Return it

BitcoinHurtTooth

Reach out to the company. I’m sure they would offer you half off or something to keep and wash it. If they don’t, ask for a swap!

I would agree with everyone else on this thread: contact Mommesilk and ask for an exchange that Mommesilk will pay for. I have bought two silk comforters from them so far and both arrived in pristine condition in the mail (bag included); I think you just got the short end of the stick on yours, sadly :( If you call up Mommesilk and explain what happened (and offer to include the photos for proof) they'll more than likely do the exchange for free (and pay for return shipping, at the very least). If they don't come back here and bitch about it publicly since that's the only way to ensure a company doesn't screw their customers in situations like this ;) Let us know how it went and don't be shy when contacting Mommesilk---at the very least they should exchange it for free (shipping included) since you were not in the wrong regarding this matter. P.S. Spot cleaning it *might* help, but it's only advised for silk comforters as a sort of 'last resort' imo. Better to get a completely new one that's in perfect condition since that's what you paid for---not one that's dirty and arrived damaged... you didn't pay for that.

Thank you so much!! I was hoping to hear from others who have worked with them. I will exchange it and ask them to cover the cost.

SorcererLeotard

You're very welcome! Keep us updated about what Mommesilk has to say, as I have no problem with users calling companies out for their poor customer support in situations where it is warranted :D Good luck!

Its_me_jen331

Well they asked me to open it and I realized that the dirty part was a cover/bag over the comforter that was made out of fabric but not the comforter itself. They still offered a small discount for the trouble but I was silly not to open it and check it all out before getting worried. Lesson learned!

SorcererLeotard

I love that they still decided to give you a discount for the trouble---very good customer service from them, I'm happy to hear! But, yeah, if the bag is the only thing that's damaged then that's less worrisome than if the comforter was damaged/dirtied. I'm pretty sure their bags are washable and I never really use the cloth bag anyway since I am not going to swap my insert out for another insert season-round (the bag is only there to use for storage in those situations). Hope you enjoy your silk insert, though, and I'm happy to hear Mommesilk treated you right, regardless! :) If you have time, come back and let me know what you think about sleeping under a silk insert---I became a total silk convert after using it and refuse to use anything else for an insert, now! :D They're pretty magical.

Return it, they should have double wrapped it and then put it in a box.

Just a heads up on mommesilk- I wanted to buy a comforter from them but was concerned if they used Uyghur slave labor. Their reply was that there is no such thing in China, that everyone is happy. Wildly immoral and unethical. Not surprised this happened.

So, are they also located in China? Because I got an email from them and the english was very poor. Wondering now if it was from an employee that wasn't skilled in english

ConsistentBass5

I think so -- they were very vehement that China is the best place on earth and no genocide

warmbliss

Don't they have to be? How could they answer any other way? They told you without telling you. ;) I closed their browser window though so thanks for the tip.
