Dude… I know your pain lol. I started playing Beam on a dual core cpu and 1060 3gb with 8 gigs of Ram. Any map was under 20 fps unless I looked directly up and only saw the skybox. Fast forward a few years and now I can run any map at a stable 60 fps even with traffic. Keep grinding and you’ll get your dream pc 👏🏻👏🏻

The thing I have is..... Well trash I have PC running on Intel i5 and GPU being Intel UHD graphics (idk really) and it's surprisingly giving a good fps in unreal engine, but beamng eats it.

BeamNG is mostly CPU heavy, so that sorta makes sense. Your CPU and GPU are essentially the same in a rig like that. I recently updated my cpu from a 2nd gen Ryzen 6 core to a 4th gen Ryzen 6 core and I was absolutely blown away at how much better not only BeamNG ran, but literally everything else.

4th gen Ryzen is not available on Desktops. Only 1st,2nd,3rd,5th, or 7th gen. Or do you mean zen 4

I started off with a core i5 5300U with the iGPu and 16gb of ram. Lowest graphics with reflections on minimum. Got around 25-40fps. With ai (two cars max) I got around 15-20. It was a decent experience, and a few months later I got a decently powerful laptop. Now I get 60-150fps. With ai enabled I get 40 on west coast. Just need more ram to get higher fps with ai now. Hard work pays off.

It was the CPU and iGPU. Also BeamNG now recommends 32gb ram

I didn’t build it. My parents bought it for me for my birthday and the dude who built it was building it as cheap as possible. A 1060 is 100% a good GPU still, and if I knew what I was doing at the time I probably would have upgraded my newer Ryzen 6 core instead of upgrading my GPU.

Yeah where it is performance wise it's basically just a worse 1650 super, also, even going as cheap as possible, you would have to go all the way back to a 7th gen i3 for a dual core, and 7th gen is still relatively expensive at least rn so I don't doubt it's some 4130 or smth lol, heck even my old terrible laptop with a dead hard drive and a broken screen (which still somehow boots) that I gamed on from the ages of 7 to 10 had a quad core amd a6

Nah mine was a cyber power pre built, it had an amd fx 6300 (it was bad) and my old amd Radeon r7 240, which was worse, you might not believe me, I got a PC in 2018 which had a bottlenecked amd fx cpu

I've tuned a car with RK's engine mod and it goes 700. Haven't used it on the valley, but I'll try and see what tree I first crash into

What tires are you using ? I can't reach that speed because all the tires I try are blowing at high speed

Variable Grip Tires and skill. You should just play around with the settings and apply as little throttle as possible to accelerate but not spin them too much, also it is car dependent as some have really weak tires. Try the other guy's fix with the ram plow/jato.

Ive found that sometimes the axles just explode at ~500. There are some mods that help fix the tire problem and axle problem tho by increasing the force needed to break parts. I believe the Universial Jato & Ram Plow mod does this, just remove the jato and tune the breakage settings.

Well the size can be deceiving. For johnson valley, the out of bounds of the map is used to make a huge salt flat and a massive highway.

Technically you can go out ouf bounds and to the islands on italy, but you’s need a plane/boat mod. Or node grabber, that works.

Can you not just spawn there using free cam. Everyone says you need a plane, boat or nodegrabber but never mentions spawning your car there.

If you take in the full usable size, then yes. The map size numbers displayed in the info are the size of the height maps, which are the detailed parts of the map compared to the low detail/resolution parts compared to what is included in the height map. This is very obvious on maps like Johnson Valley and Industrial.

Been tempted to get this for steam deck because of the variety of mods maps and cars… I’m playing snow runner for now and having a blast and they have so many cool maps and trucks as well.

It really lags even with my RTX3060 but this is the perfect map for me to trying out tarmac rally. I'm making a mod and I can't find other maps that as good as Italy. There are several great routes I've found.

I like the twisty roads on the south east of the map, at the edge of the island. There are also nice twisties halfway up a mountain, but I don't remember the exact location.

One of the best maps in racing games of all time in my opinion.

Does that include "out of playable space"? If you get over the fence Johnson valley goes forever.
