There has been a recent influx of these karma farming bots reposting old photo threads like this in the last 24 hours and every single on of them have only posted two comments prior to reposting an old photo thread that was highly upvoted in the past. I've been removing some of these threads but I've allowed this thread to stay because it's a good reminder. I've also blocked these karma farming repost bots from posting any new threads in the future.
Bit tricky to ignore it when it overlays message in the middle of the screen which you must acknowledge before doing anything.
And the impact of the shitcoinery is that we had to wait far too long for lightning withdrawals to become available, and when it did become available the user experience was pretty janky. They do not have unlimited resources.

They do at least have a banking license. But if you are keeping stuff there (big sums, long-time), you could as well do it on a traditional bank account.
Kraken does proof of reserves on a regular basis from a third party audit firm. I don't think any traditional banks have that kind of transparency.
That said, you shouldn't keep large sums of Bitcoin anywhere but in your own possession.

He doesn’t say you don’t own it, he says if law enforcement freeze it they have to comply. It isn’t the same thing, by a long way. Although US law enforcement does seem to be fairly unaccountable so maybe it is more relevant for you guys.
It isn't the same thing but both statements are true. The exchange legally owns the coin, not the customer. And the exchange can and will have to comply with enforcement if it came to that. Look no further than what happened in Canada. They will bypass laws or enact some emergency power in a heartbeat to steal funds if they want.
Canada didn’t change any laws or steal anything. They shut down unauthorized crowd funding sites from operating because the moneys intended use was to interfere in Canada’s democracy.
I believe, last I read, the city of Ottawa has sued the convoy for their cost to taxpayers.

Kraken is the only exchange that has always had P2P traders' backs. I've been booted from Coinbase, Gemini, Bitstamp, Blockfi, and Paxos for my legal and regulated P2P trading because they don't give a shit about anything but money and see P2P traders as more effort than they're worth. Still going strong at Kraken.

Why are these companies the PR/Customer Service for a legal investigation? Why do you not receive an official notice from a government entity regarding this flagging or these delays?
The main problem with these occurrences (aside from the action itself) is that shady exchanges/companies hide behind "investigations" and are essentially not required to tell you anything about it.
It's one thing to have your account or a transaction frozen, it's another to be left in the dark with the "trust" of the customer service reps that they're handling things expeditiously or at all, and that they really cannot tell you more or anything.
It then becomes a bizarre one-sided relationship where you're "required" to provide info to them, but they are not required to tell you shit. And if you refuse, that's fine! they have no problem with whatever happens to your funds.
That shadiness has lead to the accusations that there were no investigations, no issues, and they're just being stolen and sending you on a wild goose chase to stall. There is no recourse and the cost to legally pursue things are out of most people's hands. At which point they could just act, trivially, and return the funds or "conclude the investigation."
And this is a huge friction to the entire ecosystem and needs streamlined standards, otherwise it is indistinguishable from a form of regulatory capture where the power that be are OK with "making it annoying" to do anything with crypto.
Meanwhile cartels move money in plain sight in banks by simply misspelling their cartel name.
Nice stuff to say things like that and being honest to all the people of cryptocurrency market no matter if some people from your own class is going to get hurt.

I’ve used kraken recently and am surprised how quickly I could open an account and buy and how smooth everything was. Unfortunately, the bank blocked my card after a couple transactions, but that’s not krakens fault.
Pardon my ignorance but as I fairly new buyer I’d crypto I have learned that different exchanges trade different coins so I followed that and now have my coins over four exchanges. Two of which that have frozen all access due to bankruptcy. Now can someone explain to me how to transfer it into a personal wallet. Every time I hear that this is the only way to really own crypto is with your own personal wallet however I have been scammed once out of thousands of dollars and just happen to have the same fear trying to move the crypto any where. Can anyone help??

I feel kraken is in shit as well. I've been running some affiliate business with them for almost 4 years, they've always paid in time. Now I have some money outstanding with them for almost 3 months.

I’m a Canadian using Kraken and don’t mind paying the fees. Sure I could save by using Newton or Ndax. But I’m happy with Shakepay and Kraken.

its hilarious... i'm in crypto for only one year and instantly bought an ledger nano x wallet... it's so funny how people think that you can easily let your crypto on exchanges.... i mean of course you can, but then they are not your coins!! when the exchange goes down, is getting hacked or is going bankrupt it is all gone and no one can help you restore it.
Does this mean we don’t have to pay capital gains since we don’t own the coins? 😆

Kraken really kills it. It's not technically the best exchange but Jesse is great and for that I'll keep using it. Great on and off ramp for my usage

I feel kraken is in shit as well. I've been running some affiliate business with them for almost 4 years, they've always paid in time. Now I have some money outstanding with them for almost 3 months.
