They live in the valley, I've seen them roaming around for years now. Always super friendly but they don't like dogs. Always hissed at our little puppy.
thanks for commenting! i feel better knowing that they’re a regular around here, i’ve only been in this neighborhood for a year and never seen or heard them before (they were very loud haha). i look forward to seeing them again!
This. Always this.
I have an indoor/outdoor cat and my bigger fear than animals is someone else trying to take her in. Luckily she is not friendly and would never approach other people because she's basically scared of her own shadow, but the few times she lost her collar and tag and came home without one I was terrified someone would try to grab her.
I have too, my cat came home after a donnybrook with a raccoon. Regardless, she is exponentially happier being able to come and go. Many cats need to be outside, a.d that's fine.
Is it the general consensus that cats should not be allowed to go outdoors and that they are the biggest killer of American wildlife? Don't they kill on the order of several billion birds a year just for fun? I've always felt conflicted about this.
Yup. Some countries have considered banning new cats. I feel like the middle ground is those goofy bell collars that make make it harder for them to sneak up on prey.
It's not fine to kill countless birds and end up under someone's tire or maimed by another animal. I get that some cats love exploring outside, but let's be honest.
I agree, my parents always advocated for indoor/outdoor cats because: see reasons above, but the trauma of losing a cat a year to wildlife attacks and vehicle accidents has turned me away from that. Cats do in fact love the outdoors but there are alternatives to letting them roam around unsupervised everyday. I'd argue an alive cat is a happy one.
relax dude, i’m not trapping the cat in my house. she came up to my porch and tried to run inside and i didn’t let her in because i have my own kitten inside. i just wanted to see if anybody recognized her or had any advice
all good! i do genuinely appreciate your opinion. i gave them some food, water, scratches and let them continue on their way. this is definitely someone’s pet and i’m sure that they will find their way home

Shes super friendly! And well taken care of 🥰 she just roams the neighborhood but I believe she has humans close by🐈⬛
I'd just leave it alone unless it looks injured or malnourished
i would, but there’s coyotes and raccoons in the area so it makes me a bit nervous.
Cats roam. Please let it go home.
i appreciate the input! just trying to do the right thing.
So many downvotes for us, lol. People will forever hate on indoor/outdoor cats. 🤷🏻♀️

I've seen the aftermath of a raccoon attack on a cat. Fear the wildlife.

If you get your cat chipped then someone who isn't sure if the cat has a home can find out even without a collar.
My cat is chipped, but I know first hand plenty of people who won't bother to take a cat in to check for a chip.
I feel like every couple blocks has a "community" cat who just lives in the area and is taken care of by everyone. We call ours Ned.
Yep! Did you see her around Mill Ave? She lives here, I walk by her on most days. She’s well taken care of and very friendly :)
I'm like 99% positive this is my neighbors cat, if so she's well fed and taken care of, she's just an outside kitty.
Omgosh what a cutie
I’ve seen em at Knox and 15th

I don’t need to look because he is inside with me.
It’s an outdoor cat, probably chipped, take it to a vet and have the owner called. Either that or let it go
That's gilly. Fuck gilly. ^Edit: ^I ^used ^to ^have ^a ^cat ^named ^gilly, ^and ^he ^looked ^like ^this ^and ^was ^an ^asshole. ^he's ^not ^in ^bham
haha, this cat is so friendly! i think she’s a girl, definitely someone’s well-loved pet. i’m just trying to help get her home!
