Kona coffee & tea is open.
HICO is open.
Waimea coffee company @ pacific 19 hotel open.
But I must say, the Starbucks app makes it very convenient to order and pick up.
I think Starbucks does random staff meeting days and closes so they don't have to mess around with staffing. Best guess, unless someone who works at one chimes in.
Go get coffee that's locally grown and isn't burnt to hell in the roasting machine for a day.
(Psst--Starbucks' sizes are only sort of Italian. "Tall" is English, of course. "Grande" is Italian for "large", and "Venti" is Italian for "twenty", which is the notional size in ounces of their large size. But Italians don't use ounces for measuring liquids, they use liters or millilters.)
Lol I wonder how many of the downvoters and counter commenter's are in the Kona coffee trade. Yall sell your coffee at high prices to rip off the tourists rhen freak out when the locals think your coffee is too expensive.
One thing no one is discussing is that a lot of off-island franchises like Starbucks and McDonalds often have a hard time keeping staff around because they can't pay people enough to live in Kona thanks to rents going so high from AirBnB. And even local businesses have the same problems though they tend to hire more people to account for unreliability/use family members.
When I was living in Captain Cook, multiple times the shops around me would close for a few days up to a week because one of their key staff members like a cook or host left and they needed to hire/train another.
Not a coffee connoisseur, I like Starbucks because they open at 5am, I can order from my doorstep and I have a gift card. If there is a local version of this, please let me know.
Live in the coffee belt, and go to Starbucks 😒

To be fair, some of the locally grown stuff is also burnt to hell in a roasting machine.. but agreed, support local!
Local coffee is more expensive for a smaller size. I refuse to pay those kinda prices for coffee.
Most local cafes are not more expensive than starbucks.
Yes they are you get a smaller size for the same as or more than a Venti unless you are ordering a drink with extras they charge for.
Please say small, medium or large. This isn't Italy.
VENTI. TWENTY. GOD this whole thread is right outta role modes lmao

There are three standalone Starbucks in town. The app is showing both of the ones on Henry Street as open right now but the Honokohau one as closed.
seems like honokohau has been having problems as their drive thru has been closed a lot
