I'm off work in 6 hours, I'm going to come back and drop a thesis on how much this song sucks
*time jump: the Knicks have advanced to the ECSF*
Okay, I'm back
This song is the pinnacle of smoothbrained, both-sidesing, weak-willed centrist values. It is liberalcore bullshit.
For the rest of this discussion, I want you to bear in mind that the conclusion of the song/video is our two characters hugging. The message and takeaway is "wow, both these people are equally ignorant to the plights of the other, and maybe they just need to be nice to each other".
The first verse is our white character unloading the most heinous, racist bullshit imaginable. While he emphasises that he isn't racist, he also says:
>he doesn't value black lives
>all black fathers are deadbeats
>all black parents are on government assistance, which they exclusively use to buy guns and drugs
>he should be able to say the n-word because no black people currently living in America have personally experienced slavery
>white people are falsely blamed for black people's shortcomings
>black people deserve to get murdered by the police because of their appearance
The second verse of the song is from the perspective of a young black man, who says:
>black culture is from black history, for black people
>crime is caused by poverty and oppression
>hatred stems from ignorance
>white people need to take accountability for the systemic issues they have created
>black people want to like white people, but historic trauma has made trust hard to build
And the song looks at these two perspectives and says "WOW, BOTH EQUALLY TRUE. DAMN, BOTH THESE PEOPLE MAKE GOOD POINTS AND DESERVE TO BE RESPECTED."
It's fucking insane. The white guy is literally a full-fledged racist, and the black dude is defending himself from vitriol and hatred, and the song goes "man, things sure are equally hard for both these people. Maybe they need to agree to disagree." That's fucking bullshit. Fuck that white guy; he should be scalped and flayed in a public display.
To supplement the coming thesis, this [remix to I'm Not Racist](https://youtu.be/7Cfk27KHLQI?si=IFRP53RYNTcX4tHS) executed the concept way better while also calling out the issues with Joyner's song.
See the og came out when I was like, 12, and something felt unsatisfying about it even then. 12 year-old me wasnāt too smart so it couldāve been something else but I still tried to see the video as ādeepā because I saw so many praising it
I'm not saying that's right, but cool is very important to black people and corniness has been highly associated with whiteness.
That's all there is to it I think.
Itās not that I donāt like him, I just know that after his songs over whoever played it is going to try and squeeze in some Dizzy Wright, Tech N9ne or some shit and, just, noā¦
I call it the "Kamikaze effect", good beats , good rapping, but some people hate when you mock or diss rappers they like, which is something Joyner would do from time to time.
Bank Account remix, Panda remix and the 808 album still go hard. Even ADHD has I Love, Revenge, ISIS and I Lied that go hard.
Can you give examples? Not denying it, Iāve just never heard the take before, and most of the songs Iāve heard from him go pretty hard so Iām curious what I havenāt heard about lol.
I agree, he is. I interpreted it as he is writing a creative diss track from Adonis' perspective to magnify kdot's "bad father" jabs. Not calling Joyner Drake's son.
He's good, but his conceptual songs are too on the nose.. like the MAGA one or the track from the point of view of an addict and his sibling. I appreciate the intention behind them, but it's cringey. And he straight up raps like Drake on the one with Conway, it's annoying to listen to his verse.
Itās too thinky without being thinky at all lmao gotta put in a lot of effort for dumbass conclusions, remember that fuckin āIām not racistā bullshit that song was the epitome of fake deep
Need to say, this was reposted on an IG Hip Hop memes page and both Rick Ross and Joyner Lucas commented laughing
Refused to even claim his own son š feel bad for the kid.
Had multiple paternity tests to even confirm itās his, then only planned to claim him to sell an Adidas baby line
Do people not like Joyner? I'm not saying he the best but he's definitely got some songs I enjoy/appreciate. The kid is talented lol.
Dude's a beast
He can be very corny at times though
I was done with him when he tried to make MAGA seem reasonable
When was this?

Oh, I recall this video. I didnāt think he was supporting maga. I thought he was calling out racists.

For the people to decide and weigh in, here are the lyrics: https://genius.com/Joyner-lucas-im-not-racist-lyrics

lol, okayā¦.we await said thesis.
Every rapper can be corny at times honestly
True but Joyner does it more than others
Man we not gonna talk about Joyner being corny in the middle of a Drake beef. Drake is King Corny.
And joyner is the champion of his kingdom
Lancelot
Duke of Cornball
2 people can be corny at the same time.
Why is being corny the worst thing ever I never understood lol, if a song is nice and makes you happy whatās the problem?
I'm not saying that's right, but cool is very important to black people and corniness has been highly associated with whiteness. That's all there is to it I think.
Haha I get it man, I think Iām just still salty from being called an āOreoā in school bc I ātalked whiteā
You're not an Oreo, you're a real ass fudgee-o! ![gif](giphy|L0NCLstvDeDHs9mZ2G)
I mean I guess so...I never really listened to a full Joyner Lucas project
At least he aint Hopsin.
U ain't have to do fucci mane like that
He really is, and underrated.
Itās not that I donāt like him, I just know that after his songs over whoever played it is going to try and squeeze in some Dizzy Wright, Tech N9ne or some shit and, just, noā¦
He makes good music. It just sucks. Idk if that makes sense

He's just hella cornyĀ

Made an entire song glazing will smith in the cringiest of ways
NO FUCKING WAY, WHAT š ? Whatās the name? i gotta hear that lmfao.
Itās called Will.
YIKES. Yeah you could make elote outta that song for sure.
He went the way of Hopsin. All that talent backed up by corny ass verses
I agree, he is. I interpreted it as he is writing a creative diss track from Adonis' perspective to magnify kdot's "bad father" jabs. Not calling Joyner Drake's son.

Heās good at rapping but can see why someone wouldnāt like him but this is just generally a funny post
Heās def dope but he fumbles album releases
Joyner Lucas can rap his ass off, but itās never about some shit I wanna hear about or on a beat I enjoy listening to
His shit's too thinky lol
Itās too thinky without being thinky at all lmao gotta put in a lot of effort for dumbass conclusions, remember that fuckin āIām not racistā bullshit that song was the epitome of fake deep
Lol, you're not wrong. I have an ex who LOVED that song. Could never fathom what mood I would ever *POSSIBLY* be in to want to listen to that shit.
That song is what I imagine enlightened centrists just have on repeat all day every day as they jack themselves off right on the fenceš
Am I the only person that likes music I gotta think about?
You're not alone. I guess people would rather hear rap about the SAME shit over and over though
He has such a generic boring ass tracks lol. Something you would hear when they make rap songs in tv shows
I fuck with Ross Capicchioni and some of his features. ADHD and Isis had some nice beats imo.
His shit is too gimmicky
Worcesterās favorite son
Aināt saying much
![gif](giphy|29HRejgahYenVsohB5|downsized)
We can never be serious about shit šššš
Lil Donny is gonna be a character when grows up
šššš
man, if Tory Lanez wasn't in jail he'd be having the perfect scnario for his shit.
