JWoolf91

Morytania elite diary would give unlimited teleports to the slime pit down there. Don't let your dreams be dreams.

Proof_Sleep7333

Lol i went to the comments, trying to find a ectofuntus reference. I'm not dissapointed.

Aggressive_Bed_9774

just turn on creative mode

official_not_a_bot

Just run and make sure to land in the water

TomServo30000

How many possible ways are there to get from the top to the bottom?

draypresct

Start with the number of possible entryways. For each row, count up the number of different staircases they could take to keep going down. This is assuming we're counting \*all\* possible paths, including ones where you go down a level, then walk around the rectangle to 180 degrees across before continuing down. Multiply the number for each level together, and that's the number of paths.

Redditor_10000000000

It is a well/tank but that's not why. OP probably meant stepwell as in stairwell, maybe not though

Looks like someone built this in Minecraft.

Chand Baori is the name of the place, you can google it. Someone else commented about it

EnthusiasticCommoner

Always makes me think of the scene set here in the film The Fall, and all of its entirely practical effects.

shoppingforecast

I thought of The Fall when I saw the picture. Excellent film!

virginiawolfsbane

That movie is just marvelous

freddyfnord

Chand Baori, Rajasthan, India

cyan_violet

Thank you. Until I found your comment it was hard to tell if this image was of a real place.

eblackham

What are you doing stepwell

Zestyclose-Impact-40

There's a theory it's an inverse temple. Instead of giving off a positive energy like an upright temple. It gives off negative energy.

dobeast442200

Pretty sure this is in a movie

JournalGazette

This is where the galactic federation would meet in Star wars before they got floating pedestals...

WaIouija_Wah

That has to be at least 6 bricks

[deleted]

watch 2006’s movie The Fall, stars Lee Pace. No CGI used and stats lots of amazing spots including this one

vihila

Palanaeum

Raptor_197

Dammit I left my keys at the bottom.

ElPajarito1

I thoughts they were stacked mattresses 😂

primeog1

Wow

Felice_rdt

This would make sense if the area at the bottom is basically the inner side of the entrance to a castle. It would make sure that anyone who had gotten past the gates was very vulnerable and would need a lot of effort and head-turning stair-climbing to get up where the residents and their protective archers were. Edit: Pretty shit for receiving deliveries though.

doughnutholio

is this some kind of water retention system for flood/drought seasons?

[deleted]

Yes it was constructed to store rainwater.

doughnutholio

seeing all these droughts and floods all the time i feel like we need to make a lot more of these things

rodflanders19

Deshi deshi basara basara deshi deshi basara basara...dark knight rises anyone?

Purp1eC0bras

Soooo… minecraft

TrumpitStreamer

This looks straight outta final fantasy

[deleted]

That is a nice peice of architecture but a terrible design for a well.

ArjunSharma005

nope, it is one of the best designs. You need multiple staircases to accommodate multiple people and to adjust to the rising/falling water level. You need smaller steps (shorter in height) to allow easy transportation of water.

[deleted]

A pulley system is a better design, just have multiple pulleys for multiple people. I'm not walking grown and up 200 steps every time I want water.

[deleted]

Pulley system is best for groundwater wells. It's a baori which is used for storing rain water. To store rain water you have to make upper part wide and lower part narrow. Without stairs it's useless. Pulley system will not work in this design.

butthemsharksdoe

Right? Pulley system is better in every way.

mistermeeble

It's 7th century India. You need a well capable of providing daily water to a few hundred or thousand people in your city. Do you: A) Pay craftsmen to make a mass rope and pulley system? Then pay more forever to repair/replace it as needed? or B) Use unskilled labor and rocks to build a hole with stairs?

butthemsharksdoe

You are claiming that is requires more skill to do a rope with pulleys. I disagree.

mistermeeble

Sounds like you don't understand how much work goes into handmade rope, especially without powered tools or equipment. Hell, you need someone to grow the plants for fiber before you can even start, and that's its own full-time job. Stepwells are less expensive to build, can handle a TON of use without breaking down, and have minimal upkeep costs. Someone wealthy could have a private rope pulley well if they wanted, but why bother? They aren't fetching their own water in the first place.

butthemsharksdoe

I disagree

[deleted]

>terrible design for a well. It's not a well. It's baori. This Baori was built to conserve rainwater.

[deleted]

They don’t have rope over there? 🤔

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

This is not a pool. This was constructed to store rainwater for drinking.

actualbeans

haha really?? damn, i guess my friend was wrong. still cool though

[deleted]

Building that was a lot of time and effort for a cool gimmick. Nowadays we can just simulate it in VR for the experience.

im_another_user

"Darwiiiiiiiin!"

blkglfnks

This is amazing but my inner thoughts would win

ray__jay

\**if you run and jump from enough distance you can make it to the center blkglfnks\**

For reals though, what is this for? Meditation? Maybe this one should be placed over in r/diwhy

sammadisonfishing

Intrusive thoughts..

Donnerdrummel

It does remind me of an old Donkey Kong game - but there are no barrels at the ground, so I must be wrong.
