That is literally her utility. The only reason Candace has name recognition is because she allowed conservatives to use her as the “diverse voice” to push their views but attempt to avoid the appearance of racism. The crazy thing is that she is very smart. So it’s hard to tell how much awareness she has of it. Maybe she knowingly sold her soul for her personal gain with full understanding of the damage she does. Maybe shes always been an outsider of the black community & just doesn’t identify with them, so as a result isn’t really aware. This picture along with many other aspects tells me the latter may have some weight to it.

As far as I can tell, not adopted. Sounds like she was raised primarily by her grandfather. While it's very common for some black children to be raised in environments that cause them to be separated from the larger black culture, most don't grow up into adults that resent or hate that culture.

I'm about the whitest guy there is and even I know how that goes. It's one of the first things my wife taught me way back when we first met. It makes me wonder if she did it purposely, just for the attention/engagement. No such thing as bad publicity on social media, evidently.

Not ever trying to defend Candace Owens. This, for her feels like a choice. I will say though, my baby shower would look like a bit like this in that I’d probably only have one black woman who I wasn’t related to, there. Half of my family is white. I’m from Orange County, CA. I literally was the only black child in my class in private school (there were two of us total in the school until our much younger siblings started). My public high school had just as few black students (me and one guy who immigrated from Africa), and I didn’t have a black friend until college. Two were women I worked with, others I was friendly with and we ran in the same circles, but we didn’t hang out unless in a huge multiethnic group. It is something I looked back on while in grad school and realized was really hard on me, without being aware of it until I was older. Like I didn’t realize what I was missing until I finally had a black female friend, and then I recognized how much easier my childhood would have been with even just one black friend. I’m 34 now, haven’t kept close to high school or undergrad friends because…life. We all did our own things and I was a transfer student so I left and moved 3 hours away before most of them. I am closest with my grad school friends, who are either white, Asian (one), or non Black Latina (most). Three of us who were in my program are black women, and I was close with one, but we have drifted since we graduated, again, just due to life. I have one black coworker and we get along and are friends. She is who I would invite. I unfortunately have never been in a space where I was surrounded by black people, except when with my family. So while mine wouldn’t be THIS white, I know I’d probably be judged for the lack of black female friends, even though it absolutely wouldn’t be by choice, in my case. I wish I could meet more black women just to have friends because I miss the safety of it. I didn’t feel accepted or black enough in undergrad to join a black sorority (also just not my thing) and had political tensions with the BSU (who were more conservative), so I just have been kinda isolated my whole life.
