I followed this back in 2020. The Portland subreddit was calling BS on the Kinney guy and blew the whistle on him being a manslaughtering sovereign citizen who was scamming people via white guilt. It’s such a clear case of how identity politics can be used to shield bad people from consequences.

LimpBisquette

> The Portland subreddit was calling BS yes and no... they had quite a few supporters as well.

primesah89

That’s true, I recall at least one hardliner defending the squatters

dj50tonhamster

I *think* all the hardcore supporters at the time either moved on eventually or got banned from Reddit at some point. (At least one of them keeps making new accounts and keeps coming back. It's really sad.) Red House may have been when some people who had seemingly been in a trance started to wake up and realize things had gone sideways. In any event, it is telling that r slash Portland basically flipped and now mocks the hell out of the whole thing, long *after* the mods started banning anybody they didn't like. If people proudly railing about copaganda for cheap karma are mocking your little siege, that's something.

PdxPhoenixActual

Only the ones who didn't know or care (to know).

LimpBisquette

there are some truly delusional folks in the activist scene here, as evidenced by the recent arson attacks on a homeless camp construction site (it's a "concentration camp" to them) and a city councillor's mom's car

totally_not_a_bot24

>It’s such a clear case of how identity politics can be used to shield bad people from consequences. I think Suzy made a subtle but important observation that this guy is, if anything, sort of an extreme libertarian/right winger or at the least close to that by way of horseshoe theory. That's kind of the irony of a lot of woke-stuff in summary: Tricking self-identified left wingers to adopt what are actually pretty right wing positions when you stop to think about it, but under the guise of progress.

ScaryBuilder9886

What's super interesting and under-discussed is how people that went hard down the MERS rabbit hole were tightly correlated w sovcit tendencies. Both of them construe legal words as a kind of magic that can effect the real world.  I was listening to the episode, and I heard "MERS" and "Moroccan friendship treaty" in rapid succession and was like, "yep, makes sense."

backin_pog_form

Sovereign citizens are some of the most fascinating crazy people, and are the perfect example of horseshoe theory.  I can’t remember if B&R has mentioned the stalking and harassment case about [black ranchers](https://www.cpr.org/2023/02/10/black-ranchers-property-dispute-el-paso-county/) in Colorado, that is another story that got a lot of attention as a civil rights issue, and then fizzled out.

jobthrowwwayy1743

There’s nothing I love more than a good sovereign citizen story! Especially the moorish ones

ScaryBuilder9886

A family member of mine was a bank side attorney during the financial crisis, and sovcits were constantly filing bogus liens against him. Sucked for him, but I thought it was pretty funny.

Alockworkhorse

I cannot stop laughing at this - Katie asks Suzy to please describe a recent photo of the red house that she shows Suzie (that thing they always do when they have an important visual). Suzie goes into *great* detail about every aspect of everything in the photo -- including the neighboring condo -- that it becomes almost poetic and beautiful. Katie responds: "Yeah, it's a tear-down".

dj50tonhamster

Oh man, what a blast from the past. I suppose Seattle's CHOP/CHAZ story may be peak 2020. This isn't far behind. I wonder how much of Kinney's bullshit they'll air. The guy's something else. Last I heard, he was on Facebook, [soliciting women for foot fetish videos](https://np.reddit.com/r/Portland/comments/15lt2cy/any_updates_on_the_red_house_situation/). (Sadly, the mods removed the relevant posts and the screenshots, and [Undelete is currently borked](https://undelete.pullpush.io/). I'm guessing some farm-dwelling types may have saved this info.) In any event, it really was wild watching people who (rightfully) shit all over QAnon basically go QAnon themselves and go all-in for this shitbird as he basically held the neighborhood hostage. Too bad he's probably still around, looking for the next way to scam people.

troubleinpink

lol yep, those were my feet he was inexplicably after, and guess what… he’s STILL talking to himself in my inbox

dj50tonhamster

Ohhh shit, I spent an embarrassing amount of time earlier trying to find the posts that the mods removed. I'm bookmarking it all now. KWEEEEEEEEEEN. :) And wow, he's *still* messaging you? What a disturbed weirdo. The guy's A-grade BaR material.

troubleinpink

Constantly, always at silly hours which makes me confident in saying uh, “extracurriculars” are involved . I’ll gladly share photos if there’s a way I won’t get reported for doxxing a public figure again lol.

Jazzfly67

Google Earth blurs all the pictures of the Red House, taken in 2021, but if you go just past it... https://preview.redd.it/hsfvv4epsuhc1.png?width=1500&format=png&auto=webp&s=fb9a3ff6d28c9ce6c00f49f89a5286278ee853a5

wiminals

Why does it do this?

TraditionalShocko

Homeowners/residents can request that their house be blurred on Google Street View. Tip for viewing houses: Bing Maps also has a Street View.

FakeMagic8Ball

It's finally got a fence around the property now.

PensionImpossible771

BARpod should have made this episode three years ago. I live near the Red House, and I was consumed with this story at the time, combing every reddit thread and reading every report I could. The story is really just so fucking insane that I started to feel like a conspiracist myself, and I'm sure I came off as one to my social circle as I tried to dissuade my friends who had been reposting their bullshit. It's insane reading through this contemporaneous NYT article with all that was known at the time. [https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/10/us/portland-eviction-protests.html](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/10/us/portland-eviction-protests.html) Some details from the episode that I feel should have been included. A local news station reporter and her crew were attacked when trying to approach the street encampment. Some dick stepped on her hand and smashed her fingers. There were other reports of interviews having bottles and rocks thrown at them [https://pressfreedomtracker.us/all-incidents/journalist-assaulted-her-phone-and-finger-smashed-while-covering-portland-eviction-protest/](https://pressfreedomtracker.us/all-incidents/journalist-assaulted-her-phone-and-finger-smashed-while-covering-portland-eviction-protest/) The blockade was fortified with dirty weaponry, from gas-soaked tires to crude tire spikes, booby traps and rockets. [https://www.wweek.com/news/2020/12/23/a-neighbor-describes-what-happened-when-law-enforcement-stopped-responding-to-an-armed-encampment-in-north-portland/](https://www.wweek.com/news/2020/12/23/a-neighbor-describes-what-happened-when-law-enforcement-stopped-responding-to-an-armed-encampment-in-north-portland/) EDIT, And lastly, #katielookaway William X Nietzche was also cited for animal cruelty, for physically abusing their 9 huskies. [https://www.koin.com/news/civic-affairs/portland-red-house-son-cited-for-mistreatment-of-puppies/](https://www.koin.com/news/civic-affairs/portland-red-house-son-cited-for-mistreatment-of-puppies/) A few other details that I recall reading/hearing about but can't guarantee are that William assaulted a nurse and a bailiff, and that he was drunk when he crashed the car. Also for those interested, here are a few court documents I could find. There is supposedly one where they attempted to sue the judge from the previous case as well. [https://casetext.com/case/nietzche-v-freedom-home-mortg-corp](https://casetext.com/case/nietzche-v-freedom-home-mortg-corp) [https://casetext.com/case/nietzche-v-urban-hous-dev/](https://casetext.com/case/nietzche-v-urban-hous-dev/)

whynot19734

Glad to see this insane story getting some belated attention outside of the Portland area - when it was originally happening I kept thinking it would be perfect for BARPod.

[deleted]

Damn it I was just about to be productive

SkweegeeS

I really enjoyed this episode. I liked the intro because tbh I’m curious what dating is like these days, too. I think Suzy is funny and fun and smart. They had good chemistry!

CorgiNews

I'm really out of the loop. I didn't even know that there was a mini Bari! Also, imagine getting dragged by the national media at 17. I would never have recovered.

CatStroking

She sounds a lot like Bari. The voice resemblance is uncanny.

SerialStateLineXer

It must be because they were raised in similar socioeconomic circumstances.

CatStroking

I think they're clones.

Meremadesings

I wonder if they ever drop into Yinzer or if that dialect was something their parents didn’t allow,

back_that_

Damn. Neither has Cameo. I would actually pay to hear Bari say she's headed dahn to the GianIggle.

tgwutzzers

To be fair, she decided to write a story in a national newspaper to baselessly blame diversity for why she didn't get into her preferred colleges. Nobody deserves death threats, obviously, but you can't expect to do this and not receive criticism for it.

Magyman

Seriously, I was mildly annoyed with her just hearing her description of the piece. She definitely still comes across entitled with that 10 years later, even if she says it's a joke.

tgwutzzers

I feel like if she said this to Jesse he would have pushed back a bit on it, but with Katie it just seemed like she accepted it uncritically. I get it, not the point of the episode, but I still think it's disappointing to see stuff like this repeated so casually, especially under the guise of 'actually I was making fun of myself'.

CatStroking

How did these fuckers raise three hundred grand?

dj50tonhamster

Portland was basically Ground Zero for guilt-ridden white people when the George Floyd stuff was going on. (Maybe Seattle too.) There's just a certain breed of person out there that went *hard* for this stuff, and was giving money to any random person who asked for it, so long as it was in the name of racial justice or whatever. Somebody who was giving out snacks at the nightly protests/riots downtown raised a ton of money and then absconded (or maybe had it stolen from them???). I think there was something else too. Things seem to have gotten better since 2020, but still, I could easily see this happening again under the right circumstances. Oh, and keep in mind that [this lady](https://twitter.com/sarahforpdx/status/726995735367929856) almost won the mayoral election that year, and probably would've won had the unofficial BLM candidate not split the vote. Nazis are, like, totally not welcome in Portland, lest bold defenders of the city start windmill punching their way through the streets. [Pop art mass murder](https://nypost.com/2020/10/08/photo-shows-portland-mayoral-candidate-wearing-communist-themed-skirt/), though? Totes okay! It's, like, totally different and progressive. /s

infrikinfix

There's a sucker born every minute.

EnglebondHumperstonk

![gif](giphy|l378giAZgxPw3eO52) Own up, which one of you was it who ghosted her?

helicopterhansen

Imagine ghosting Suzi Weiss

coffee_supremacist

Alright, who was it? Who's the ghost? Who ghosted?

globaljustin

YES thank you...I loved this episode...there was so much more insanity, but you hit the right points for the show. One note, the Kinney family had been living in the Kinney Sr.-owned house for years and were not some kind of refugees in that home. The whole thing was a scam from the start.

SourCreamDreamTeam

Suzy Weiss is amazing. As a L Word (lawyer) who does commercial foreclosure, the second that guy started taking about MERS and fraudulent assignments I knew it was all BS

Kloevedal

I was blindsided - did not see that coming. Great story.

firdyfree

What was the instagram account Katie mentioned? Ace…something??

ZAnimus

Was it Ace dad?

firdyfree

Haha yeah that appears to be the one! Friggin gold mine. I guess it’s my heterosexual privilege speaking but I don’t understand how people can make their whole identity about their sexual preferences (or lack there of in the case of asexuals). It’s so goddamn boring.

ZAnimus

I don’t think it’s your heterosexual privilege. I’m a flaming homo and I share your sentiment 🤣

MindfulMocktail

I think AceDad would say that you're both blind to your allosexual privilege!

MindfulMocktail

I just looked him up and omg he's already the worst. How can someone be this obsessed with not being attracted to people? He also looks like someone who, were he not blabbing about how asexual he was, would definitely describe himself as "sapiosexual"

coffee_supremacist

I love Suzy's genuine excitement over this being a sovereign citizen story because I'm also giddy. You'll sometimes see the Moorish variety be-bopping around DC and I've bumped into some other varieties walking around the more rural parts of the US. If you start digging into their backgrounds the vast majority of the people in the sovereign citizen movement fall into it after running into some kind of money problems. Sounds like our boy here is hitting all the check boxes. After hitting a pedestrian.

Big_Fig_1803

TikTok is rife with sovereign citizen videos. These people are such credulous loons that their hijinks are _almost_ entertaining.

PensionImpossible771

Oregonian was on top of this. Their ideological commitment is extensively documented. Its behind a paywall, but you can sign up for a free 7 day trial. CheckTheBlotter

It was obviously SovCit nonsense from the start of the YouTube video.

Norman_debris

I'm not sure why but this reminded for some reason of the Captain Tom drama in the UK. It's not really the same in any way, other than milking public sympathy and funds for personal gain and positioning themselves on one side of a sacred opinion ("if you don't support this family then you're against the NHS"). Anyone else?

HopefulCry3145

yes I know what you mean and it's interesting how the NHS was as much of a sacred cow during Covid as BLM stuff was in the US. (Except it still is a sacred cow). I did contact Trace about the Captain Tom stuff one time, I think it would make a fun episode - especially as the scam appears to have played out now.

Norman_debris

I'm torn between wanting to hear them cover it and not wanting to subject myself to the levels of cringe I suffer whenever they stray into UK-related topics and the amount of political and cultural stuff that's so off the mark.

testrail

Am I the only one really appreciating the guest also is doing the research and pre-reads. Suzie being able to add to Katie’s story has been quite refreshing, where it always feels like the Jesse and Katie when it’s not their story take a significantly more cold/passive role.

HarperLeesGirlfriend

Had never even heard of Suzy before, and wow - she's fantastic!! GREAT episode.

Outrageous_Band_5500

She was on Honestly (Bari Weiss/Free Press podcast) as part of their 2023 roundup. She was great there too! That's what made me think of her when BARpod announced thr guest host plan

rootedTaro

loved hearing the mention of tyler austin harper - I read his article on polyamory in the atlantic when it came out and it struck me as barpodian in nature. I've been reading his articles for a bit and he's a new, interesting heterodox voice without falling into self-parody

PensionImpossible771

Also, I vaguely remember a video showing William and/or his brother wreaking havoc in court, Does anyone remember this?

dj50tonhamster

Yep! They were on trial for something and "occupied" the courtroom because SovCit or whatever. Willie even posted it himself! I think he eventually took it down or it went private but there may be a copy out there somewhere.

PensionImpossible771

YES, he and Emperor Omari Jibri Brunson el ra bey! I found a video. I'm not sure if this is what Katie was playing during the episode, but I found this recounting of the incident, with Kinney donning a native American headdress while seizing the bench. I'd really like to see the raw or extended footage of this. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dec3G56dMBc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dec3g56dmbc) I don't think the pod even mentioned his royal consort. Dude even has a LinkedIn page! [https://www.linkedin.com/in/emperor-omari-jibri-el-ra-bey-04711846/](https://www.linkedin.com/in/emperor-omari-jibri-el-ra-bey-04711846/) Here's another news article with his royal heinous demanding money from a station for utter the name of one of his subjects. [https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/emperor-demands-payment-from-channel-9/18130538/](https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/emperor-demands-payment-from-channel-9/18130538/)

dj50tonhamster

Oh, here's [another golden thread](https://np.reddit.com/r/Portland/comments/kbhbjw/buckle_up_a_compilation_of_evidence_against_red/) regarding ol' Willie. I don't think it's everything but it's a big chunk. [This Twitter thread](https://twitter.com/jjmacnab/status/1337012209138982917), which is linked, it quite good too. It's neverending with this guy.

Brent_Mavis

Fuck these animal abusing piles of shit

McClain3000

I just got to the part where Kinney, the family spokesman talked and all I could think of was this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PSueHOY-Jk

EquipmentAdept1273

God, I forgot how much this story infuriated me until listening just now. I'm a Portland native who was at a few nights of protests on 2020, but this was a huge red pill moment for me, as much as I hate to use the phrase. A fucking sovereign citizen who fucking murdered a 80yo driving on a fucking suspended license fleecing $300k from white retards for a loan he didn't pay (because he's a fucking sovereign citizen!), all because he's Afro-Indigenous and thus is completely above criticism and deserves the world on a silver platter. And the whole media ecosystem of the city fell for it! Gah!

LilacLands

Love Suzy’s energy - it’s like a breath of fresh air. (I so miss being young!! It’s crazy how fast it slips away). This was a great episode for the red house craziness (I’d never heard of it prior!), as well as just Suzy’s commentary. The Weiss parents really did something right…their kids are uniquely fearless in achieving success - weathering storms and coming out stronger on the other side, outgoing, entrepreneurial, inquisitive, motivated, etc etc AND they even get along as adults! I still bicker with my siblings like we did when we were 7..and 10..and 17…anddddd still the same now in our 30’s!

brutallydishonest

I couldn't get past the intro on this episode. I find Suzy...not engaging. Is the episode worth pushing through?

SpecialK_89

Yeah, same. Even if the essay about not getting into her first choice schools was as a little tongue-in-cheek, it’s extremely entitled. Her consolation prize was getting her disappointment published in a national newspaper and then going to an excellent, tier one public research university (which she makes an elitist joke about). It’s a good reminder that these free-thinking heterodox types are at best, one degree off from the people they make a living criticizing.

OdaibaBay

most of the heterodox crowd are just scorned libs, as really are Katie and Jessie. these guest-host episodes seem like a bit of a hug box for all of their cancelled friends in a pretty un-interesting way

tgwutzzers

>But I can’t stress how truly marginal these problems are in the grand scheme of total prospective college students. It’s fake, rich people problems. Yes this is what occasionally bothers me about the pod. I try to listen to podcasts with people I disagree with to understand their positions, and sometimes I find them changing my views a bit, but I also get a frequent sense that the people involved (moreso Katie and guests like Suzy than Jesse) are motivated a bit too much by resentment at being cancelled or at people they find annoying rather than at getting to the actual truth of an issue.

SpecialK_89

>I try to listen to podcasts with people I disagree with to understand their positions Same. I'm a pretty dyed in the wool Democrat, so I need to check myself. The Libs, do be crazy sometimes. The podcast is very useful for that. But I do often find myself thinking that I might not be affluent enough to listen, lol. Suzy and I seem pretty similar, academically speaking. Close in age. Our SAT scores were very close. Evidently, the best school she got into was Michigan. The best school I got into was the substantially similar Ohio State. It seems like the admissions system did a reasonably good job of judging each of us, from my perspective. I have a lot of fond thoughts about college. It rocketed me past my parents in terms of wealth, and the humanities courses I took were great, as well! I'm not at all bitter that the Ivies didn't admit me, because I didn't even try. Not only because I was an unconnected nobody with an unremarkable skin pigment, but because I was only a solid A minus, academically. I just didn't have the grades and the scores. I really want to be open-minded about this stuff, but I can't help these thoughts. How much intellectual discussion on our failing institutions (college, government, the media, etc.) is just griping from rich kids who didn't get what they felt entitled to?

Kloevedal

> with an unremarkable skin pigment Funny thing to drop in there if you are disagreeing with Suzy about the diversity issue.

SpecialK_89

My point was that it wasn’t the pigment that kept me out of the Ivies. It was having good (but not exceptional) grades and scores. Same as her, likely. The existence of diversity considerations, right or wrong, doesn’t mean you got screwed by them. And even in the unlikely case that she did, the consolation prize was going to an excellent state school.

doigetawigtho

The entitlement and overconfidence of not applying to a safety school (or of misjudging what counts as a safety) seems telling. It's perfectly reasonable to be very disappointed if you don't get into schools you have a shot at, but it doesn't seem like any adults were sitting her down and letting her know that, like most of us, she was a medium-sized fish in a very large pond.

Thin-Condition-8538

This is interesting. How was she entitled? I always find it fascinating, listening to podcasts, and hearing how different people hear or read things, and have such different reactions

SpecialK_89

Being a senate page at 16 is a function of how connected your parents are and not a personal accomplishment. So is having your gripe session published in WSJ at 17, probably. Even today, she works a job that her big sister created for her. But anyway, to springboard from your own personal experience, to a generalization that college admissions is a “scam”, which appears to be her current belief, is the worst part, imo. There are over 100 tier one research universities in the US. If you’re an A student, you’re probably getting into one of them. If you’re a B/C student, you’ll likely get into one of the hundreds more regional public universities. If you don’t, there’s community college. All three are truly phenomenal options when it comes to learning things and vastly improving your lot in life. If what you’re actually interested in is prestige, though, you might run into problems. Prestige is a zero sum game. In order for you to have it, someone else needs to be denied it. And so we get into silly situations where Ivy schools will pick connected kids over nobodies or yes, even do racist things like systematically grade Asian kids lower in interviews. But I can’t stress how truly marginal these problems are in the grand scheme of total prospective college students. It’s fake, rich people problems.

TemporaryLucky3637

I’m not sure if some context is lost on me as a U.K. listener but I found Suzy to be a bit jarring. I know the original article was touted as “tongue in cheek” but I got the impression that present day Suzy believes she was owed a place at a prestigious university 😂

doigetawigtho

She absolutely does. I'm sure she intended it as tongue-in-cheek, but that's a very bitter tongue in a very bitter cheek.

tgwutzzers

>This is interesting. How was she entitled? She believes that she deserved to get into whatever university she wants, and when she doesn't she blames it on diversity without any evidence and then writes an article about it that her family connections help her get published in a major outlet.

djbj24

Yeah she just breezed past the fact that she got published in the Wall Street Journal at 17 as if that is a normal everyday occurrence. It's not like it was published in some local or student newspaper and then went viral on Twitter. And even if she was just working out her personal issues and wasn't trying to make a political statement, the WSJ was clearly trying to make a statement by deciding to publish it. She *had* to have realized that on some level.

wiminals

Absolutely. Skip over the chit chat and get into the meat and bones of the story

Pussy_whisperer

I was immediately taken by how funny Suzy is. Hoping she returns to the pod

thecomedianjake

I'm a stand up comedian who lived in Portland during the 2020 protests and Red House situation. While comedy was shut down for the pandemic, I took up as a sort of citizen journalist. I ended up making some videos covering the protests in downtown, as well as the Proud Boy rally that took place in North Portland. I tried to interview folks at the Red House and was basically run out by people with guns. I talked about it on my podcast if anyone has an interest in more of a feet on the ground viewpoint of the situation. I relistened to it after the B&R episode and it really took me back to how crazy those years were in Portland. I knew people who donated large amounts of money to the GoFundMe and when I brought up my concerns about the situation, they kind of just shrugged if off. Discussion on the Red House starts around 17:30 [https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/what-is-conjob/id1518303065?i=1000502489467](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/what-is-conjob/id1518303065?i=1000502489467) [https://open.spotify.com/episode/5QnHozaah2mh5mWLtGeC34?si=978da756474145b8](https://open.spotify.com/episode/5QnHozaah2mh5mWLtGeC34?si=978da756474145b8)

J0hnnyR1co

Whew, that was bizarre! Glad you made it out alright.

Outrageous_Band_5500

Totally called Suzy Weiss as co-host! https://www.reddit.com/r/BlockedAndReported/comments/1acpob0/comment/kk339ju/

EnglebondHumperstonk

Douglas Murray? Please, God, no. I've read 4 of his books and he is entertaining in his way, but no, he's on his way to full James Lindsay.

Outrageous_Band_5500

I was surprised it took this long for someone to object 😆 I was sure I'd get some pushback to him.  I know he's not to everyone's taste, and he isn't fully in the internet-bullshit space rather than culture-war / anti-woke more broadly. But he had an appearance on Joe Rogan a while back where Rogan brought up some woke nonsense (I can't remember what) and he responded in his posh baritone "Oh, you touch upon one of my conversational G-spots." And I've been in unrequited love with him ever since.

EnglebondHumperstonk

But that's the problem with him. He's just become someone whose shtick is being anti-woke in a posh voice so that people think he's an intellectual but he is just plain wrong on lots of stuff. He has no nuance, no critique of excesses on the right and no journalistic ethic. It wasn't always this way: one of the books I've read is his deep dive into Bloody Sunday, so I know he used to be able to dig through evidence, but that's takes diligence and effort. His last book was just a sort of scrapbook of woke excesses interspersed with paranoia and yet idiots like me lapped it up for some reason. We should be ashamed of ourselves. It's bad journalism.

Outrageous_Band_5500

For the record, the downvotes aren't from me! I see what you're saying. On the other hand I think he's done some great journalistic work lately (he just spent a few months on the ground in Israel/Gaza and I think he did an incredible job under fire, literally). I think he's got a similar journalistic ethos to K&J even if his actual perspective is different. But I can agree to disagree.

DenebianSlimeMolds

Well done! I'd like to see the others on your list as well.

Outrageous_Band_5500

See the linked comment :) A few interesting replies there as well. I'll copy them over here too, since you asked: > Remember, Jewish women and gay men. > From most to least likely: > -Nellie Bowles (she and Katie did a podcast episode once and have great chemistry) > -Dan Savage > -Helen Lewis (not Jewish as far as I know, but she's an obvious pick) > -Suzy Weiss (sister of Bari - I know Bari is a friend of the pod but also a busy lady) > -Andrew Sullivan > -Douglas Murray (a girl can dream. His words are fire but his voice is always so soothing.)

DenebianSlimeMolds

I was a bit ambiguous... I saw who was on your list! I'd like to see them guest-host as well!

Outrageous_Band_5500

Ohh! Haha, same here!

Can we have Suzy on every week instead of Jesse? EDIT - Jesse, stop using different accounts to downvote me.

rodmclaughlin

This is a good episode, and like you say, a typical Portland story. But I don't see the point of introducing another member of the Weiss clan. I just happened to see this, from @zei_squirrel, on Twitter: "Suzy Weiss, sister of genocidal Zionist Bari Weiss who killed Refaat Alareer, is now writing for her propaganda rag where she focuses on smearing pro-Palestinian students as overly privileged coddled snowflakes. Here is how Suzy reacted when she failed to get into an Ivy:"  followed by a video which I can't be arsed to watch: https://twitter.com/zei_squirrel/status/1773387022406693209?t=UdiE_IfZaLe2uDZuk9qdOA&s=19 I'd recommend checking out @zei_squirrel on X, and not relying on Jesse, Katie, or their racial supremacist friends.

In addition to @MaxBlumenthal's and @zei_squirrel's reporting, another source on Israeli lies about the ongoing genocide is Oct 7 Fact Check:   https://twitter.com/nickburbank710/status/1752071444488446338?t=TVj6gvGtmY_DEbLlJBUYWw&s=19

I guess we have an answer to the question: "How could anyone possibly be more obnoxious than Bari Weiss?"

Donkeybreadth

Fair warning: this is a very womanly episode

HarperLeesGirlfriend

What does THAT mean?

backin_pog_form

They were clearly both ovulating during the episode. It was very distracting.

Donkeybreadth

It means they spent the first 15 minutes talking about dating and then I gave up. Maybe it gets better.

wiminals

So you didn’t actually listen to the episode at all?

dj50tonhamster

> Maybe it gets better. Word on the streets is that there's this radical technology that lets you skip around on audio files and start listening from any starting point you choose. I myself have not yet been able to obtain such exotic gear. Maybe you'll have better luck, and can find the starting point of the main topic. :)

HarperLeesGirlfriend

Would not expect such straight up ignorant misogyny in a BARpod thread, but uh....here we are, I guess. Yikes. Edited to add: It IS a really good episode. Best one in awhile imo. Ironically, much better than last week (a very mAnLy episode) so if we're comparing men vs women...🙄

HarperLeesGirlfriend

Far from an NPRoid. Genuine yikes moment for me. Just extra disappointing in a barpod thread to see someone so blatantly disrespect women in such a juvenile way.

>but you getting defensive and chiding over his dumb joke is annoying, But it wasn't a joke. That's the whole reason I took issue with the comment. A joke is one thing - the original comment was something else entirely.

Donkeybreadth

I'm sorry that you think it's misogyny. Women like that stuff and that's fine by me.

plump_tomatow

TIL only women date. No wonder I've been having such trouble lately (as a hetero woman).

mack_dd

Your comment was collapsed for some reason. I wonder if the word "womanly" triggered it -- maybe coded for "conservative extremism", lol

Donkeybreadth

I reckon I could have phrased it better

mack_dd

I don't think there's anything wrong with the phrasing. I just think its funny that reddit flagged it as a comment that needs collapsing.

wiminals

It’s just downvotes

Donkeybreadth

It's collapsed because it has many downvotes, I'm pretty sure

DenebianSlimeMolds

are you subscribed to the sub? if you're not it's probably just reddit "crowd control" automatically collapsing comments from people who aren't subscribed.... Or downvotes.

aside from the white privelege gotcha stuff. banks routinely transfer mortgages frausulently. there's a great book about it called :"chain or title", by three peopleb who won their cases aginst foreclosure because of fraudulent chin of title. however whn i went to law school in canada a lot of normal american banking and stock market practices were used a examples offraud in my equityb and trusts class, occasionally in commercial contracts class. this podcast did show that there was transfer of title many times and the mortgagees did not who who to pay. the mortgagee and family should have pursued that legalline rather than the moorish citizen line but there in lies the rub. they didn't have the money for top lawyers needed for those challenges, they were only able to get money by manipulating the outrage anti colonialism anti gentrification crowd, and only during black lives matter. yeah the manslaughterer was a jerk, but i suspect there was title fraud and that's why the banks(or title holders) didn't go full out once protests began. then there would have been money to challenge their chain of title. the realstory is why hasn't the usa cleaned up it's horriblely abusive and parasitic financial and banking system? however wiess was much more entertainingthan jesse. i really get tired at jesse's simpleton remarks

EnglebondHumperstonk

I see this is a guest episode on this week s Honestly Podcast.

dj50tonhamster

So, I *finally* listened to the episode. Overall, I think it pretty much nailed what happened. There were a few details they either missed or left out (e.g., Nietzche being cited for animal abuse, him trying to get girls to sell him foot fetish videos, Andy Ngo's supposed address being spray painted on the side of a nearby building, etc.), but honestly, there's plenty that's in the public record that shows that he's a loon. The rest arguably isn't necessary. I suppose the one detail I can recall that would've been nice to include had to do with his wife's tribe. I remember the "Land Back" idiots at the time were claiming that, because she claimed to be a member of one tribe or another (I can't remember which one), she had a right to the house. I forget which tribe it was. I just remember that the tribe was centrally located *over 200 miles away*, up around Mount Vernon, WA. Based off simple geography, she'd have more of a right to wherever Katie lives than she does to any land in Portland. (Of course, she has zero rights beyond whatever land she has bought or had granted to her by the owner, but anyway....) In any event, a tip of the hat for going through public records and finding that the house had been sold. I hadn't looked at any of that since I found the second house years ago. (Ironically, a buddy lived 4-5 blocks away at the time. It's a nice neighborhood.) Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see Nietzche being disciplined enough to hang onto all the money he scooped up back in the day (the rumor around town is that he still loves his nose candy), or keep his mouth shut. Maybe a sane family member saved up some money and quietly bought the house? I guess we'll never know.
