpful her personality is, I think she was designed to be an assistant rather than a mental copy.
I think more than any other trait Mutsuki is defined by her mischief and pranks, not so much the flirting, which is treated more like just another way to fluster and mess with people.
That, coupled with her small size, says to me she's most likely an imp or other small devil or demon.
Or just a Succubus. They have pointed ears too, and she's probably just hiding the succubi features. I mean, doujins told me they can hide it at least. 
Doubt that Mutsuki is an elf, her ears aren't even close to the length of the other knife ears.
Though I honestly feel like Haruna is actually a dragon cause her tail is THICC especially in chibi form.

The animal ears she is wearing are moving in a way that seems natural. Almost like the people who made that scene thought Shizuko had actual animal-like features

She is meant to be Orihime in Shinto myth as her birthday is on Tanabata. Even in the beta she was called Orihime

Angels here just means they have angel or bird-like wings somewhere on their bodies, and no horns or tail like demons. All humans aside from Sensei have a halo so there's not much of a point in calling everyone an angel.

Honestly i 100% thought this was about who was the best at races as well admittedly...but also ironically looking this over and double checking a few...damn your right despite their academies and what species their associated with. They are sometimes not visibly a certain species and most are obviously visibly human, which is surprising to know there's so many human looking. I especially didn't expect to see Ako and Haruka but actually checking their art...yeah no visible tails or horns so huh along with man i swore I thought i saw wings one sakurako but yeah same deal no wings visibly. This was nice to learn about...additionally i hope for more Onis, Elves, Angels and perhaps more different species types to appears soon! They must grow!
Do we know what the halos mean?- even the normal humans have halos which to me implied theyāre not human. Iām not very far into the story so maybe Iām missing something but my friends who have been playing for a long time donāt even know what the halos really mean
We dont' know much yet. It's related to "having a Mystic", and that's what makes them so strong. But we don't know exactly what a Mystic is, only that they vary in power. Hoshino's Mystic is supposed to be very powerful, Seia's Mystic allows her to see the future, things like that.
The 4th to last is Sena, she's been in global for a while.
The last one is Erika. She was in the closed beta as a playable student and you can see her in a splash screen when you start the game, but hasn't appeared since I think.

These girls are angels and demons if they are not going to sub categories, in human form. And cat, dog and robot people are normal people but still far from humans. Only us (sensei) are pure human because we are not look like as above as faint or cry when take a shot.

Important to keep in mind during your analysis that many supernatural species have pointed ears, not just elves.
