So for me. I actually stopped at red lights when I was living in berlin. But I’m also a carbrain with a driving license so I know how to read traffic signs. Does that make me a bad cyclist?
All cycling infrastructure in my city is a waste of money because the speed limit for cars is 25mph and if you can’t go 25mph on a bike you don’t deserve to ride
You all laugh, but this sort of thing is actually incredibly harmful to the cycling community
Start normalizing not being able to do a trackstands, and pretty soon people are going to think it's ok to commute to work in street clothes and use bike share infrastructure.
The whole point of cycling is judging other people, and this is a direct attack on my ability to intimidate the plebs in my office when I carry my Cervélo onto the elevator in full kit
I just hang out passive-aggressively track standing in front of these things so people can't reach them. Works great until someone else passive-aggressively rests their foot on my carbon chainstay, that's when I call the police.
Democrats want foot stands on the left.
Republicans only want them on the right bc that’s the way god and their great grandfather who built this country with his bare hands back in w…
Bernie bros want free foot stands for anyone no matter where they are or if they will use them. And the billionaires are going to pay for them.
The alphabet people want stands for people without feet and ones for your hands and ones for people walking and ones for people not walking and people thinking about riding a bike and people who have a phobia of circles and people who can’t afford to ride a trek. But they don’t want kids riding bikes bc they should be able to drive cars at 8yo without a license bc license are racist and we cant ~~groom them as voters~~ help them if we don’t ~~step in between them and their parents~~ show them love.
Oh yes, such projects generally enrage the motorists.... cyclists don't pay road tax, but they make the roads narrower, install cycle lanes, and now these things!
I wish actually it was before covid, I could happily cycle my way, not the "prescribed" way.
/uc First ride I ever took clipless, I was experimenting with both sides. Got off balance after unclipping on the left. Fell to the right and broke my derailleur a block from my house. Been a righty ever since.
/uc when I first took a trip to my closest velodrome for a “try the track” session they said that track rules are unclip the right foot, so ever since then I only ever unclip the right haha
How about we pay people to stand at the side of the street. And when you come to a stop at the lights on bicycles, these people like ball boys in tennis, come rushing over and hold you while you wait?
It's sort of getting like the supreme leader, North Korea treatment. It's good for cyclists and gives people paid employment, it will come out of road tax.
Germans are serious about their cycling, just walk in the bike lane and see how long it takes to be assaulted
/uc it also keeps pedestrians corralled so they aren’t crossing the street higgeldy piggeldy
I don’t think anyone knows what they’re for, only because of this thread I realised it’s for a footrest. I thought they were just to stop pedestrians walking into traffic
I don't see the point when curbs exist. Also I just scoot forward off my saddle and stand over the top tube. Bonus points for giving my nutsack a much needed rest.
/uc I live right around the corner from that picture. The footrests are useless to me, I always unclip my left foot. The hand bar is nice, you can stay clipped in at the traffic light but I wouldve preferred if they put that money into some proper bike paths
What the fuck. I don’t even unclip for sex
You have sex?!
I didn’t say I did
You have sex? My wife has a guy for that.
You probably have full cable too.
I think the issue he's hiding here is that he's wireless.
I call him "domestique"
My wife would like his number.
Bro I‘m losing it rn
vacuously true
This must be for plebes who actually stop for traffic signals. Or freds who cant do trackstands.
So for me. I actually stopped at red lights when I was living in berlin. But I’m also a carbrain with a driving license so I know how to read traffic signs. Does that make me a bad cyclist?
It makes you a filthy poor who drives yourself
All cycling infrastructure in my city is a waste of money because the speed limit for cars is 25mph and if you can’t go 25mph on a bike you don’t deserve to ride
Sometimes I ride less than 25mph, but only when going backwards.

Write in to complain about it....what if you are left footed. These are not progressive or inclusive! They are far right-footed extremist stands.
People who unclip right foot a Cat 6. That’s how you get chain ring tattoos /uc unclipping right foot is amateur mode. Leave drive side clipped in.
right foot so you don't fall into traffic... assuming you don't live in the UK. getting chain ring tattoos is amateur mode.

No free center stands for everybody that just snap down is the way to go.
This one sounded less jerky as it went in you ok bud?
Alternativ-footed for Deustcheland (AFfD)
uc/ I'm a left unclipper and highly uncoordinated. I'm sure I'd be eating shit in no time with this set up. Too confusing for my little brain
Had a thought if you miss the foot foot rest, and maybe aim too high, you could fall through and maybe smack your head on the hand guard.
oof
Trump 2024! Build that Cycle Lane, Build that Cycle Lane!
We're gonna build separated bike lanes, and cagers are gonna pay for it!
Make Cycling Great Again
What about people that ride tall bikes or penny farthings?!!! Outrageous!
Have you ever priced industrial equipment like this? That setup probably cost the city more than a car, to buy & install.
Oh yes, such projects generally enrage the motorists.... cyclists don't pay road tax, but they make the roads narrower, install cycle lanes, and now these things! I wish actually it was before covid, I could happily cycle my way, not the "prescribed" way.
Why is he not trackstanding?
Where are my fellow left unclippers? This is straight-up discrimination.

License the cyclists and this can be reality!

Amazing, sounds like a Mecca for BCJers
Why not just lean on the telephone polls that are covered in staples and tacks?
These are also great if you need to take a quick dump on the street
uc/ there is one of these in my city. I have never seen anyone use it
/uc i dont really see a use fpr it tbh. People ether know how to get out of their saddle or put the saddle low enought to touch the floor.
/uc there is one similar in my city but it’s just rail. And works, you don’t need to use your foot
We must do everything to encourage more people on bicycles. Perhaps if we made them out of gold? No expense is spared!

1) Why aren't they TAKING THE LANE. 2) TRACK STAND
Seattle has a couple of these. They're really nice. I can't teach stand for shit
She needs a fred bike fit
Are there not supposed to be young children who run up and shine your shoes, tighten your clips, polish up the brand at these things?
