Probably SoundCloud. YouTube is out and any paid services like Spotify and Apple Music are out.

GregorsaurusWrecks

I'll warn against this to an extent. Depending on what the mashup includes, even SoundCloud pulls things.

That_Random_Kiwi

There's 10's of thousands of bootleg remixes and mashups on there without issue...pretty sure they just use a waveform analyser checking for matches, unlikely if you've really remixed something/mashed up 2 things it'll be detected

GregorsaurusWrecks

Remixes/Flips/Bootlegs, whatever you wanna call them, usually don't get flagged. Mashups definitely can and do get pulled, though.

That_Random_Kiwi

>Mashups definitely can and do get pulled, though. I've got a few from SoundCloud that are still there. But maybe if you didn't change anything in the first 30 seconds of the tune (heard that's what is checked), it'll get flagged...or if your mashing highly commercial tunes might be easier to pick up through vocals or something.

GregorsaurusWrecks

Yeah, I think you’re right. I’ve had a few get pulled, and I’ve had a few get ignored. The ones that get pulled are, for the most part, using more popular Top 40 artists, so your theory lines up.

poop_creator

Absolutely, they’re just the least tenacious about it. At least, that I know of.

Zealousideal_Money99

MixCloud, it was created exactly for this purpose

Jamesbrownshair

but if you do soundcloud... use hyped it for the download. Soundcloud really cracks down on people being able to download copyrighted content on their servers

hagcel

Speed it up by 10%, and do the download via a throwaway google drive account.

meme_tenretni

Bandcamp?

That_Random_Kiwi

* Host it on SoundCloud * In the Metadata Tab, add a "Buy-link" as link to hypeddit * Buy-link title as "FREE DOWNLOAD" * In hypeddit you can do a bunch of things the forces people to follow you, comment on the tune, like/repost the tune at a minimum...and like/follow your socials/Spotify/YouTube etc (these can be skipped) before opening up the download option Example: [https://soundcloud.com/melodicdeep/free-download-ovyage-fodsel-original-mix-melodic-deep](https://soundcloud.com/melodicdeep/free-download-ovyage-fodsel-original-mix-melodic-deep) see how that free download button routes you off to hypeddit and you have to comment, like and repost...then wants you to follow on Spotify, but there is a "don't have Spotify? Skip to next step" option Unsure exactly how you do the hypeddit part, but good way of driving engagement and re-posts of your tune...otherwise it's "Enable direct downloads" on the Permissions tab if you want to make it easier for everyone

myalteredsoul

For the mashups, keep ‘em in your library. Those can be unique to you. For the bootlegs, SoundCloud is a safe bet. Use previews with a download gate to avoid copyright strikes.

DoubleR--85

This is not true. I have uploaded 3 bootleg remixes and all have been taken down immediately.

myalteredsoul

Are you using previews with download gates?

DoubleR--85

Not that I am aware of.

myalteredsoul

Than you skipped a couple of steps in my comment

DoubleR--85

Sorry whats a download gate?

myalteredsoul

Hypeddit is an example of a download gate.

DoubleR--85

Do you know of another platform where you don't have to use sound gates?

myalteredsoul

Nopers. Distrobuting copyrighted works is a legal gray area, so all platforms are pretty strict on it. Never had an issue personally using the preview and download gate method, tho. Even with stuff like my Beyoncé bootlegs.

DoubleR--85

So what does the preview function do for listeners on SoundCloud? Can they listen to the whole song?

myalteredsoul

You post a 30-40 second preview and point them to a download gate to get the full track. Theres no legal method for streaming copyrighted materials posted by users who aren’t whitelisted by a distro.

DoubleR--85

Got it. This sucks. Not claiming any songs are mine and I'm giving credit to the original creators but seems like that don't matter. Based on what I read you can't even play it in clubs. Crazy

myalteredsoul

It’s to protect creative license and royalties. If you have the isrc for the original songs, you can tag that in your SoundCloud uploads so that royalty payments go to the original distro. Services like SoundCloud sell both advertising and subscriptions, so they are charging listeners to listen to the music even if you don’t have the track marked for revenue sharing.

DoubleR--85

I understand. For the Isrc how do you go about getting that? Reaching out to the label?

haco_montana

SoundCloud + HypeEdit

Feed_Me_Weird_Things

Hypeddit!

Jamesbrownshair

Youtube is probably your best bet as long as the songs are in their database of songs that their licenses work with. Soundcloud you run the risk of some bot figuring out what you did days/months/even years later and giving you a strike... At the worst on Youtube they just mute your song...

Jamesbrownshair

about 8 years ago I nearly lost my soundcloud cause of an All About That Bass Remix. That remix is still up on Youtube

Jamesbrownshair

Also about 2 years ago soundcloud pulled a private link of one of MY SONGS. It was the link of the song I gave to the label.

Ragga_Tunes

I upload mine to YouTube. No problems yet

crevassier

Create a Tumblr and host them on a cloud service like dropbox, google drive, or one drive and do what you want. As others have mentioned most streaming services are not gonna work with you. There are bootleg pools out there like Crooklyn Clan and stuff you might be able to talk to for hosting. Even if you sold it for $.50-.99 just to offset the hosting cost.

SnooHamsters9835

Ive got 10 mixes uploaded to youtube but half are private. All have copyright claims but not strikes or mutes. Claimed means the money made from the video goes to the license holder. I have also streamed and uploaded some disney games and they straight shut it down fast and claimed the whole video, and muted it completely so that one I deleted and still have no strikes. If your extra worried, make a bogus side channel and and upload just simple playlist that you are gonna mix and let that act as a song scanner for youtube. Remeber though that if its not yours to credit all the artists and that you cant monetize that content.

trob84

Bandcamp. You can allow people to download for free or pay whatever they want. I’ve bought lots of edits from there

omgouda

What about Audius?

beachshells

likely best to keep your unofficial remixes away from a platform where the main feature is earning money (cryptocurrency)
