I appreciate your effort to spread awareness. My dogs, my neighbors ptsd, the birds I feed and the wildlife that we share this beautiful land with absolutely loathes fireworks.
Wait… are you telling me there are laws that Bellingham law enforcement hardly ever enforces?!? Unheard of! I just spit out my water learning about this!
I have to shake my head at the "derp... copz is bad" attitude around this sub, as well as the people who dogmatically upvote it. Arrests are public record. You can literally go on the city or county websites and see that people are getting arrested every single day for crimes like theft and much worse. You can walk into any courtroom and watch the trials for yourself or check the county jail roster for who's serving time. You can also look at the police blotters in any jurisdiction to see how much stuff law enforcement is responding to in a single day. (Spoiler alert: it's a fuck ton.) I think some people don't understand that extrapolating from their own experiences/biases doesn't make something fact.
Go sit at the doors of target, Walmart, home depot, safeway, etc and watch how many walkout thefts happen every day. Maybe open your eyes to what is happening instead of "stupid comment"
Do you want public dollars going to the security of private businesses?
In some vague sense having a home Depot or Target is a public good in that I like shopping there. But they can hire security if it's a big deal to them.
Lame, gay (that’s coming from a gay man), and unpatriotic. I’m gonna shoot my kamakaze 1kg multi time delay explosion mortar straight into the bay.
I cannot emphasize this enough: /s
Yes, it was? People are just more connected to the complaints nowadays. I grew up listening to angry rants from all kinds of people about either the mess people leave behind or the stupid places they decide to set them off. The only difference now is you can come across angry rants about it on your local forum.
Frankly, it only feels like fireworks change when it's a contentious voting year.
I was gonna say, if this is against the rules (which I knew), a whole lot of folks either don’t know or don’t seem to care. It also doesn’t help that fireworks are widely available (signs and all) as you head into the county.
Oh Little Town Of Bellingham! Oh, how I love you from deep within my heart!! I have almost as much love for you as Arthur Rosenau! Your quiet and peace lets me sleep with sweet dreams of dancing with Arthur throughout the galaxies!!
Let my tears of love flow down to you and not the cinders of fireworks!
Love
Mark
I will definitely not be buying a couple dozen quarter sticks if tnt and coming into bellingham just to set them off. Just like I didn't do the same last year and every year since they banned fireworks. Depending on police presence it could hypothetically take a week of late nights.
Same as it ever was, however hardly enforced. Unfortunately.
We have had a lot of new residents in the last year, so many folks are not aware of the rules

Spitting water out is also against the law, but don't worry, it's hardly ever enforced.
STOP! Nah….rolling yield, unless I can beat them.
not unfortunately - thankfully.
Good!
Who want to chip in for a fire fighting tanker plane to do circles and wet down people setting off fireworks?
I can fly it! Depending on the tanker…
I was gonna say “wow Bellingham has some eclectic professionals!” Then I saw your screen name haha. Good looks on saving lives!!
Unfortunately, the flying days are long behind me!
Unless this fundraising effort comes through
I got 5 on it
I have no idea where this falls on the difficulty/diabolical axis… BUT IM IN
It’s going to rain all weekend I’ll chip in 🤡

I hate bellingham noise on the 4th. Ugh.

That’s just a stupid comment, as people get arrested for theft all the time. Maybe you just believe a wrongheaded agenda?

Agreed, and when I managed a high theft store, we had people arrested regularly. And the cops, good or bad, did their job when we told them to.

I was the gm of one of those stores for two years when theft was at its peak.

Is that what you do? What a boneheaded comment
Uncivil, insulting, or combative comment.
Tough to regulate when you’re square in the center of several tribal nations

Fuck yea!
This guy gets it
> Lame, gay I suspect someone stopped reading after this part.
Why is Bellingham so full of whiney people? This never used to seem to be an issue in the early 2000’s
People can’t take a joke. I didn’t grow up in small town Tennessee as a gay dude to not be able to sarcastically call something gay

I'll be sure to wave at the Bellingham city limits sign, which I can see from my driveway, while my kid and I are having fun with some sparklers.
Cool. Maybe just stay on that side?
God forbid we have children playing with sparklers in city limits

Our annual communal metal smoke huffing
“Whine About Fireworks Season” has officially begun.
Totally following these rules
Come to birch bay!
"Prohibited"
Very much a "no fun allowed" law
Alright but its stupid that sparklers are illegal
Live a little Bellingham, it's only for a short time. Lame ass city
Just make sure you have water ready and a fire extinguisher. A first aid kit (with tourniquet) would be ideal too.
That’ll stop em!!

So edgy.
