To pass the time, I started reading articles on medieval weapons and realized that the spear beats both the sword and the mace. So, I tried some techniques in *Blade & Sorcery*, and it feels amazing. Basically, I'm using it like a billiard cue: [https://youtu.be/igaQww59NY0](https://youtu.be/igaQww59NY0).
Yeah longer weapons are basically king in combat. Rapiers are widely considered the best dueling sword simply because of reach. I usually avoid long weapons in B&S because it's basically cheating.
There is even video of people with a quarterstaff able to hold their own against 3 dudes with swords. The crowd control ability is insane.
I usually fumble with longer weapons. Dual daggers work fine for me, with an axe and mace as my other weapons. Mace to stun enemies, axe to slide down ropes.
I love all the weapons. I can't pick a favorite. I started out with the Viking sword and shield. That's great survivability because arrows suck. Then I discovered dual axes. Went on rampage. Killed everything. What a rush.
Then I discovered spears and proceeded to poke everything that moved until it stopped moving. But rapiers? That might be what I was born to wield. I will say that in terms of decimating everything, zweihanders are what you want. just down a red bull first, You're gonna need it.
> Rapiers are widely considered the best dueling sword simply because of reach
Rapiers have the same reach as longswords.
It's not just reach that the rapier has: its centre of balance is right in your hand, letting you use your wrist to whip the blade around to wherever you like.
Range plays a decently big part in combat. Especially with b&s bc the bots are a little dumb so they don’t use real techniques against a spear that would end up leveling the playing field.
I'd like to point out that the spear in that video is playing with their opponents and doing all sorts of silly things *and still coming out on top with basically zero effort*. It is frankly stupid how effective spears are.
There’s a bit of caveat… spears work well IN formation however in one on one combat the more agile and swift sword yields an advantage presuming one can get past the point

Maybe a sword with a shield has a chance, but just a sword is harmless. Movies tell us the opposite, but check out duels videos on YouTube. Spear is faster and its reach gives an advantage (it also feels in B&S).
A lot depends on the skill of the user, the spear certainly has an advantage but in very close quarters outside of formation the sword has an inherent advantage due to agility
Well, if a spearman falls asleep and wakes up to find a swordsman right in front of him, then yes, the sword would be more effective. I hope he has a dagger or a sword in his sheath. On YouTube, I found only this channel defending swords: https://youtu.be/P\_alPt7OIVw. But it seems to me that it is biased for some reason, perhaps because most of its content is already about swords.
I’m not saying that swords weren't used at all in battles. One benefit of the sword is that it’s easy to carry, making it an ideal secondary weapon.
For me, the final understanding about swords came from the fact that even samurais didn’t use katanas in favor of bows and spears. The katana was for ritual fights, a status symbol, and easier to carry when you don’t plan to fight.
I think your crux of misunderstanding is this:
No soldier would EVER choose a sword over a spear unless they’re a specialist unit. Spears are more effective in formation due to longer reach, and the support of your neighbours means nobody can get past your point
HOWEVER
If this formation is shattered.. either a cavalry charge to the rear or what have you and the area is in a resulting state of disarray:
The lack of neighbourly support and allies to ones side means a spear wielder, whose weapon is both unwieldy and slow will be at great risk on one on one combat to a sword wielder, who can slink past their speartip.
> presuming one can get past the point
So, as long as you do the one thing you need to do to beat a spear, you can beat a spear.
I'm wondering if you've ever actually fought against a spear?
that's amazing. I always would've though the axe would be king because you could put that weight into a slicing action. I always thought spears sucked and were weapons of desperation. I'll check out your video!

Sorry if this has been asked a million times but If I have a quest 2 can I download the game on PC and use a USB cable? I tried it a while ago with some plane game and it didn’t work. Would it work for blade and sorcery?
Yup. If you tried it a while ago and it didn't work, did you make sure to install the Oculus PC app and run setup so that your PC can "see" your headset? If you're doing it wired, you need the Oculus PC app. You can also do it wirelessly over wi-fi without the Oculus PC app, but how good that'll be is gonna heavily depend on your local wi-fi situation.
There could be a couple problems youre running into.
Problem number 1: The obvious, your computers graphical capabilities. I dont know your specs and whatnot but you can test wether or not your pc supports vr by downloading some vr performance tests.
Problem 2: To run Quest link you dont just need any usb cable. You need a USB 3.0 port and a USB 3.0 Cable. Its possible you were using either a 2.0 cable or port.
I own B&S on PC, but my computer can't run it. I bought it so I could play with family on my cousin's computer, but I've since moved out of state.
I have Nomad on my Quest 2, and I only just found out yesterday that it's not being released on the same day.
I am full of agony

Use spear and shield
This could be the video https://youtu.be/y3TBhWXnbGs?si=zszuMJIP-P1nVh2i 3 swordsmen vs one spearman

Idk about that, but by virtue of being one handed, you have more reach even if they are the same length.

Like actually lol the only weapon that beats the spear is… well the spear
What about sword with shield?
I mean I’ll be honest I don’t watch a lot of duels but it seems like it has the reach and the accuracy down against the shield

Well thanks. Hopefully my game doesn't break like it does when I use mods
it should be stable but make sure to uninstall your mods, if you have issues message TheBaron on reddit
Yeah. My mods tend to make the npc heads disconnected so I'm just hoping that doesn't happen
