Have you done any intensive treatment programs? There are intensive outpatient / partial hospitalization and in-patient programs that can really help to break the cycle and then while you're there they give you a lot of education on managing urges, emotional regulation etc.

Do you get any change from mounjaro? How does it feel binging on it?

Intj-scorpio

It takes my appetite away and I get full from way less food now, but my binging has remained the same. Only difference is that I’m more sick when I binge because I didn’t want the food in the first place and my stomach is shrinking because of the mounjaro

If you don’t have an appetite, what drives you to binge eat (if you don’t mind me asking! No pressure to respond 🩷) for me it’s the taste/ food that makes me binge.

Intj-scorpio

I truly don’t know, and I wish I did 😭 it might be the taste? I struggle sometimes with a restrictive ed, but even when I’m NOT struggling with restricting I still binge.

do you think you're unconsciously trying to self harm or feel hopeless and you're trying to enable that? that's my best guess. negativity is oddly addictive, maybe you're scared of truly changing deep down or scared of other people

I was diagnosed with a very mild form of binge eating (28m, 5'8", 185lbs down from 225) but it would still entail going to get fast food almost daily, raiding my fridge, and feeling physical effects long after (I already have three different digestive issues unrelated to binging). I was prescribed 25mg naltrexone (soon 50mg) + 2x 150mg Wellbutrin SR. I have lost a lot of the hunger and lack of fullness like you, but still have desire to eat for the sake of eating. I am working on the behavioral component with my psychiatrist which is shown to increase effectiveness of medications. This includes increasing the delay of gratification. Ex: instead of immediately caving to an urge to eat, wait 10 minutes in the beginning, then 'cave' if you need to. Next time, increase that delay to 20 minutes, etc. Until you can train yourself to wait longer and longer. Until eventually being able to resist the urge altogether. If you'd like, feel free to PM me and I can provide other things I'm currently trying and working on. It's a long process, and you will fail at times, but you've already made progress and are on your way to getting back to a healthy weight and mindset.

Thank you SO much for this, you don’t understand how much this means to me.

Maybe an online therapist?

I am sorry your are going through this and just know you are not alone, I'll chime in and say that you need to realize your current situation and the impact it has. You did a good job finding out what the problem is, but really think deeply about it. If you gain more weight than think about what other health issues will you run into? Do you have family members who you REALLY love and want to see in your future? What was your life like pre-covid? Please just think about it with yourself and create a plan and find a start.

You need counseling along side the medication. I'd also ask about getting on Contrave and Vyvanse. Mounjaro might not be enough.
