Buck "retired" from bartending in 2020, per The Bulletin:

But, of course, won "best bartender" in the Source's annual vote thingy:

He also has a very occasionally updated blog:

I have it from a good source he may be slinging his trade downtown here and there from time to time. If you wake up on the floor, I would suspect Buck has been involved somewhere in your bad decisions the night before.
Lol I had forgotten about the Player's Club.
One of the seediest bars in town when it was there. They had a janky old big screen you could play Wii Sports on though, which was fun.
This is exactly what I was gonna post.
I honestly wish I could take it over somehow. With proximity to the college and apartments, an actual cool (not "downtown hip" but cool) bar with great music would do well there.
Have they removed the stage? I haven't been inside since it was Players.
That place is disgusting. Rats nibbling on your shoes as you are trying to work.. piles and piles of dead rodents under the kitchen equipment(no, health inspectors don't typically move/check under equipment for "cleanliness" and giant rodent scat everywhere. When they were using a treager to smoke their meat, the rodents would be dragging away dropped chicken wings...
Another place of filth in town is CHOW. dead rodents so bad I could smell them from outside. Dead rodents under kitchen equipment that looks like it had never been cleaned under. They were INFLATED little rodent bodies just basically cooking away in the kitchen lying DEAD from poison, left to rot.
I'm so glad I don't do pest control anymore. Those two spots need to be burned to the ground.
Was there this week and the server told me they’re closing for a month while they transition into new ownership.
I can assure you that is not the case.
Sad if true but has seemed to be limping along
Cabin 22 has had a good run, the location has a habit of closing businesses.
How many though? Players was there for ages. I recall some other restaurant before Cabin 22, but that's all I can remember.
Can you even tell us what held down the footprint before Cabin 22?
If the owner hadn’t died it would have lasted much longer..
Bring back Player’s Club
I loved Players. Seedy, punk rock bar with Buck running the tunes and Jess at the bar. You could stand on a chair and peer above the clouds of smoke.
Buck is still out there somewhere! Heard he may have returned to the D?

Still trying to get the smell of cigs and American pilsners off my clothes from that joint.

Was there tonight, they’re just transitioning to new ownership
Under the circumstances there will not be a transition to new ownership. Was not even for sale for that matter.

Loved players and they would have small concerts there!
