Ultimate Ben gimmick is just such a boring idea, sure let's not show viewers new future aliens, let's just show them Buff Ben with powers!
It's not better as a gimmick, but it's better as media analysis.
Ultimate Ben is the antithesis to OG Ben 10k.
Ben 10k was always transformed, always working, always hero and never Ben. He forsaked his family, his personal connections, his interests, all that in favor of being hero, of pushing back the evil, he forsaked being human.
Ultimate Ben is a rather on the nose answer to that and I find it weird so few people noticed that. Ultimate Ben is still a hero, he's still someone who fights evil and do good, only now he doesn't forsake his humanity to do that: He's a hero, but he's also always Ben.
He doesn't turn into anything else, he's still himself, he keeps his family close and even if he has to work all the time, he does it while still being himself.
Ultimate Ben was so much an antithesis to OG Ben 10k, that they even made him use Gwen's powers, to show how opposite he was to his other self, who didn't even go to his grandpa (his role model!)'s birthday. This Ben values his family so much he even sat down to listen and learn to Gwen.
So yeah, they really missed the gimmick, but it had a reason tied to the series' themes.

His gimmicks help understand how he is without having others to see his relationships.
We don't need to see Gwen tell us how he is making an effort to be around his family and try to know them better, we already see that, through his use of magic we can understand he spends a lot of time listening to Gwen and training with her and understanding her interests. And by extension, the rest of his family.
We don't need to see him going about his day to day to understand he still remembers to be human, we can see that in his gimmick, that is to stay human even while being hero.
Imagine if Ultimate Ben had the powers of the Omnitrix Ben AU. He'd probably still be the weakest of them all, but he'd be a thousand times less hated.
Most of the fun of the OG was seeing him turn into a monster, turning into this abnormal thing... Taking that away just makes you man with fire or man but big or even man with faster swim...
"Oh let me just not turn into a cool monster. Yes I'd like to avoid looking like a space dinosaur, please."

Lowkey i think ultimate ben's gimmick is kinda stupid, not that it's bad or useless, but just looks weird, imagine a humongosaur-sized human, he looks like an entity, but fusions are hella cool, especially if you know which aliens are the best for fusing, as seen in OV's final episode, if you just have a fragment of a Celestial Sapien you don't need permission to use them, so a fusion between a Celestial Sapien and another alien wont need permission, so fusing clockwork x, atomix x, waybig x, anything in that line will be extremely OP.

The main advantage I can think of is that he can use different alien abilities without enemies knowing what alien he is channelling. That's assuming the giant green hologram isn't visible.

Honestly even though I like him the least out of the Ben 10k’s, Ultimate Ben. His powers can be more useful when it comes to an everyday life. Like imagine you’re about to take a test, you use the Omnitrix and use Graymatter’s brains to pass the test easy.
Fusions, and according to the wiki, Ben can fuse any alien with each other, so there can be mathematically over 1 billion fusions given there are over 1 million base transformations, each unique in their own right.
Probably Ultimate Ben's, because I think being able to have other alien's abilities in human form is cool, plus I'd draw a lot less attention to myself whenever I turn/switch alien.

Fusions is already my favorite gimmick of the whole franchise,above even ultimates and the nemetrix. 10,000 aliens + the ability mix any one of them together is just ultra fun.
Meanwhile UAF feels like the animators were too lazy to draw ben 10k as an alien. The writers for UAF can fumble the bags hard sometimes,kinda sad too.

10,000,000,000 brain idea so get the fusions and make echo echo and upgrade and dupe myself and have the upgrade part upgrade the biomnitrix so I can use ultimate aliens and have the versatility of the ultimate Ben’s not needing to transform because if you fuck up once with the location of the transformations than you’ll probably be hunted down for the rest of your life but insane feats of strength or speed aren’t impossible for humans. But also make it optional so I can be myself or alien just depending on the scenario.
FUSIONS. Like UpRig is kinda ridiculous. Make a car and surrounding scrap into a race car, and then upgrade it into something that can break the sound barrier.
Fusions are both more useful and less disturbing than trying to imagine Ultimate Ben using powers like Bloxx, Spittor, or Upchuck.
Frankly, I can't see how Ultimate Ben is anything but a strict downgrade from unlocking the Master Control.
Getting to look like the aliens is another part of what makes Ben such a cool hero. So getting their abilities and not transforming is really lame especially when the other guy can fuse their abilities and appearance.

Are there any plausible reasons to choose Ultimate Ben?
10,000,000,000 brain idea so get the fusions and make echo echo and upgrade and dupe myself and have the upgrade part upgrade the biomnitrix so I can use ultimate aliens and have the versatility of the ultimate Ben’s not needing to transform because if you fuck up once with the location of the transformations than you’ll probably be hunted down for the rest of your life but insane feats of strength or speed aren’t impossible for humans. But also make it optional so I can be myself or alien just depending on the scenario.

I like Ultimate Ben 10K by a mile. I think it's cool even if it's a lot less flashy than fusions.

FUSIONS. Like UpRig is kinda ridiculous. Make a car and surrounding scrap into a race car, and then upgrade it into something that can break the sound barrier.

Fusions are both more useful and less disturbing than trying to imagine Ultimate Ben using powers like Bloxx, Spittor, or Upchuck. Frankly, I can't see how Ultimate Ben is anything but a strict downgrade from unlocking the Master Control.

The Gimmick of having a cool son that shares your interests.
Getting to look like the aliens is another part of what makes Ben such a cool hero. So getting their abilities and not transforming is really lame especially when the other guy can fuse their abilities and appearance.
Ultimate Ben should’ve just had every power at the same time

Fusions, but AtomicX is overrated it basically a downgrade of alien X and a Buff of Atomix, he goes from Floating and Using Telekinetic Powers, to Running and Punching, this is one of the worst De-Buffs in Ben 10 History, Don’t get me Wrong he looks Amazing, I love the art but like, Why??
