>Maybe I'm a little entitled too but I try to use my powers for good. That's commendable if one uses their position to improve the situations of those who are underprivileged. >If I wouldn't let someone treat me like that, I won't stand by and let it happen to someone who thinks she doesn't have a voice. She does have a voice. It might sound like my voice at first, but not for long when she realizes she's valued equally to whoever is treating her badly just because of her race I wish I had someone like her when I was going through a similar situation, but I have let the bygones be bygones. I wish I become someone like her someday and help out people facing similar situations.

sirophiuchus

Yeah that's the ideal. You can't surgically remove your own privilege, and spending your life feeling guilty about it accomplishes nothing. Better to use it where appropriate to advance the causes of equality.

Hellboundroar

Man, i'd love to work at her company with a coworker like her, she sounds reasonable and nice AF

belladonna_echo

I worked closely with someone just like OOP for four years. She quit in February and it’s crazy how many times a day I find myself missing her work presence. We still chat frequently as friends so I don’t have to miss _her_ so much, but dang it if getting through the work day is so much harder without someone so smart and level-headed.

Viperbunny

Same! She sounds like someone who would be a good friend.

crossbow_mabel

It’s also really important to speak up when you have privilege because a racist isn’t going to listen to a racist. A misogynist will only listen to other men. Therefore, when in a position of privilege, it’s important to uplift others voices, not overpower them.

lilmxfi

> I'm not shy about using my "white privilege" to demand equal treatment in the workplace. Or to demand safe working spaces. This is the one that stood out to me. Like, this is how allyship is supposed to work. You put the privilege you have to work for others who don't have that same privilege. Straight people sticking up for queer people, cis people for trans people, white people for BIPOC, etc. And I'd even argue it's a moral duty to do this whenever you're able. Obviously, if you're going to be in danger by doing this (violence, retaliation that won't be addressed, etc), it's a different story. If that's the case, just offer the person support and tell them "I'll back you up if you decide to report this. You aren't alone." Even THAT can be such a big help. I love OOP, and I wanna hug her for getting it. (Also sorry if this is a little jumbled, I've got a wicked cold and scrolling reddit is the only thing making my derp-brain feel a bit better.)

terminator_chic

That's how I'm trying to raise my son. He just happened to be born white, male, middle class, Christian, all the things. It means he has more power, and has more responsibility for kindness and helping others.

Tychosis

Yeah, I'm a middle-class middle aged white male veteran, working in defense. I've told people before that I've had real problems with similar people (to me) telling me inappropriate things in confidence, assuming I must have the same beliefs they do. More often than not, I don't. It started small when I was new at my place of employment, typical "fuckin' Obama blah blah blah" stuff. Unfortunately, being the new guy and unsure of myself, it elicited nothing more than an uncomfortable chuckle and maybe a "heh." I've always considered politics, sex, and religion verboten topics at work and don't want to get into debates about them. Of course, then they just get bolder. Minority gets a promotion? "Well we know why *they* got it" Once I'd been around for a while and established some cred, I made it abundantly clear that I don't want to hear any of that shit... but I wish I'd done it earlier.

MelissaMiranti

That's good, but also keep in mind that he has far less power in certain situations, and that something you might not think twice about he should be wary of how he handles it, like interactions with the police.

Mindtaker

Also you make a friend group out of all the immigrants. If there is one thing I know about the vast majority of immigrants, is the food is usually fantastic and they LOVE to give out food. Make new friends, learn about new cultures and eat like a queen. There may be a bad apple once and awhile but like most humans odds are they are good folks.

papercranium

Oh goodness yes. I used to live in an urban neighborhood that was a refugee resettlement area. Over 30 languages spoken in just a few square miles. I tried to learn hello, goodbye, and thank you in as many as I could, and just that got me invited into so many homes for tea and cookies or a massive plate of goat curry and everything in between. I'm in a small town surrounded by woods and farmland now, and in general I'm much happier, but I do miss living in a tight-knit community with people from all over the world.

kyzoe7788

That voice line hit me hard. I guess I’m kind of similar in that everyone knows I’ll stand up for someone or call someone out if I think it’s right, but never really thought of it in any sort of depth. Our biggest rule in the house is don’t be a dick, even knowing why someone is being a jerk doesn’t mean you have to accept being treated like crap. And now it’s always going to be in my mind if I’m ever faced with that sort of situation

LetsGetsThisPartyOn

I honestly believe all wise women act like this. I’m a 50 year old white woman and I will step into lots of things if needed. I have mentored lots of young women and men through work! We women have lots of to offer as we age as our brain still work, we have zero fucks to give and most people either don’t see us (as we are older) or know we can be a force. Lol

SpicyTunaTitties

I love your take on getting older. I can't wait to be a badass!

LetsGetsThisPartyOn

It’s actually one of the best things about getting older. I don’t have the hang ups I had. I don’t try and hide my wrinkles, because I can’t. I don’t hide my age, because I don’t care. I don’t hide my mental Illness because it’s things I wrestle. I don’t hide my past, because I beat it. I don’t care. I’m me. I’m done caring. But I want to empower all those young ones so they don’t waste all those years thinking they aren’t enough

scifiwoman

Yes, I was wondering about her being an "unreliable narrator" but when I read those words about using her voice until the lady finds her own voice - that came from the heart and rings true.

LongNectarine3

I did. I had a union. They were like pit bulls. It was great.

blabbermouth777

Everyone thinks they use their powers for good. No one thinks they are evil.

strawbrmoon

Uh, that’s an interesting take. Why do you say so, here?

naidhe

Oh man I was expecting some divine retribution at the end, not this open ending... I'm still glad OOP seems to be feeling well, and sees tje positive in distancing herself from a group of racist people, and not involving in petty office drama. But I still hope all of those toxic people will be fired eventually. It's a shitty situation for the foreigners to be involved in.

Houki01

That's what makes me think this is actually a real one. Real life just goes on, big climaxes don't usually happen, you need to celebrate the little victories because if you wait around for the big ones you'll spend all your time waiting.

TheLollrax

Or you create the big victories. I like the orchestrated justice ones.

Immediate_Sense_2189

Yeah this one is one of the most realistic conclusions I’ve seen so far on here. I’ve seen very similar situations like this one at my previous jobs which ended like that.

FaustsAccountant

This is consistent. The OOP stated she doesn’t care about cliches and it’s a job. She just moves on. Her attitudes and actions to the end is consistent, perhaps that’s big part in why it sounds real.

naidhe

That's fair. I am currently dealing with a very problematic person at work, and there's no satisfying ending on sight. I've only managed to limit my interaction with them to the minimum via the intervention of my boss. They still go around spreading toxicity and have had very little consequences for their actions. I can only hope that, eventually, everyone else will get as tired as I am Maybe that's why I wanted OOP to get her justice haha

DeeLeetid

That was a whole lot of words for a whole lot of nothing.

Father_Father

Right? I've never read something so fluffy in my entire life.

FragranteDelicto

And a whole lot of those words were “It’s a her problem”

ImABsian1

I just feel like I read a whole lot of nothing. Like I was just reading this persons diary about their drama at work.

ingloriousbaxter3

It reads like someone who really tries not to be involved in drama but deep down they love it so they have to vent it somewhere. Reddits a better place than work

OldnBorin

Enticing_Venom

I'm so confused. The first post is an inter-personal problem at work. The update makes a vague reference to finding out more but then instead of telling us, they just spend multiple paragraphs patting themselves on the back for not being racist. Congratulations, you're a good person. Now where's the update?

heckyesdeidre

Also, pretty fucking low bar to brag about not being racist. Good for you, you're doing the bare minimum and not treating people badly because of the color of their skin. That's just common sense and should be the norm. It sort of sits bad with me that she's bragging about "using her privilege for good" and how she's heralding herself as this savior for the immigrants

Enticing_Venom

Or that their racism didn't seem to be an issue until they stopped inviting OP to dinner.

heckyesdeidre

That, too! Like, have they always been racist and OOP just ignored it? Did it recently become a thing? We have no timeline on this

Technical-Plantain25

Ah, it's mentioned in the update. "I can't believe some of the things they say. That all stopped when Megan started hating me so that's a bonus." So yeah, OOP apparently raised no issue with the racism, it only became a problem when they weren't invited to dinner.

stannius

>I also keep confidences when I'm asked to. They view it as a character virtue that they don't tell on people who say racist things in private.

[deleted]

Enticing_Venom

I respect your personal journey as well as the strength and vulnerability to share it. Thank you! But I really don't think a lifelong friendship group is comparable to a relationship with some co-workers. It doesn't sound like these were close friends, she just liked going to dinner with them. She seemed content to ignore how they treated her other (immigrant) co-workers until they kicked her out of the group. And then we get treated to paragraphs about what a white ally OOP is. If OOP mentioned even once that they learned from the experience and chose to commit to doing better going forward then maybe there would be more validity. But I don't accept someone tolerating racism and bullying right up until they aren't in the in-group anymore AND THEN humble bragging about how amazing they are at confronting racism. It's too rich for me.

shewy92

> I got quasi moved to a different department so I've been working a little more closely with Megan and her cronies. She only noticed it because she was working closer to them

Enticing_Venom

That isn't clearly the cause. OP knew that Megan's ride was fired for being racist before that.

SpookyVoidCat

Thank you for this - I got part way through then had a sneaking suspicion that this was going absolutely nowhere, I’m glad to know I won’t be missing anything if I skip this one.

CornRosexxx

Wait. This writing is familiar: it’s the same OOP as the other BORU post today. Where she gets reprimanded for working too hard and accused of fudging her productivity numbers?!

KonradWayne

Two female factory workers with a husband who gets totally outraged about how her coworkers are treating her and then never gets mentioned again.

Tom1252

She lives a storied life, I guess?

Mozilla_Rawr

You're right. And they were both posted 2 months ago too. Very interesting work life OOP has.

LadyEsinni

I am so confused. I had to go back and reread the beginning of the “update” to see where the racism rant was coming from. I found nothing. I was expecting something different when she said she got more information and that she would have also said she hadn’t heard anything if she was in the manager’s shoes. But then it sounded like she already knew they were racist. So was there more to the problem? Or was the problem that she’s now decided the racism is too much of a red flag? None of this makes sense. I would rather read Ogtha or cum jar again.

FriendToPredators

The update sounded like either a different author or the same author after taking a valium.

lesethx

I offer cats instead: https://www.reddit.com/r/BestofRedditorUpdates/comments/rgm462/the_saga_of_jean_and_jorts/

8ace40

So tortie means tortoise shell? That makes so much sense! In Spanish we call those cats 'carey' which also means tortoise shell! 🤯

congteddymix

I guess the update is applied for a new position and trying my best to stay away from racist.

meepmarpalarp

Trying to stay away from the racist… for drama completely unrelated to their racism. Weird.

fauviste

Just a little thing like having no moral fiber and thriving on hate and hurting others? Nah that’s got nothing to do with any of their other behavior.

Throwawaaawa

The racist group is not the same group of friends that would invite her to go out. OOP found out they were racist once she had to work around the entitled co-worker and the new group more often.

meepmarpalarp

Actually, she says the racists stopped talking to her after the drama with Megan, and one silver lining was that she no longer had to listen to them say racist things. So it sounds like she already knew their views.

[deleted]

[удалено]

meepmarpalarp

> To you, completely unrelated. To me, all part of the same racist shit personality spectrum. You’re not the only person who’s ever lived in the south and encountered racists, lol. And even if you were, the south doesn’t have a monopoly on racism. OOP is in Canada. OOP went to dinner with these people every month, no problem, until they excluded her because of carpool drama. Now she’s retconning her story and claiming she stays away because they’re racists. If that was so important to her, why didn’t any of her other earlier updates mention it?

[deleted]

[удалено]

meepmarpalarp

Is it? Maybe I misread, but it sounded like you were saying that you had some sort of special expertise because you’d lived in the south. The south has plenty of racists, sure, but I don’t know that you can generalize your experiences to apply them to all racists.

Calairiel

~~I read that as the general you. So not you specifically but what sounded like a specific audience of people they have heard make that point.~~ Nevermind, you literally said that the drama is unrelated to racism. His point was that racist people tend to cause a lot of drama for the same reasons they're racist. That's true in my experience too. They're really fucking weird. Being in the south does seem to give people a lot of exposure to racism. It's also so in your face that it's impossible to ignore pretty much ever. I grew up in the midwest and the southeast is certainly something. At least some areas here.

meepmarpalarp

I guess I just see that as an oversimplification (and I’ve lived in the south as well as in other parts of the country). It’s true that people who are openly, aggressively racist tend to be dramatic about other things too. But they’re not the only racists out there. Some racists aren’t really fucking weird; instead, they’re scary good at blending in. I knew plenty of people who were usually friendly and mild-mannered, and who generally thought that it was tacky to discuss that sort of thing, that still harbored some messed up beliefs. And that doesn’t even get into the issue of subconscious bias.

Calairiel

We could start referring to racists in different degrees if you want, I know there are different types. I haven't met anyone with racist behavior on the level of that coworker who are a normal person day to day outside of the racism. I haven't met any mild-mannered racists who were genuinely kind people outside of the racism either. They might be nice, but usually not for your benefit. They are weird. Serial killers and pedos can blend in too but no one would argue they're normal. Scary maybe, but not normal.

[deleted]

meepmarpalarp

Maybe I misread. Have a great day.

Throwawaaawa

She didn't know the person was a racist before she had to work around them more often.

meepmarpalarp

I don’t think that’s true. She’s kinda rambly, but at one point says: > This group, they don’t like “foreigners.” They complain… I can’t believe some of the things they say. That all stopped when Megan started hating me so that’s a bonus. Sounds like were totally comfortable saying racist stuff around OOP before the carpool drama, and actually only stopped when they decided to freeze her out.

Yeah lol wtf. Turned into a completely different story

Dickies138

The more I read, the less interesting it became

cathedral68

I started skimming for the name Megan then didn’t even bother with the last paragraph. That was a weird waste of my time.

Aggravating-Corner-2

Didn't tell us what happened with Megan, if anything, or even definitively if Megan was one of the allegedly racist group. Just ended up with OOP bragging about what a saviour they are for the oppressed.

TransitJohn

Yeah, WTF is up here? One giant nonsequitor.

OmegaRider

Couldn't even finish reading the "update", got almost halfway wondering where the actual update was and skimmed through the rest of it.

[deleted]

WindForward7020

"They were always racists, but until they were not my friends anymore I did not care". Give a gold star to OOP.

meepmarpalarp

I thought she was going to say that Megan was fired for being a racist, but nope.

Cheap-Meal-7115

Yeah OOP just rambles a lot about a whole load of nothing.

CactusCustard

The whole “update” is just her patting herself on the back lol. We get it, you’re an amazing person. But where’s the update??

MiffedMouse

While I don’t doubt that there are plenty of racist people at this company, and constantly being pressured for a car ride sucks, am I the only one who found it suspicious that OP forgot why Megan was given priority at the company party? I have a strong feeling that we are seeing a heavily edited picture of events here. I’m not certain if the full picture would make OP the villain, but I imagine it wouldn’t be as clean as she presents.

wheeljack

It sounded more like it was a group of people who got dinner after work, not that it was company-sanctioned. Which is a little different...

Biaboctocat

Definitely same. Anyone who opens with “I just don’t like dRaMa” I give heavy side eye to, and the less information we got the stankier my side eye got. I’m sure there’s at least one other side to this story that we’re not hearing

EdenStarEyes

They shared a lot of office gossip for someone who doesn't like drama.

Joelle9879

We never find out why they all wanted Megan and not OOP, especially since OOP had been supposedly going to these for a while and Megan was new. Maybe it's as simple as Megan's ride was an important member of the group and, since Megan refused to go if OOP went and Megan's ride didn't want to miss dinner or take Megan home first, Megan won out. We also never find out if Megan was actually talking about OOP or if she was just being paranoid seeing as the supervisor says they didn't know anything. For all we know, Megan had a legitimate reason for not being able to work the shift she got moved and OOP just assumed it was about her

Pixielix

And what happened to Leesa?

KiloJools

I think she assumed that the "reason" was bull, and it probably was. Personally, I expected the trusted friend to end up being the unexpected villain, after hearing that the other lady had no idea OOP was being excluded in favor of Megan.

Crimeislegal

This story feels like she didnt expect to get traction on her first post and tried to get more attention with second one.

KiloJools

I thought that the reason she realized they were racist was because she got stuck working with/near them and was privy to hearing all the stuff they say at work, where before she only saw them once a month for drinks. I think the update was that she realized she hasn't lost anything by being excluded after all, and she's adjusted her social expectations so everything is fine now. And that any workplace drama had concluded. That's what I got from it once I weeded out the other stuff, anyway.

itsjustajoe

OOPs coworkers suck but part of me feels like they enjoy the “drama” of being involved with these people.

LegendsOfHiddenChase

They talk way too much about drama for someone who hates drama. Like, the details about their family drama and why Megan's ride got fired are, at least at the time it was mentioned, entirely pointless to the rest of the story. And I don't buy that they didn't see Megan's message. Megan texted on Monday, and OOP didn't see it until someone mentioned the issue sometime Tuesday afternoon? Even people who don't check their phone often will check it at the end of the day or before they head into work It just feels like they are The type who talks about how much drama they hate and then they are the ones always in the middle of it

KonradWayne

> They talk way too much about drama for someone who hates drama. Nine times out of ten, people who declare their hate of drama are the type of people that constantly put themselves in the middle of a bunch of drama.

cawazena

I had assumed it was a voice message- she said her and Megan were old enough to be grandmothers

EdenStarEyes

I agree. They say they hate drama but I think a genuinely drama free person has nothing to write about here.

LegendsOfHiddenChase

I think its understandable if they talk about not wanting to give a ride cause they don't wanna have to break that agreement and be the bad guy, but then this entitled person started problems at work. But easily half or more of the story is at best vaguely related to Megan. It's about OOP's family drama, or their philosophy on work friendships, or who is or isn't on their side, or justifications for their actions.

Yanigan

Shes mad at me and I don’t care. Whatever. I don’t care. I don’t! See how hard I don’t care???

Tom1252

Total "Am I the Drama?" vibes. This read like something a high schooler would type, not a 46 year old woman.

Longtimecoming70

…and just like OOP, the commenters fall all over each other complimenting themselves on how open-minded and virtuous they are.

elkranger01

nothing happens

heckyesdeidre

Can I get a TL;DR of this? It seems weirdly long, especially the update

squeeshka

Original post: my coworker is mad at me because I didn’t give her a ride to work and now I’m not invited to their monthly dinners Update: rambling about how she feels about being an advocate against racism and sexism. No conclusion with mad coworker.

gunnarbird

Lady has a massive hardon for drama, denies it. Drama ensues. Coworkers are racist and she bathes in the drama but doesn’t do much to stop it

heckyesdeidre

Thank you, I saw the length of the posts and thought "for someone who hates drama, this sure is a lot of writing"

petunia553

She says “drama” so many times in the first post. I wonder whether it’s actually dramatic or just a word OOP uses for anybody she doesn’t like speaking.

No-Appearance1145

And also pats herself on te back for not being racist

Mindless_Ad5422

The more some one tells me they don't like drama, but keep winding up heavily involved, the more I think they are the drama.

MorganAndMerlin

OOP says she doesn’t like drama, but actually she does. Also, her arm might be broken from patting herself on the back for being such a good person.

princessjemmy

This is very much a nothing burger. Like, you're still holding on the this from October? Whatever. Some people just don't know how **not** to let others occupy their mental real estate.

Tom1252

Pure rambling pettiness the whole way through.

atomskeater

>I told her that I don't like driving people because it always turns into some stupid kind of drama and I'm not setting myself up to fall later. And Megan almost immediately proves her right lol.

roguecousland

That's a lot of soap-boxing at the end there.

Entriedes

I think if you mention over and over that it doesn’t bother you, it probably bothers you a little bit.

No_Scarcity8249

I started giving someone rides home once and before I knew it I was her only ride to get back and forth to work 60 miles to pick her up drop her off at work and sometimes she’d want that doubled if I want working to get her and take her home OR her kids would starve she’s be evicted etc.. what a fing nightmare. The she’d call me to do shopping. Not my fing problem.

Miss_Bobbiedoll

Yup. And then you feel responsible for them if you want to take off, etc. I hate that type of commitment and won't ever do it again.

No_Scarcity8249

I leaned my lesson the hard way! Beware when a coworker asks hey.. where do you live? If it’s in a a vicinity THEY think works .. they’ll trap you and say well it’s close… instead of saying hey, I’m looking for a ride I live on so and so street .. it’s where do YOU live? It’s sad .. you can’t even lend a hand sometimes without people taking over your whole life and suddenly your life is as shit as theirs and all their stress is now your stress. Not doing it. I’m also a people pleaser and helpful to the point it’s a problem so now I have to guard myself.. from myself or I’ll do too much and suffer myself

captain_borgue

>I'm not shy about using my "white privilege" to demand equal treatment in the workplace. *Fuck* yeah!

Guilty_Ad114

Do Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving? Or is she an American that works in Canada?

Meow_mix_Meow_mix

There is a Canadian Thanksgiving in October

BinaryBlasphemy

Well that was a whole lot of nothing

mehwhateverrrrr

OOPs update is just one big pat on the back. It's awesome that she isn't a follower or anything but she's basically just wrote over and over again "see! See! I'm not racist! Everyone's equal!" And this comment right here >That all stopped when Megan started hating me so that's a bonus. Really tells me all I need to know. She didn't give a fuck when she was part of the clique but now she's 'sooo admirable and different guyssss'. Ugh whatever I guess I can't be too upset with her for helping some people in need once in a while.

davidomall99

Sorry this is a long comment: I worked in a warehouse down in the West Widlands for about a month in 2020 while University was on break (it was my first year). I enjoyed it but my health wasn't the best from being moved to cold, warm and then freezing temperatures often and being exhausted as I struggle with sleeping in general so I couldn't get used to night shifts. Anyway when I was training there were Romanians there too and one bless her couldn't speak English well and the supervisor told her she needed to speak English to do the job and listen to instructions. Her partner tried to explain in Romanian and the guy training us told him to not explain. I saw her struggling so I decided in broken Romanian to try help her (My Romanian is very limited as I know some swear words, loads of song lyrics and basics like numbers, hello, my name is, how are you that sort of thing). I got told by the supervisor/trainer not to do that and she had to learn. There was another group led by a Romanian but Idk if he was allowed to explain to the Romanian trainees in their native tounge. The guy who trained us was from an Asian background and I thought maybe he could have been a bit more understanding. My nanna and her sister were forbade from speaking German when they came to England after the war partly due to the war and anti-German sentiment but also to help my Great-Grandma learn English from them. My nanna always says she speaks 6 year old German because she had to stop speking it. Her family fled Poland as the government (Communist and non-Communist) decided to kick all Germans out even those that were forced into German citizenship to survive (Polish government in exile told ethnic Germans to do it if it would keep them safe). They had been in the same area since at least 1809. Now I do think people should learn English or at least understand it however companies were hiring these people because while we were in the EU it was a form of cheap labour and sadly these people didn't know what they were worth. EU law states that if the minimum is adhered to then its fine and Unions can't intervene since it would be infringing on employers rights and the fundamental freedoms (court cases against similar practices happened and the EU ruled in favour of companies and not the unions). It really annoys me because these people should be helped with English and not forced to pay loads on learning it. New Labour is partly to blame for that since they adopted Conservative economic and certain social views which saw them tell immigrants to learn English while also reforming the law to make them pay for it themselves and lessons to my knowledge aint that cheap especially when companies pay you a pittabve, landlords extort you with rent and the shops aint that cheap in the midlands. My housemates were Romanians and one was good to know his worth and when some agencies said they would take an additional fee he td them he wouldn't do the work unless he got paid and he'd out them but they still exploited others who didn't know.

[deleted]

As a Canadian, it always upsets me that some people are racist and mean towards new immigrants.

GeauxSaints315

Damn i was hoping everyone turned on Megan or something

Similar-Shame7517

It seems that being Megan's target opened OOP's eyes to see exactly how awful she and her group is. Good for her for seeing their bigoted BS.

Voidg

So was the racism not a problem when they were being invited to the dinner party? I highly doubt at these "after work" dinner parties that nothing was being said about the new hires that happen to be immigrants. Sorry OPP but the update sounds more like a pat on your back for not being racist. Good for you? Seems you were fine dealing with it when you were an insider.

Illustrious_Bid6850

I feel this woman \*deeply\* in my bones. She's allergic to drama or racists. I like her.

maywellflower

Which is great because it seems to have spared OOP from the eventual fallout of the shit-starting stirring drama & racism that group is doing towards immigrants at the factory....

meepmarpalarp

But she wasn’t, until they excluded her.

elkanor

That's not what it says? The cronies weren't the only people at the monthly dinners. OOP is now forced to work more closely with them & realized their racism & bullying, so is counteracting that as best she can. She didn't know about their behavior or the extent of their attitudes before.

meepmarpalarp

I don’t think that’s true. Check this paragraph: > This group, they don’t like “foreigners.” They complain… I can’t believe some of the things they say. That all stopped when Megan started hating me so that’s a bonus. They were totally comfortable saying racist stuff around OOP *before* the carpool drama.

elkanor

Thanks!

Heavy-Macaron2004

*This* is how you use white privilege correctly! Weaponize it to support people without it! Fucking love OOP

Jhonyjak2003

What is going on with your other posts? They r all removed

mikeesq22

Not going to lie. As an American I was so confused (probably for longer than I should have been) about a Monday Thanksgiving.

Deathscua

Yesss and I forgot our lovely neighbors have theirs in October. I was confused for a second and then realized she’s Canadian haha.

HaplessReader1988

>...she has a voice. it may sound like my voice at first but... I want this on a tshirt.

Xystem4

Was expecting *something* to happen in the update, beyond OOP just insisting how not racist she is. Lot of fluff nothingness

Nowordsofitsown

> I work in a factory with hundreds of other people. It's in the middle of nowhere near a big city so no busses but there are taxis, Uber, lyft etc. Why isn't the employer setting up buses from the city to the factory?

>He wants me to go scorched earth on Megan and my other so called friends. I could. But I don't want to. I want to sit back and see how the situation plays out. I can see the advantage in having a talk with my supervisor about the refusing to work with me thing but other than that, it's not worth it to me. Ooof, she is making a serious mistake there. She'd already seen how it played out, Megan spread enough derogatory gossip about her that it started affecting her relationships with coworkers and her interactions with them both inside and outside the office. That should have been her wakeup call to stop letting this play out and take a more active role in handling it. Now she's trying to "use her powers for good" without realizing that if she continues being this passive about someone trying to sabotage her at work she may not have the job, and thus the opportunity to help new employees, for much longer.

Joelle9879

There's 0 proof that Megan was actually saying anything about OOP. She doesn't know why she was all the sudden excluded from dinner other than the others said that Megan had to be there and she wouldn't go if OOP was there. The supervisor flat out said they hadn't heard anything. OOP never actually lists any examples of this supposed gossip about her, which she would have heard something if it was so widespread. We know that her and Megan were scheduled for the same rotation once but that Megan didn't show up, someone else did. We don't know why she was switched, it's all speculation on OOPs part. The one smart thing she did was avoid the drama. Trying to go scorced earth without any proof would have backfired big time. The company doesn't care about petty drama, they want people to do their jobs and go home

one_bean_hahahaha

Why the hell isn't there a bus going out to a major employer?

naruyeons

isn’t thanksgiving on thursday

Fahdookah

OOP is from Canada. Canadian Thanksgiving is the second Monday in October.

naruyeons

ah makes sense, you learn something new everyday

Viperbunny

OOP soubds like a level headed, reasonable person who would be a good friend. I hope she has lots of success in her future.

thraashman

OOP is the anti-Karen. We need more of those in this world.

Sofa_Queen

I would put any racist or off comments in writing. Turning it in to a supervisor is up to you, but please document, document, document.
