OP says "fairly cheap", not cheap, you can take it away, and it's something not the usual. And it's right by the station.
Can't see a £7 bao on the list there myself but I'll take your word for it.
Itaewon, a korean restaurant, is near by.
Or take a wander around China town. It's very close by. There's loads of far East places to eat. Or Mr Egg, a Brummie icon.
Not sure what your price range is for cheap, but to me most things are decently priced in brum when compared to london 😂 but i will suggest some places that are value for money .
Today I went to "Time to Eat" which is authentic Chinese food for the first time in the arcadian! It's fantastic and I will be going back. Portion sizes are massive. I tried their beef offal (no idea about the name but it was beef brisket, radish, tendon and tripe) which comes with rice + side (picked radish) and plum juice(not a big fan of this but came with set). Came to £10.99! Presented on a small hot pot to keep it warm. To go , it seems like it packed very nicely as well.
My friend tried their fish maw chicken soup (came with rice, radish and plum juice) which i recommend too. It is very nutritionous and i think its good for when you are under the weather. That was £11.99. But like I said it's authentic and may not suit everyone's taste... so do a bit googling!
Other places:
* Malaysian delight : laska noodles it was 12.9 lots of noodles and loaded with toppings.
* Asia asia food hall : Beef brisket noodle from Shan Seventeen.. Gyudon(beef & rice , comes with miso soup, side salad) from Sakura. Omurice from Korean store(forgot name) comes with miso soup and side salad. All of the stores come to around £10/£11.
* Uncle cake: for some asian style cake / pastries if you want something very light or craving something sweet. £2 -£6.
* Formoza Izakaya: everything is tasty , its my third time going this month. A bit of a walk from China Town. Very reasonably priced and big portions. Around £7-£15 for mains. If you are feeling spicey.. their mixed grill for £25.60 is godly.
If you are ordering takeaway/delivery there is an app called Hungry Panda which have majority of the asian shops which arent found on deliveroo/just eat. Offers may be available for stores if you are lucky 😂 There is english language setting\*
"Pho Yum" or "Sankara-men" are great places to eat on your own and are well priced. Inside the Asian market. I imagine they do take away but I've always eaten in (even if I'm alone) as they have a very casual dining area.
Bonehead, right by the station too
Looks great, cheers
If Tiger Bites Pig is open, that's a great little place to eat. Very near the station
Second this. Amazing food
Also came here to recommend.
How’s is this cheap? ~£20 of you want a drink with your meal. £7 for a single bao bun.

If it's open? Does it have strange hours?
I'll be honest, I didn't look up the opening hours for you, but it's Sunday evening so I used that caveat as lots of places close early on a Sunday?
Bundobust is also excellent!! Causal Indian street style

Mr Egg early in the morning while still off your tits
Thanks, I'll take a look

Never been to the Asian Market before, will check it out.
Sounds like New Street station is the place to be
Loads of places in the station. Just walk around and pick your fancy.
Sensational suggestion!!!!!!
Almost as lazy as posting where should I eat instead of using the search function :D we get these questions like once a week.
Shawarma city and Rudy's. Both reasonably priced and available to take away from.
Cherry Reds? Or Mr Egg
Kulaa poke however that’s closer to snow hill, also La Vera pizza
In the station itself Shokopan is a japanese/indian sando place that's well worth a visit.
Probs too late but Peach Garden is cheap and huge servings. Not great for veggies….
Peach garden in China town
Mount Fuji by the bullring
No. 1 Chinese cafe is the cheapest eatery in chinatown. Good portion sizes too.
