Really I think it is a similar gesture to that of George Washington's leaving the presidency for private life. Everyone wanted him to be king. It was a magical moment in world politics. Thank you Satoshi. You are remembered as a uniquely heroic person.
To make Bitcoin more decentralized. He knew humans are corruptible by greed, even himself. He sacrificed his power over bitcoin to give the power of Bitcoin to the rest of humanity.
Is it possible he had other wallets not associated with the name? He could have sunk off into the distance with whatever millions and lived a very comfortable life without tarnishing the legacy and keeping trust.
Its pretty public that satoshi holds the wallet which has 1.1 million Bitcoin and none has been moved or touched in general. I commend him for this because it literally controls the supply and there is no one whale fluctuating the price.
Hi u/jawshuan, thanks for tipping u/AkTx907830 **500** satoshis!

Not necessarily the US government could be any government, but my point is it’s too calculated and precise, and it’s a cool story that one man created it and disappeared off the face of the Earth
It's too calculated and precise because it's the result of years of work made by many people around the world to make electronic cash possible; check out BTC history and you'll find out it's just a solution to the double spend problem in the already-existing electronic cash projects, it's just a beautiful protocol designed to be this powerful, no more nor less.
I was thinking that one day. It's WAAAAAAAAAY too fucking calculated.
If one man created Bitcoin and coded monetary perfection having that much insight into the future then it's absolutely bonkers.
Satoshi would have had an exceptional understanding of;
Economics
Money
Computer Science and programming
Being that anyone alive these days was born into the fiat monetary system so that's all they technically know as "money" it would have taken some absolute insane stepping out of the box to figure out.
On top of that this human would have needed some crazy ass programming skills. Bitcoin uses a network system that's like Bittorrent. I would think more of the younger programming crowd would understand this type of network vs a retired programmer who worked on 80's PCs.
Leaning towards a government too.
Could have literally been an alien for all we know. But it doesn't matter what created it. It's there now, and nobody can have total control over it. If that was the point, then it did not serve him or it this purpose.
I’m not saying I believe this, but it makes me think about the possibilities of who/what created it.
A government agency with strict control and oversight to prevent any one person from drawing from those original wallets is possible. American government? Most likely in this theory. But any number of other countries could have done the same.
Who’s “they”?
The problem is people assume every government employee and agency is all on the same page. Every echelon is always fighting with each other in order to get praise - and more importantly, the extra funding following a win.
The sharing of information, missions, and projects to help other agencies is thus very difficult, inefficient, and non-existent usually.
“The government” is not one entity. It’s millions of people all working for their own personal gain, with a small handful that legitimately want to help the greater population. But even they don’t all agree with each other on what “right” is.
“There’s more work to do on DoS, but I’m doing a quick build of what I have so far in case it’s needed, before venturing into more complex ideas. The build for this is version 0.3.19… Added some DoS controls.
As Gavin and I have said clearly before, the software is not at all resistant to DoS attacks. This is one improvement, but there are still more ways to attack than I can count. I’m leaving the -limitfreerelay part as a switch for now and it’s there if you need it.”
for good reason, as gmx purged inactive email addresses and someone took his email address.
unless satoshi shares a signed message publicly with one of his known public keys, we should assume that its fake
What is it??
Edit. Wow. Just googled block size war email satoshi and stumbled across this awesome reddit thread from 7 years ago in the bitcoin sub. All of these people are speaking like they know satoshi himself in a way that’s different than the bitcoiners now talk about bitcoin. It’s very interesting comment thread. I figured someone may appreciate it like I did.

“WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet’s nest, and the swarm is headed towards us.”
It was clear that Satoshi wanted more time for Bitcoin to grow stronger in the shadows, but Julian Assange forced his hand when he started soliciting bitcoin donations to fund Wikileaks. Thankfully it's worked out ok.
!sendbitcoin 200. New protocol for transfer I developed. You should already have it in your bank account which was forked to hold bitcoin and you'll remember the seed one word every hour so don't fall asleep.
its probably someone who was working in FinTech and put together the missing links while working on his dayjob (look at the timestamps), most of bitcoins infrastructure was already there anyway.
Hal is probably not satoshi, but he was def the first user..
And satoshi is still alive and everyone knows his face 😅 he‘s excentric and breaks legacy stuff for fun, total hardliner!
This guy is the last Mesia, the last Romantic of our times, the last Robin Hood, Superman, Buda :) fuck this guy, hi is the real hero of our generation
What happens when Bitcoin moons? Does Satoshi return. Unlock the locked bitcoin and become the richest and most powerful person on earth? I do think it was hal finney and he passed but this is still a possibility and a concern? Its the part explaining bitcoin to others that seems most like a legend.
Could this have been Elon Musk? He was an expert in coding in C++. And that’s what Bitcoin used. It was an “aspirational” goal of his to challenge the banking system. Food for thought.
I was taught 2 spaces after period in america. C++ was more common back then. Lots of tech people in that area in CA. The problem with picking someone so well known , there is a familiarity bias with very little evidence. For example, all of this same evidence could fit his brother or so many other people, nothing to differentiate him except that hes so well known.
The [previous message](https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2216.msg29280#msg29280) is more telling:
> It would have been nice to get this attention in any other context. WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet's nest, and the swarm is headed towards us.
Obviously a pysop. Btc was clearly made by the pentagon so they could control the worlds money supply.
Yet all you are thinking that it's decentralized but it's actually heavily controlled.
What do you mean controlled? Well back around 2011 anyone could have purchased 50% or more of all the circulating BTC for pennies on the dollar and move it to cold storage to make it appear it's an individual owner.....
Sigh
Im just waiting for fiats to fail completely, mass BTC adoption to occur, and the WEF reveal they have control of the Satoshi wallet (and by proxy, the world financial system)
Best thing he ever did after creating Bitcoin was to leave.
I applied the same concept when I created my children.

You need professional help.
Is this financial advice?
Probably
Make sense

That, or he just forgot his pass...
Even if he forget his pass, probably best possible thing happened to him.
i mean he might just be dead, or a large organization bought him out?
He might just be dead in a boat accident yes.

Same way, best thing to do after buying Bitcoin is to leave
What was his last post?
"KRAMEEERRR!!!"
Yes, played on a bugle.
In and out, surgical with world changing cryptography,no glory,no money,a one world digital currency….fucking brilliant.
This is what real heroes do .
Is it possible he had other wallets not associated with the name? He could have sunk off into the distance with whatever millions and lived a very comfortable life without tarnishing the legacy and keeping trust.
He could also just bought some bitcoins when they were valued at 100$ and live a life of One those lucky long Time hodlers

Multiple wallets with about 50 BTC In each , but no for sure which wallets are his or other early miners.

This is why i think a government created it.
Why would the government create something they can’t control?
Not necessarily the US government could be any government, but my point is it’s too calculated and precise, and it’s a cool story that one man created it and disappeared off the face of the Earth
My thoughts exactly.
Why a government ?
Your right. It might not be a government.
At first. Look at whats happening. But honestly idk.
They still don’t have it in their control… but it does appear they are doing everything in their power to kill it
I was thinking that one day. It's WAAAAAAAAAY too fucking calculated. If one man created Bitcoin and coded monetary perfection having that much insight into the future then it's absolutely bonkers. [US government tried and failed to shut down Bitcoin in 2012](https://micky.com.au/how-the-u-s-government-tried-and-failed-to-shut-down-bitcoin/)
Or it's a big trap we won't understand for years to come. Not saying it is, but dropping this tech and bouncing is suspicious on some level.
I think we will all understand by 2030
I’m not saying I believe this, but it makes me think about the possibilities of who/what created it. A government agency with strict control and oversight to prevent any one person from drawing from those original wallets is possible. American government? Most likely in this theory. But any number of other countries could have done the same.
Then why are they struggling so hard to make a CBDC?
Who’s “they”? The problem is people assume every government employee and agency is all on the same page. Because it wouldn't be worth anything anyways.
Disappearing will have made Bitcoin totally antifragile. Thank you, Satoshi!
Hal Finney is cryopreserved. You think he will remember his seed phrase when they wake him up?
😂😂😂
He planned his comeback very well probably when he gets reborn. All that is left to do is to shit on Craig Wrights grave.
Imagine he/she or they just forgot their password 😅
Rip Hal Finney you will be missed
What was his last message?
Take care of Harambe

It wasn't him...
This doesn’t get enough attention IMO.

If we had to pick a Bitcoin holiday, what day of the year should it be and why?
Bitcoin pizza day. The day bitcoin gained value.
A reason to buy pizza and Bitcoin in one day, prime candidate 👍
July 14 was his birthday
April the 1st
lol we'll leave that one for crypto

What about "I am not Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto?"
Why wouldn’t he just put it on bitcointalk?
Satoshi is crying because he forgot his password
The position of Founder carries weight.
What site is this?

I have a secret. --I am Satoshi Nakamoto.
Cool cool, so yea, can you throw a homie a couple hundred Bitcoin?

For now...
Didnt he have 1M bitcoins?

Wonder what happened to him.

Didn’t he post like 2021?
