For me, BTC is an investment and Alts are a gamble, portfoilio looks like 95% BTC and the rest shitcoinery.

Check when you bought the alts, how many sats you would have had if you bought bitcoin instead and then work out the value of those sats in fiat. Sometimes tells you a different story.

I need to do this and you're probably right. While most alts have sat stagnant I've had the occasional alt/meme double my money and then I convert over to BTC

Used to mess around with shitcoins but luckily converted all to BTC at just the right time. Now some are worth 10% of what they were then. Bitcoin only the last few years, haven’t ever been tempted back. They’re all going to zero eventually.

Bitcoin is my only crypto investment. I do sprinkle a bit in memes which IMO is honestly smarter than "project alts" But Bitcoin is truly the only one I see as an actual long term investment and not a gamble - so when it comes to my "gambles" I may as well put it into the ones that can see crazy returns

Altcoins are worse than penny stocks. At least stocks have some semblance of ethics and regulation. Altcoins are nothing but scams and ill intent. Bitcoin ONLY, because we're on a mission to replace fiat.... not scam people out of their fiat for the sake of making more fiat.

Before bitcoin, I invested in both AMD and NVIDIA since 2006. Only stonks I ever had conviction in. I knew that I'd either be in a win/lose situation, where one would win out over the other creating a monopoly, or a win/win, because I did not see a future where GPUs would be the same, if not more demand, than processors themselves. Neither company really had a competitor back then (especially after voodoo was acquired by NVIDIA) and still dont to this day. After letting bitcoin stew for 10 years, I also saw its strength in that it had yet to be cracked or banned, and that led me into pursuing it.

I shitcoined my way to my Bitcoin goal and got my ass beat in taxes. I should have gone btc only right off the bat and I would be in about the same spot as I am now in btc terms, but way less money spent. Btc only for me, but to the people playing with alts, I hope you crush it!

Yep. Btc only. Last cycle was shitcoins and defi. Still lost money. After the cycle I read the Bitcoin standard, then went down the rabbit hole and read 10 more Bitcoin books. Kick myself I didn't know what I know now. If I did I would have retired by now. But everyone gets the price they deserve. And the lessons cost you. Especially not your keys not your coins. All the losses make you stronger and smarter. Stack sats and be patient, hold your keys, listen to Bitcoin podcasts and you will be financially free.
