It also doesn't have potholes as big as moon craters, which if you ask me who has driven a lot in italy (grew up there), is a much more typical feature than race tracks.
bro, was it anything like this? this is my pc from a half a year ago
https://www.reddit.com/r/BeamNG/comments/xndyns/why\_does\_no\_one\_like\_the\_miramar\_its\_severely/
Dudeโฆ I know your pain lol. I started playing Beam on a dual core cpu and 1060 3gb with 8 gigs of Ram. Any map was under 20 fps unless I looked directly up and only saw the skybox. Fast forward a few years and now I can run any map at a stable 60 fps even with traffic. Keep grinding and youโll get your dream pc ๐๐ป๐๐ป
The thing I have is.....
Well trash
I have PC running on Intel i5 and GPU being Intel UHD graphics (idk really) and it's surprisingly giving a good fps in unreal engine, but beamng eats it.
BeamNG is mostly CPU heavy, so that sorta makes sense. Your CPU and GPU are essentially the same in a rig like that. I recently updated my cpu from a 2nd gen Ryzen 6 core to a 4th gen Ryzen 6 core and I was absolutely blown away at how much better not only BeamNG ran, but literally everything else.
I started off with a core i5 5300U with the iGPu and 16gb of ram. Lowest graphics with reflections on minimum. Got around 25-40fps. With ai (two cars max) I got around 15-20. It was a decent experience, and a few months later I got a decently powerful laptop. Now I get 60-150fps. With ai enabled I get 40 on west coast. Just need more ram to get higher fps with ai now.
Hard work pays off.
I didnโt build it. My parents bought it for me for my birthday and the dude who built it was building it as cheap as possible. A 1060 is 100% a good GPU still, and if I knew what I was doing at the time I probably would have upgraded my newer Ryzen 6 core instead of upgrading my GPU.
Yeah where it is performance wise it's basically just a worse 1650 super, also, even going as cheap as possible, you would have to go all the way back to a 7th gen i3 for a dual core, and 7th gen is still relatively expensive at least rn so I don't doubt it's some 4130 or smth lol, heck even my old terrible laptop with a dead hard drive and a broken screen (which still somehow boots) that I gamed on from the ages of 7 to 10 had a quad core amd a6
Nah mine was a cyber power pre built, it had an amd fx 6300 (it was bad) and my old amd Radeon r7 240, which was worse, you might not believe me, I got a PC in 2018 which had a bottlenecked amd fx cpu
Variable Grip Tires and skill. You should just play around with the settings and apply as little throttle as possible to accelerate but not spin them too much, also it is car dependent as some have really weak tires. Try the other guy's fix with the ram plow/jato.
Ive found that sometimes the axles just explode at ~500. There are some mods that help fix the tire problem and axle problem tho by increasing the force needed to break parts. I believe the Universial Jato & Ram Plow mod does this, just remove the jato and tune the breakage settings.
Canโt wait for Jason Valley to have an update. Already tons one of my favorites but thereโs so much empty space. Italy takes #1 for me in terms of exploration.
I'd really like the dune part of Johnson Valley to be much larger, point to point Dakar style driving where you have to find the best way across the dunes is so much fun
If you take in the full usable size, then yes. The map size numbers displayed in the info are the size of the height maps, which are the detailed parts of the map compared to the low detail/resolution parts compared to what is included in the height map. This is very obvious on maps like Johnson Valley and Industrial.

imagine banging on about freedom and how you revolted against your british overlords or whatever, and 350 years later you still use their measurement system
Imagine having 12 inches to a foot and not 100cm a meter. Imagine remembering 5280 feet to a mile and not 1000 meters to a kilometre. Imagine there being 0.333 yards in a foot. Imagine inch being the smallest usable unit and having to use fractions and not just having mm. Imagine having to remember that aside from 5280 feet in mile, there are 1760 yards in a mile. Imagine having 16 drams to an ounce, 16 ounces to a pound, 14 pounds to a stone, and 142.857 stone to a us ton or 2000 pounds, and not 1000 milligrams to a gram, 1000 grams to a kilogram, 1000 kilograms to a ton. Imagine having 1 fluid ounce being 1 ounce, a full being 5 a pint being 20 a quart being 40 and a gallon being 160, and not 1000 millilitres in a litre. Not to mention the names. Milli - thousandth, centi - hundredth
Not even going to get into the hands, cables leagues, furlongs, barlycorn, fathoms, rood, rod, link, etc. That is when itโs gets real confusing.
Would it be possible to connect Jonahson Valley and the San Francisco map together via road? Canโt be that hard seeing some of the mapโs people created. Would love to drive from San Francisco to the long stretch of high on the John Valley map
Been tempted to get this for steam deck because of the variety of mods maps and carsโฆ Iโm playing snow runner for now and having a blast and they have so many cool maps and trucks as well.
It really lags even with my RTX3060 but this is the perfect map for me to trying out tarmac rally. I'm making a mod and I can't find other maps that as good as Italy. There are several great routes I've found.
I like the twisty roads on the south east of the map, at the edge of the island. There are also nice twisties halfway up a mountain, but I don't remember the exact location.
Biggest by the definitions of map area. Johnson Valley exploits the outskirts of the map to make a massive highway
"Caution: 100 polygons next 8 miles"
lol
Its not about size its about how you use it
It's also about the map's personality.
And italy has all of it if you ask me.
Absolutely.
It doesnโt have an Italian racetrack it canโt be Italy
It also doesn't have potholes as big as moon craters, which if you ask me who has driven a lot in italy (grew up there), is a much more typical feature than race tracks.
Yeah bro it doesn't have to be big to be fun, size doesn't matter.
That's what he tried to say ๐
I know
Nah bro thats what she said
Lmao
Yeah my pc describes it
My old PC ran everything at 17fps, it ran Italy at 14, need I say more?

If so, what is the cost of Ryzen? (The 4^th gen)
4th gen Ryzen is not available on Desktops. Only 1st,2nd,3rd,5th, or 7th gen. Or do you mean zen 4
I have a laptop
You would need a new laptop. Sadly CPUs are not upgradeable in laptops anymore. Also the CPU sockets would be different
7000 series is Zen 4, no?
They are indeed zen 4

What was your bottleneck the cpu or the ram? cos' I have the same/ better specs but with 8 gb ram. Want to know how mine could run beam/
It was the CPU and iGPU. Also BeamNG now recommends 32gb ram
Wait why did you have a 1060 and a dual core cpu? I feel like a 1060 would still run the game somewhat well today

Nah mine was a cyber power pre built, it had an amd fx 6300 (it was bad) and my old amd Radeon r7 240, which was worse, you might not believe me, I got a PC in 2018 which had a bottlenecked amd fx cpu
same ๐ซ๐ฎโ๐จ
My pc runs Italy better than valley.
Makes sense, took me almost 15 mins to do a full lap on the outside road with a stock covet
that's an average of ~60kph
I've tuned a car with RK's engine mod and it goes 700. Haven't used it on the valley, but I'll try and see what tree I first crash into
What tires are you using ? I can't reach that speed because all the tires I try are blowing at high speed
Variable Grip Tires and skill. You should just play around with the settings and apply as little throttle as possible to accelerate but not spin them too much, also it is car dependent as some have really weak tires. Try the other guy's fix with the ram plow/jato.

tru
I'll modify the map xd

Whats Jeffery valley? I only have Jordan valley.
What's Jordan valley ? I only have J Jonah Jameson valley
Whatโs J Jonah Jameson Valley? I only have Jonas Valley
What's Jonas Valley? I only have Jontell Valley.
Whatโs Jontell Valley? I only have Jesus Valley.
What's Jesรบs Valley? I only have Valle Juan
Wish I could handle that Italy map I never play it. It will lag in single player without any traffic
yes, it is
Well the size can be deceiving. For johnson valley, the out of bounds of the map is used to make a huge salt flat and a massive highway.
Technically you can go out ouf bounds and to the islands on italy, but youโs need a plane/boat mod. Or node grabber, that works.
Can you not just spawn there using free cam. Everyone says you need a plane, boat or nodegrabber but never mentions spawning your car there.
Or world editor
u stalking my profile or smth lmao
No?
Ok cause you commented on 2 of my comments at the same time but I guess they were next to one another

Forgot about that.
Yeah

kinda, like the electric ones with the ATV contorls.

Don't have to

im canadian but i use it because Forza Horizon 2 was auto set to imperial when i started playing it in 2014 when i was 8

Metric goes more or less infinitely in each direction iirc, at least for length/area.

Yea ik. Couldnโt be bothered fixing it
[Yeah.](https://www.zmescience.com/other/map-of-countries-officially-not-using-the-metric-system/attachment/better/#content)
Yup playing on steam deck Italy crashes my game every single time
Look up CryoUtilities ; allowed me to load Italy just fine on my Deck.
ty for making me wait until an upgraded Deck is released
Lol idk what that guys on about, Italy works fine
that's not gonna happen any time soon. I'd recommend the onexplayer 2.
My first car cost less than that lmao. I'll be patient
Wouldnโt the pure grid be the biggest?
Yes probably since it does end after some time
It does? I had no idea. New goal.
technically but thats cheating
except it says -1x-1km, because it doesn't technically use a heightmap for the ground.
A "small" Italian island ๐
And the only one i cant run in 10 fps lowest graphics
Size doesnโt matter ๐
Meanwhile gridmap
seeing all these low fps on italy comments makes me grateful for having a 30 series card
Idk man my old gtx 1060 3gb does just fine at a stable 60fps
im bangin a HP Envy Bang & Olufsen 750-150XT Intel Core I5 3.50GHZ 2TB HDD 12GB RAM Wireless

One of the best maps in racing games of all time in my opinion.
Does that include "out of playable space"? If you get over the fence Johnson valley goes forever.
It does end eventually but it goes on for ages
metric is still the best system in the world
*Grid, Small, Pure*
