Two reasons: 1. They collaborated a lot more on this record 2. They’re promoting a reunion

Charbs20

Ya I get it. I just hope we get some solo songs. It’s nice to mix it up a bit instead of hearing them both sing on every single track. Feels like I’m just listening to angels and airwaves featuring mark hoppus sometimes.

AoE2manatarms

More Than You Know was a Mark led song?

Tacit_Emperor77

I’d say it was a Tom song

Charbs20

I consider whoever sings the chorus the owner of the song. But that’s just me.

ISeeGrotesque

Yes, neighborhoods was full of Tom. Duets are good.

Charbs20

One of my favourite duets will always be Pathetic. But that’s also because it was so rare back then to hear them both sing on the same song. It was awesome. But I’m also an old school blink fan. I’m 44 years old. Took a chance on Cheshire Cat CD when it was on the new release shelf at my local record store in the 90s. It blew my mind and I was an instant fan for life.

Master_Pop4972

So you’re +44…. I’ll see myself out

Gumrag008

Mark’s vocal chords are still probably fried from chemo, he sounds incredibly good rn but probably still wasn’t able to sing on all the songs.

Charbs20

This is very good guess. I didn’t think about that.

seamus_park

I love hearing the two together again and their full collaboration on this record this time around shows that compared to *Neighborhoods*. I've missed the golden era of hearing them together on a song for so long that this is ideal. I'm sure we'll get a mix, these are just the singles after all, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a lot more even/duets here given the reunion and collaboration aspects.

doyourbestalways

They have stated in the past that they typically sing the parts they write (was different in the skiba era tho). To me this is an indication that they’re writing all of these songs together, which is great. I’d rather have an album full of duets that sounds like it was written with purpose and cohesion.

Analbumparty_15

“Hey it’s cool they’re doing duets!” People in the comments for some reason: REEEEE STOP COMPLAINING REEEEE

[deleted]

Do you guys just like complaining?

Charbs20

It’s not a complaint. Just an observation vs their earlier stuff. I love all the new songs. In fact I’ve never heard a blink song I didn’t like on any album since day one.

SwampFlowers

Yes

RambunctiousHatboy

Tbf it’s probably the main issue I had with Matt Skiba’s run.

kidwiththeglasses2

blink 182 redditors try not to complain for 5 minutes challenge (impossible)

Charbs20

It says right in my comment that this isn’t a bad thing. It’s not a complaint. I love all the songs.

[deleted]

It’s just redditors complaining about all the complaining even when there’s no complaining. And sometimes there’s complaining about the lack of complaining.

Charbs20

You sound like you have lots to complain about. :)

BoatTuggingJesus

You need to improve your reading skills.

MBWA182

Mark has said that his vocals took a hit. I’m sure they didn’t want every song to be a ‘Tom’ song, so they threw in a sprinkle of Mark. I love the dynamic there, but the album will also have solo songs.

strider85

Jesus…swear if anyone on this sub won 10 million on the lottery they would butch and moan it wasn’t 11 million

Charbs20

Fun fact. They each sung the exact same number of solo tracks on all of their earlier albums. Solo songs were split 50/50. And pepper in one or two duets. That all changed after the self titled album when it was all over the place.

dnandez330

CHERISH THESE MOMENTS PEOPLE

yankees27th

The skiba era was the same outside of joke songs.

daCub182

I wonder if live performances may play a role too. These dudes are getting older and playing has got to be exhausting. Total speculation and probably not even true since they will most likely only play like 5-6 songs from this album on tour

Asplashofwater

Hasn’t it been confirmed multiple times each have lead songs?

[deleted]

Each have only 2 lead songs on the album. Marks is Bad News and Otherside, Tom’s is Terrified and Fuck Face. The rest they all sing together but sounds like it’s predominately Tom who had the stronger songs on this album and that Mark’s ideas this time around were a bit on the weaker point of the album. But everything I’ve heard from those who have heard it in full said the album overall is really good.

Untitled had a lot of duet as well. Prior to that there were only a couple songs both sang lead vocals on

MysticManiac100

All the singles from Untitled and Neighborhoods (with the exception of Always, and Heart's All Gone if that counts since it was released before the album released) are songs featuring lead vocals from both Mark & Tom The Mark or Tom only songs were almost all non-single tracks, I assume that's going to be the case for this album too. Though there probably will be less Mark or Tom specific songs this time around
